  • You can tell a real Magic player by the way they hold and manipulate their cards. For some reason, Magic players have a finesse and elegance with cards that other card game players tend to not have.

  • cool

  • What kind of printer do you use?

  • NO NOT THE FOILS, THE HORROR

  • Does the peel off thing only work with foils?

  • That's some Claire de Lune in the background! Debussy in the house!! 3:44

  • Comment removed

  • aren't these proxies enough thicker than normal cards that you can feel the difference? if those transparencies are like the old school things teachers used to use with projectors they are not of negligable thickness

  • Thanks man that was very helpful but I find it easier to wipe the card clean granted we are just using finger nail polish remover lol can u tell me which sets are u considering new and or old

  • ES PERFECTOOOOOO LA TENES ADENTRO MAGIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!!!!!!!!!

  • These are perfect for EDH. I love using cards like time walk and LoA, but I'd be daned if im going to go spend a paycheck on 2 cards lol. Awesome vid

  • now the chinesse are gonna mass produce fake magic cards

  • I have found that Innistrad cards work very well when de-inking for foils. Under a minute to de-ink with Acetone and a microfiber cloth.

  • n any one tell me, where can I find pictures(scans) of mtg cards with borders - because all that i can find has it's border chopped off to a smaller sharp one.

  • nail polish remover doesn't work, i've tried it and the paint doesn't come off. i'll just buy the pure acetone that wal-mart has

  • What's the transparent paper called like the brand and stuff and can you get it on amazon???

  • I have to say that anyone using this process to SELL proxies illegally...would need a damned gullible idiot for them to not see the plastic coating.

  • where do you get acetone?

  • @animodeoh Any art supply store and most hardware stores that deal with painting supplies. It's basically paint thinner - but what it's eating through specifically is acrylic paints and glues. It's very cheap, but make sure that you use it in a place that's well ventilated.

  • @animodeoh at any pharmacy, it's nail polish remover.

  • I can't get the foils right. I can make non-foils tho they look amazing. I'm jus having trouble with the foils it's difficult to print them without them lookin rediculosly fake.

  • using scotch tape is fine. just make sure its the high gloss tape not the dull stuff like he holds up in the picture. ive cleaned many cards off using the gloss scotch tape and it works great.

  • im looking to make a few token foil proxies. i have the program mentioned but my printer doesnt work right and they bubble up. if i go to kinkos what program should i use to have them print on...

  • totally pro style

  • Ahhhhhhh, I see...

So this is where my super cool premium foil Black Lotus came from...

    jk

  • Foils first started after Urza's Saga, by the way, not Masques

  • @snowbladetaki actually it was Urza's Legacy, not Saga :)

  • @Shizzle7111 Hence the "after" part

  • I've been tryin to do this but I have an inkjet printer and when I try to print on the transparencies I have the ink doesn't dry, does it just take a long time or can this not be done with an inkjet? Replies would be appreciated :)

  • @steaka1105 does not work with inkjet. go to fedex kinkos and get them to print them

  • Wow, great video. THANK YOU!

  • Do you know by any chance if you could do this with yugioh cards?

  • You say this is video of the "complete proxy process" but you don't show how to attach foiling on top of your jet printed art. So... how do you do that?

  • I love your videos man, you really inspired me. :)

  • Is it legal to create custom art and whole new cards that don't even exist in MTG and post templates online so people can use them for casual play?

  • 3:45 where ya got that copies on trasparent tape ... sorry for my bad english, i'm italian.how can I get them?

  • I'm sorry but proxys are bullshit, just buy the damn card.

  • @lawlawlowned For $900 in some cases?

  • Comment removed

  • can this be done for yugioh? xD..

  • i can only laught about this shit...whne you cant collect legal ..thna let it be but dont du this shit..omg!!!

  • @Undevils I can only laugh about this shit...when you can't spell correctly...then let it be, but don't do this shit...omg!!!

  • @silvsilvsilv ...stfu

  • You guys should really check out the new method I posted yesterday. Window Decals are win!

  • omg i'm sooo sorry, i took out the annotations and missed that one that said M10 where the best to de-ink... sorry for that..

P.S.: again I'm sorry to bother but, I got everything ready and i already de-inked some cards, but I can't find any good altered cards so i can print them onto the plastic sheet...

do you use some kind of program to alter the cards or you get the images from the internet? and if you do could you tell me where do you get them please?

thanks a lot for your time .

