I believe he talks of Capitalism in ideological (not economic) terms, rejecting it in essence seeing it focused not on the human being, but on a materialistic (mis)perception of the universe. This is the same criticism adopted by former Prime Minister of Japan, Yukio Hatoyama's NYT article "A New Path for Japan". Materialism, belonging to the domain of classical mechanics, and reductionism, is obsolete today in all fields of human knowledge.

If we look at countries with free market capitalist economies we see they have all been totalitarian/authoritarian: Chile, 1973-1983(junta), Argentine (junta), Brazil (junta), Greece (junta), Great Britain in 18th-19th century, Singapore today and Hong Kong today.
