  • Ah dr. Zhivago como llore la primera vez que la vi, y siempre que la veo para que negar que moqueo....... Un hermosa pelicula

  • I've lost track of how many times I've watched this film over my lifetime. I've read the novel from cover to cover at least two or three times, and while I have recorded the movie to view whenever I have a few free hours to spend, every time this epic film is scheduled for broadcast, I feel compelled to drop everything so I can see it at that moment. It IS that great of a cinematic masterpiece - just like every other work of Sir David that I've had the pleasure of viewing.

  • On tonight nov. 28th 8pm et. turner

  • V r. 1965 ako úplne nový film som ho videla vo Viedni, čakala som prvé dieťa! Úžasné spomienky, na ktoré nikdy nezabudnem!!

  • thanks unforgivable #2

  • Visually this is the most beautiful movie of all time

  • A LEAN NIGHT!

  • @tugia1 DR ZHIVAGO, A BRIEF ENCOUNTER, AND A BRIDGE ON THE RIVER QUARRY, A LEAN NIGHT!

  • Tom Courtenay is Boss in this movie!!!

  • Great, I'm at that time of the day where I have to decide between 4 hours of sleep and watching a 4 hour movie.

  • هههههههههههههه

  • Another best, by David Lean, The Bridge on the River Kwai a 1957 British World War II film by David Lean based on The Bridge over the River Kwai by French writer Pierre Boulle.

  • I'm sorry, but THIS is David Lean's best film.

  • PURE MAGIC !

  • i love this movie its scary to see what happen to Russia

  • my name is Lara, i'm named after Lara in Doctor Zhivago :) i have blonde hair and blue eyes too that's creepy XD

  • 23 Party Apparachniks were instructed not to like this film.

  • A film depicting both the beauty and the ugliness of life.

  • "Zhivago, a man in love ... dramatic pause .... with life."

    Love it!!!!

Catch it at 2:39 - thanks for posting this GREAT trailer!

  • A classic for all generations ;)

  • @Steadwell - "Casablanca," What an interesting movie! The lead actress never understood why the movie was [still is] so popular herself, and I kind of agree with her. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie, but you do have to admit that the sets, the music, the acting, and at least half of the story were just "average," yet it all came together to be one of the greatest movies of all time. You could say the same for "The Maltese Falcon."

  • Dr. Zhivago, A Brief Encounter, and Bridge On The River Kwai A Lean Night

  • What a beautiful film. War and romance, Julie Christie, Omar Sharif, and who could forget Rod Steiger!

  • oh oh dr.schiwago ist f**

  • Lara is a bitch.

  • @Steadwell These were awe inspiring, magnificent to the nth! No comparison!

  • dr.chiwago aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh hilfe den hasse ich

  • I've seen this movie in my childhood very often. greetings from germany

  • @carloko08 how did you find the Russian version? And is it any better?

  • One of my all time favourite movie themes - it IS the representative theme for high romance, epic drama, sweeping landscapes with thousands of extras - the stuff of director David Lean.

  • Meu nome é Yuri e minha irmã se chama Lara, por causa desse filme...

  • Tenho um casal de gêmeos: eles se chamam Yuri e Larissa, por causa desse filme!

  • this is a classic movie it shows how Russia fell to communist and a great love story

  • Such a boring movie. And I wonder why so many parents named their kids Lara because of this film. She's a mistress after all.

  • ...Brief Encounter, A Bridge on the River Kwai... A Lean Night!!!

  • @Steadwell Slumber Party Massacre 2 beats them all!

  • some time ago I saw Doctor Zhivago in russian lenguage with subtitles, wow, dudes, was amazing!!! the real revolutionary times and ideas, the real suffering of people againt the powerful ones, the injustice, the dialogs, all in russian lenguage have another mean, in russian is a heavy weight history to see 1000 times!!! this is one of the best movies ever made

  • I like Omar Sharif and I think it's the greatest actor in the world . flori from albania

  • Omar is so hot and i love Lara's theme

  • i love this movie it's sad what happen to Russia

  • 3:03 - Geraldine Chaplin is so cute! :)

  • we went to Sydney to see the musical featuring anthony warlow and it was superb. is in melbourne now and very worth seeing.