  • sorry for bothering.. can can you tell me wich from wich edition does the foil stay ( you only mentioned it as "old editions") and wich are the edition where the foil just peels off.

    thanks for the time =D

    and thanks for the video

  • Hey,

sry my english isn't that good :/

What's the difference between the two sheets and which kind is it?

    Are they for an Overheadprojector?

Didn't understand it in the video. Sry.

    Greetings,

    koelbche :)

  • what are the dimensions of the proxy?

  • Where do you get the print of the cards on the transparent paper??

  • What are the dimension((i.e. pixel size)) to pront off the proxies

  • why dont u make some black lotus :D

  • @cantfindafkinaccount beacause any one would now they are fakes, and if u tryed to sell them he would get in deep shit

  • @Cheeser334 just for yourself and to show your friends...

  • @cantfindafkinaccount lol then sure =D

  • Does the second method only work for foils? Or can it be with nonfoils too?

  • nail-polish is acetone, but its diluted (takes longer). You can play them but you have to prove you own the originals, bring them in a binder or something. Say u play proxy's to keep the real ones from damage.

  • nail-polish is acetone, but its diluted (takes longer).

  • Does the acetone have to be pure acetone, or can you also use nail-polish/make-up remover?

  • Now would this be legal to use in an actual deck or would it be to obvious its fake

  • @LloydIrving100 If a judge catches it he'll probably kick/ban you and rip up your card.

  • @SirTannen unless you have an actual copy of the card on hand.... Alot of judges will understand that playing with a 200 dollar card is rather well... stupid

  • @servius1983 True.

  • "And now we can falsify magic cards too"

    - thepirate bay.org

  • SHINY

  • This is awesome, because now I can have a casual Jace, TMS deck!

  • What is the point of blank cards?

  • I see two major uses for this:

    A) Turn the advertisment cards into the tokens you rightfuly diserve!

    B) Make the fan made stuff in photoshop into a real card!

  • will painters tape work?

  • I got a question about the thickness of these proxys:

do they have the same thickness as usual magic cards?

cause i want to pimp my generals this way.

  • Why do so many people point out that you can't use Proxies in tournaments and official events? I've not once seen anyone trying to pass off proxies as real, they are always for fun or casual. for people that want stuff like Black Lotus in their deck but can't afford it and it doesn't matter if its real.

  • You dont event need an aceton. You can take off the foils just with your nails.

  • I hope Cathy's leg is better by now. Hang in there you brave soul!

  • What kind of printer did you use, and will any kind work?

  • Thanks for ruining MTG jerk

  • If it wasn't illegal id pay you to make me a textless black lotus lol argh but that would be sweet.

  • poor cathy

  • listens to you where you take pictures of the cards you give me the link of the site that I saw that the cards are already on board with everything ready????

  • heres a tip for people who dont feel like using acetone with the new cards

go to wallgreens or any store that sells 91% isopropyl alcohol (this stuff is strong shit btw)

take an unwanted common and put it on the bottom of the foil, take a qtip dipped in the alcohol and place the cards on the corner of your palm and apply a little pressure so when you wipe the corner with the qtip you dont get any on the side

now the transparent foil layer and the corner should curl inwards to rip off :)

  • use Scars of Mirrodin foils they get off in like 30 seconds

  • @MrGarruk123 What 30 seconds? I have great difficulty in deleting cards with acetone or other solvent

  • lol i got mine off in 30 seconds

  • what type of printer do you use?

  • Hey I have a question If you print it on a transparency film isn't supposed to be really shiny? how come other proxies have the same surface of the original? or am I just missing something in your tut? let me know thanks!

  • damn is there anyway to tell there fake? because magic is fun as hell but its even funner when you got fetches and all that shit yaknow?

  • Wear do u get your pics? cuz i can't find any that are just the card like what u have

  • Hello i have a question about the printing process. Is there any particular settings you used to print these images dark and correctly? i have a problem where i printed and i got very transparent images with almost no colors or detail .

  • the best way to make proxies is just to photocopy the card onto the card

  • why is it that when i try to print on the transparensy it comes out blobby?

  • Proxies are fine and fun. In fact, I plan on doing some when I get the supplies, but please, don't sell or buy these online. Support the artists.

  • @Nodrog666 Fuck that, get rich or die trying.

  • I was curious as to what kind of printer you used. can it be a laser printer or does it need to be an inkjet printer? also, what program did you use for the cards and what is a good website for alternate art and things like that.

i was very curious for creating an all foil proxy edh deck and perhaps even a cube later on. I hope you can answer my questions!

