That's Cross' style. If you are familiar with his stand-up you'd see it works very well. He does it to make his stories sound more impromptu and sincere. This way it doesn't sound rehearsed.

You get it but there's so many people that don't. George Carlin and Steve Martin were both earlier masters for example-loose but totally rehearsed routines-that didn't come off that way-it's a fine line sometimes.

Dane Cook from his "Harmful if Swallowed" and "Retaliation" days is absolutely hilarious. I even congratulate him on his record album sales of "retaliation" and I'm one of the millions who bought it.

But Vicious Circle and the movies he's done? They're terrible. Plus - thanks to Youtube and other internet media- it has been discovered that a good amount of his jokes have been ripped off other comedians like C.K. Louis (great great comedian).