  • Let us ;not forget the ethereal grace of the beautiful and elegant Geraldine Chaplin. She is so stunning in her angelic visage. she is as beautiful a woman can be..

  • Julie Christie is so beautiful

  • The "mow down" of the kids in the field explained: the communist partisans "mistake" the boys from the military school for White Russian partisans seen at a distance (this point of the film is set during the Civil War, probably around 1920) and shoot them. The thing is, the boys ARE the children of White Russians because they attend St. Michael's military school...does that make them counter revolutionary? The scene offers a subtle comment on moral ambiguity of violent political action.

  • Can someone explain the scene where they mow down the guys in white shirts and find out they are kids from a military school? I mean like give a link to a site explaining who they were?

  • 18 fans of "The Hangover" and "The Twilight Saga" think disapprovingly of this film...

  • @contrerados

Hey man, I am a great film fan, and I'm only 19. I thought the Hangover was hilarious.

  • @contrerados Yeah, there is no need to make fun of the Hangover, it does it's job as a comedy, but you can make fun of Twilight though :)

  • poor Tanya :(

  • Rob steiger is a beast

  • Got to love Julie Christie

  • Zhivago, a man that likes a bit on the side...

  • film was ok bt the novel was better

  • What film are they talking about!? not this one. borningest film ever made ever.

  • if you look at it closely, it's just a dull story: ppl get outraged, throw the government, make a revolution, get corrupted themselves, and normal, sympathetic individuums suffer a great deal.

    what a dull, sad story!

  • @flaminia5 yes it's a caption about an important historic event. What movie do you think is entertaining?

  • @waitingformypopcorn you are right, maybe i am just no big fan of "historic" epix

i'd suggest as an entertaining "Hells Angels", "North by Northwest", "Some like it hot", "Boys from Brazil", "Faust" with Gründgens and some others, but my list probably would not be very long

  • @Steadwell ur absolutely correct, greetings from an Indian

  • Long movie... but well worth it.

  • "Zhivago Effect and the New World Order" et al.

  • Lol wasnt he in Top Secret?

  • Ron Burgundy ?

  • so basically it romanticizes adultery.

  • I love this film and... Omar Shariff ^_^

  • i find the subject during the revolution interusting , but stalin's dictatorship rather dull

  • Comment removed

  • 6? it only won 5 I thought...

  • the movie is a bit corny, but I love Omar Sharif... hmmmm

  • movies of todays era lack emotion .. drama .... romance..... army action ..together

  • A man of peace who cheats on his wife.

  • @RetroVGamer Boris Pasternak's wife knew that her husband was in love with her and another woman. He continued his devotion to his wife as well as to his mistress until his last breath. Without his mistress, Pasternak would have never written "Dr. Zhivago." As he was writing the scenes with Laura, it was with his mistress in mind. She had inspired him to write the novel. Did he do the unforgivable by being in love with two women? I read that his mistress was even imprisoned for loving Boris.

  • Thumbs up if unforgivable #1 sent you here!

  • @skat3rny69 Unforgivable #2 fool!

  • @SargentMugen lol ur right my bad!

  • @ElaLa44: Avatar has taken longer to make and it's NO masterpiece^^ and there's an old movie where people lived with tigers, this movie has taken 10 years ti make... i wouldn't say, that you cam say a movie is a masterpiece because it took long to make it...

  • @ZebraJess92 You do have a very valid point. The length of time it takes to produce a movie is not a sole indicator that the movie will be a huge success. There are so many factors that come into a play in creating a masterpiece. We know, however, that when it comes to "Dr. Zhivago," it seems that every aspect of its production had been flawlessly carried out. I call it "perfection." Of course, "perfection" did require more time.

  • I was born in 1958... at the age of 7 years old I went to the theater on Bolling AFB and saw my favorite movie to this day in late 2010... Dr. Zhivago...

  • jajajajaj

  • Long but awesome film. Have always loved this one so much I always list it in the #1 spot on my fave list of movies. Great cast, score, sets, locations, costumes, etc...proof you dont need a shitload of spfx to make a great movie.

  • Do you have footage of the ending of the 1965 version? The one showing the dam?

  • what's the song at 1.00?