  • alll this work for a valueless peice of garbage so you hipsters cna look cool and scam people when you're done with it.

  • If I wanna proxy to play it in my deck I usually print out a picture and stick it in a sleeve with a real card.

    @Anthoric

Valueless? Have you seen how much people will pay for these cards? I'd never try to sell a fake card and stuff, but still

  • @Anthoric I doubt hipsters play mtg.

  • @Anthoric yes..... cause people are trying to look cool playing magic. thats like trying to turn a girl on with DnD man. think about what your saying before you say it dumbass

  • @NewAgeEagles

DERP A HURP A HUER HIPSTER FAGGOT DETECTED, go back to your ibook and macpod you shitcockassfuck.

  • IF YOUR LOOKING TO BUY PROXIES MSG ME

  • BUY MAGIC PROXIES! MESSAGE ME.

  • Hey, this is great to show how to make the actual proxies, but what about the images? where do you get the images? how do you print them?

  • @Patronux you can use magiccards.info

  • Un taller de lavado de magic....

  • What spray do u use?

  • y damage the card after u payed for it?

  • @NJ2VERMONT Some cards are not worth playing.

  • urza legacy was the first set to use foils not mercadian masques

  • Proxies are generally not allowed in tournaments, if it is a simple FNM and you are just proxying basic lands, you can talk with the event organizer and have them make a decision, more than likely it will be a no due to the fact that there could be miniscule differences in thickness that would make the individual card identifiable while in the deck.

  • i have a question can u use proxy basic land in tourney like FMN or something else??

  • thanks so much for this video, I've been making proxies a different way for a long time but this way seems more professional

    appreciate it!! :)

  • what is the paper type used ? 'cause it's transparent.

  • Would this work for yugioh cards??

  • Gimp works to flip images as well, and it's free legally, rather than pirating a $400+ software.

  • Where can I find images of alternate art cards? Images I can use to print out?

  • i dont get it, why would you destroy a freaking foil card just to make a proxy?

  • @TheFearhunters sooo....you would rather have a crappy foil mountain instead of a foil....jace?

  • Or better yet why do you even have to mirror them??? Cant you just print them regularly then put the glue on the other side???

  • @DougDoesIt If you print them normally it may look right when you print them but when you go through the process of applying them to proxies they will be backwards...thats why you mirror them. (Mirror/rorriM)

  • Could you please explain how to print out the proxy images like that? (mirrored and correct size)

  • Thres something i dont get : whats the point of peeling off the foil layer ?

  • Thres something i dont get : whats the point of peeling off the foil layer ?

  • you do not need acetone... I use alcohol, As a matter of fact I use germx hand sanitizer. and if you get it on the back there is no problem.

  • Kathy lived with leg pain for TWO years....

Then she came to see us.

  • can you say they are PROXIES and sell them as such? or is that illegal too?

  • @salvador8702 just make sure you inform the artist that you are about to make a profit off his work, i´m sure he´ll be all rainbows and sunshine about that idea

  • What kind of printer did you use on this? O_O

  • Hey is it just me or do mirrodin besieged foils became blanks? The foil doesnt stay...? I don't know but it doesnt work for me.... also scars are like REALLY easy to get off in a quick amount of time.

  • @HarderTimes I'm needing some help with working on these. Could you check your private messages please.

  • Just got done making me a playing set of Shevan Dragons but with Charizards lmao.

  • Are these all foil tho? Like I have the blank white card, but I wanna makea Black Lotus(not to sell just cuz i really really wanna make a black lotus to use haha) but obviously I want it to look legit as hell and theres no such thing as a foil Black Lotus. So If I were to just simply print onto the blank card would It still pass the water test??

  • "cathy suffered for two years with leg pain"

  • do ppl pass these off as real cards?!? or do they look like proxies...I would be pissed if i traded for one...

  • can you use proxies in mtg tournaments?

  • why waste this much time on proxies ? just print on a thin paper and put it in the sleeve with a land card or token than spend more time playing

  • @khunjander some games, such as EDH allow the use of proxies for certain cards. i.e. the power 9.

so a little sheet of paper wont cut it.

  • What kind of printer and sizing do you use? I tried to print a blank card but sizing in photoshop sucked and the card came out pixaled

  • Word of advice: Harder than it looks!

    I bought foils, glue, acetone.

I cleared a foil card PERFECTLY!

I printed out the proxy perfectly, but wait, it's the wrong type of foil, a type where the ink will NEVER dry, kind of like wate drops sitting on plastic.

