Why do the men climb different routes from the women? Where I climb there are plenty of girls who are better than most of the guys.

women just can't compete at the same level as men in elite bouldering. overall in climbing, men and women are nearly dead equal (lynn hill, josune, beth rodden being perfect examples) but in hard, powerful bouldering, 5'4" women are just not going to be able to do the long powerful problems that men can.

that said, i have seen comps that share some mens and womens finals problems. usually techy, crimpy balance pieces that favour neither sex.

ok so i work for this company...and no this is not bullshit...the white and black marks are indeed route deliniations, women on white and men on black. Sharma is not shown doing the last problem because the ascent of problem 4 was the climb that won him the comp. as for entering this comp and having sharma show up. this was a pro event that anyone entering would know how strong the field could be. that should put this argument to rest. those marks show them which holds they can use for each route (i.e there is a black route and a white route) if they use a hold with the wrong colour they fail the attempt.