  • Excelente filme!

  • Visually STUNNING film.

  • One of the greatest films ever made..very artistically conceived scenes... all time great films..my most favorite -

  • One of the greatest films ever made..very artistically conceived scenes... all time great films..my most favorite

  • such a masterpiece

  • Master Achievement

  • What was that song at 0:59? The da dadada da da da dadada?

  • @GoldenGirl1529 Kalinka

  • @GoldenGirl1529 Kalinka

  • "Zhivago Effect and the New World Order" et al.

  • J'ai tant aimé ce film...il m'a fait découvrir l'oeuvre de ce géant de la littérature russe qu'est Pasternak,et de là ce fut une découverte émerveillée de la culture de ce sigrand peuple et si beau pays.

  • What wonderful music - fabulous orchestration. Fantastic color in the use of very Russian / Eurasian motifs and instrumentation (balalaikas etc). Watched this last night and it is still breathtaking even after 50 years - Bravo David Lean et al!

  • Zhivago lives in a van down by the river!

  • หนังสืออ่านสนุกไหม?

  • I use to live in Ukraine as a Peace Corps volunteer and this movie reminds me of my time there. Great movie!

  • @gettie40 if you look in the david lean club in myspace there is a topic if you could be a character in dr.zhivago who would you like to be .

  • man this movie looks pretty epic, and that blone chick what a knock out. i gotta watch this

  • @jumppack1

Watch it my friend. You won't be disappointed. Julie Christie ("that blonde chick") is stunning in this movie in not only her beauty but acting as well.

The only thing I recommend doing to appreciate this film to the fullest (and get what's going on) is doing a quick read (wikipedia will do) on the Russian Revolution, rise of the Communists and the first 50 years of the Soviet Union as that is the backdrop setting to this movie.

It is indeed epic and one of my favorites... enjoy

  • WTF is movie watcherus?!?!?!?!?

  • this trailor tells the ENTIRE story lol. seriously.

  • i love omar el sherif

  • "Zhivago Effect and the New World Order"

  • i love trailers like this for epics, than the trailers for epics now.

  • I watch this movie once every year.... every time I fall in love of Lara.... every time I hate the communist ideologie & revolution....... and every time I cry at the end !!

  • @feresq

Me too. I knew my marriage would never work in 1972 when my wife thought this was a boring movie. Such good people, such passion, such saddness. My wife now just falls asleep.... I cry.

  • Here David Lean showcases his immense filmaking craft, but as a romance this film fails horribly. Why this film is so beloved is beyond me.

  • *sighs* i watch that movie last night. it is good movie.

  • A LEAN NIGHT!

  • You all would enjoy the movie - the epic sweep of this film has stayed with me for over 40 years. Omar Sharif was great - his character burned into my mind. And The MUSIC - wow. The book was a bit hard for me back then, but I managed to read it, Was in 8th grade and all the Russian names were confusing but the story.....beautiful. Cry EVERY TIME at the end. GOT to quit watching it!

  • @icu109 Yes, it is a bit like Аnna Karerina I think.

  • Omar Sharif was truly a gorgeous man in his day...I love this movie.

  • @sharona1981 Yes, Omar Sharif was handsome. I am wondering who could play the central character from this generation of male actors. Any suggestions folks?

  • @katszrina797 I think Israeli actor Oded Fehr (he played Ardeth Bay in the Mummy movies) could be a good choice. He has similar looks to Omar Sharif and is a good actor too.

  • @sharona1981 He played the mummy but the mummy wasn't named ardeth bay in the new films.

  • @rottwielerking It was Arnold Vosloo who played the mummy, called Imhotep. Oded Fehr's character Ardeth was a Medjai chieftain, one of the good guys.

  • @sharona1981 Oh yeah. I had remembered the that in the original 1932 version the mummy was nick named ardeth bay. I didn't realize that the chieftain was also named ardeth bay. I'll have to see the film again I guess.

  • what a story¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ :)

  • la mejor pelicula de amor de toda la istoria

  • this is dumb.

  • On his way to execution, he took a pistol from one of the guards and BLEW_HIS_OWN_BRAINS_OUT!

  • is this a really good movie im thinking of watching it is it worth it?