The glue is too spattery, after glueing the two layers together and not moving them around at all to get everything centered. The glue finally dries and it looks horrible. Oh and here's the funny part, I glued the card on upside down.

  • @GoneGuru99

I was trying too, but with non-foil card, and those cards are horrible.

  • what kind of printer do you use?

  • what sort of printer do u need to have in order to print it out perfectly into the transparency sheet? im really keen on havin a JTMS with PV's face on it, a grizzly bear with Brad nelson, a Menarch with LSV and so on, id make a mural of pro tour players and they magic look alikes to show on the next gp london ;p

  • the Tranparencies cost like 30$ here and i dont have the moeny to do that, is there any way to make foil cards w/o transparencies and it will STILL look foil?? cause printing it out on paper wont make it look foil :( PLEASE RESPOND!

  • Really wish proxies were tournament legal. Would be nice to make some JTMS instead of having to buy more.. lol.

  • Remember kids no making 107$ Jace the Mind Sculptors for 1$ now thats just how you get in trouble.

  • what's the spray u used to paste the drawing to cards?

  • what's the spray u used to paste the drawing to cards?

  • This is quite amazing! thanks : ]

  • Meth labs: Also ruining MTG.

  • @JanderStrahd Meth labs just cant stay out of everyones business.

  • imma go try this, i have 60 foils where idc about. for people who dont get them, just look on ebay/webshops at bulk foils. they are just 20 cent each for 100 or so.

  • Where to buy the transparency, and how to print on the transparency?

  • Is the ink on the transparents that thin for the foil effect to work?

  • hey how to make the prints the same size as the cards?

  • I found that the premium all foil sliver and fire and lightning decks are actually easier to wipe the ink off than the old foils.

  • Nice Work dude ;)

  • hi one question how you print the images cards

    thanks

  • @xxXXjuliasoXXxx There are some sites, like tcgplayer[dot]com who have buttons to "print proxies."

For example, if you wanted to proxy a forest (for whatever the reason may be), there is a button below the "HTML link to this:" box that lets you get 1-4 proxies, I assume you can go to Paint, and make that 9, or however many you can fit in one page of Transparency.

    Hope this helped. -Dragonstonewolfe

  • oh Ura is the first foil set, not masques

  • MM was not the first set they did foils in. Check your facts.

  • @bazaaretw

    Yeah i was like...wha??

Urza's Legacy was the first set to have foils randomly distributed in the packs. I know..I was there and I still have a full set of it.

  • what's this transparent paper used to make proxy ?

i want to make a foil myrs proxy

  • hey guys. Also the newest set scars of mirrodin has really crappy ink and can be rubbed off by acetone like mircadian.

  • can you make proxies from non-foil card too?

  • can you use your printer and print directly on the blank card for proxy?

  • In order to legally sell a proxy you can't use WOTC art, WOTC templates or WOTC backing. Whats the point??? It's nearly impossible.

  • sooooo why you wanna do this?

  • you should uh.. proxy me 4 jtms =) ill pay for the 4 cards and shipping.

  • Hey guys, I hope this video helps. But I've noticed a bunch of the proxies made on MTGsalvation forums pop up in ebay. Don't be dumb, Hasbro is really good as taking ppl down for copy-write violations, and the artist will have something to say as well.

Cheers. And have fun with it

  • @HarderTimes

Hey I think you did an awesome job, the only thing on my end is when i try and remove the foil from the card, the foil comes off but.... the card is not smooth like yours was, its ruff and i was just wondering what im doing wrong lol

  • @HarderTimes Hasbro doesnt do shit about it. Just letting you know... But ya, wish people wouldnt do that.

  • @HarderTimes

A lot of people also claim that it is a proxy. explaining that its isn't real and everything. Those are the people who i like. Its not like you can just go out and buy a fucking Mishra's Workshop. So its nice to have a proxy of it since they are still legal in things like EDH.

  • @HarderTimes what if someone makes their own personal proxy art for a card? Can't you sell them at that point?

  • how do you get such detailed card faces printed out?

  • @plasticbag25 seriously how do you? i have a good printer but still the artist and "tm & c 1993-2010 WotC LLC.... are blurry :/

  • What kind of printer do you need to make such detailed proxies?

  • does a color laser jet also work with the clear film, or does it need to be ink?

  • denatured alcohol removes the ink on scars of mirrodin foils

  • scars of mirrodin foils work great for both the foiling and blank proxy process