  • @Stevethebastard Yea it's pretty awesome.

  • Awesome movie!

  • zzZZZzzzZZZZZzzz..BORING!

  • Not at all boring! Study the setting: Russia at the time of the Revolution. It is quite fascinating.

  • @pablinchi25 How anyone can watch this trailer and react that way is beyond me.

Go watch fucking Spiderman and pretend you're getting a great cinema experience, meanwhile actual fans of art and cinema will stick to masterpieces like these.

  • pretty cool trailer !!!

@ finalolita .- Check my new video!!!!

    フェリス径

    Bye

  • Masterpiece... i was 2 Years ago in Moscow and Area and yes i remembered this great Movie of Love and War

  • esa pelicula es realmente impresionante! y muy triste!!

this film is realy amazing and very sad!!

  • Dr Schivago, a Brief Encounter and a Bridge on the River Kwai... UNFORGIVABLE

  • I have loved this movie since I was fourteen.

  • Pasternak was an outsider looking in. Hence, the lack of cultural traits. The Zhivago character reflects that. I agree with the lack of soul and emotion part on characters and scenes concerning Russians.

One thing you can't deny is the chemistry between Julie Christie and Omar Sharif is what made this moive.

  • "Dr.Zhivago" is the best movie EVER to me, however, you are entitled to your opinion. This movie took three years to make. It's a masterpiece! Can you name another movie that has taken just as long to make?

  • @ElaLa44 Cleopatra

  • @burtonreid ~ Thank You! :) "Cleopatra" is another great movie, however, I didn't realize that it has taken as long as "Dr. Zhivago" to make. Are there any other movies that took three years to make?

By the way, "Gone With The Wind" has taken Margaret Mitchell three years to write. It is very sad that death came her way at 48. Too young to die!

~ R.I.P. Margaret Mitchell and Boris Pasternak ~

  • @ElaLa44 Oh god , well GWTW is a class film , i'm heavily into history films , my favorite is probably Spartacus , any particular favorites ?

  • @burtonreid "Dr. Zhivago" is my all-time favorite movie followed by "Gone with the Wind." "Lorenzo's Oil" may not be a masterpiece, but it does happen to be my third favorite movie. :)

"Cinderella" took first place when I was a child. I used to cry when the movie had ended and would sit in front of the TV set for at least a couple of hours waiting for the characters to be coming out of the TV tube. lol

I remeber thinking that they had to come out of there sooner or later. lol, again!!

  • @ElaLa44 Gone with the wind

  • @ElaLa44 James Camerons "Avatar", But i wouldn't call that a masterpiece entertaining perhaps but not in the same league as "Dr.Zhivago". However, I'm pretty sure it took longer to make.

  • My favorite movie of all time...so lush and romantic...and dramatic!

  • An awesome film. Personally, I think the book is even better! It fills in a few "plot holes" and provides more depth for the characters (which is almost always the case with movie versions of books).

  • Another classic movie.

  • I looooooooooooooovvvvvvveeeeeee this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The film opens around Christmastime. I saw this movie T O T A L L Y F R E E @ MovieWatcher (dot) US

  • wonderful film, music is perfect. one of the best film i have ever seen...

  • Agreed, enonoe. Especially :53. That scene should never had been in the trailer.

  • spoiler much?

  • Beautiful film!

  • They sure don't make epics like this these days.....

  • whatever, Comrade.

  • Julie Christie is so hot in this movie. I can easily tolerate 3 hours of watching the commie bastards come to power in Russia just to watch Julie Christie.

  • @leafyutube YOU GOT THAT RIGHT !! My dream girl since way back when.

  • What a stupid comment!

  • And yet you responded to it. What an idiot.

  • What a stupid comment!

  • You're obviously one of those commie bastards I was referring too and that's why you were offended. Go live in North Korea!

  • You're a dinosaur. Communism is no longer a threat. It's all about the towel heads these days.

  • I like Julie Christie who acts so well. It seems that no one can act this role like her. This is a great movie !!!

  • Zhivago can't be an enemy of the people, he is a fictional character. Now, Stalin there is an enemy of the people. He killed more Soviet citizens that all of Hitler's armies ever dared to kill.

  • @madmav24 yess!
