The vietnam war really was terrible, and it was impossible to sustain finacialy, it cost the americnas $3million doallars, AN HOUR! it cost aprox $400000 to kill each guerrilla fighter, while the average vietnmease person earned just $50 a year. the war was unwinnable, whatever they did it just fired more vietnmease people up into joining the army to oppose them. in a way they created there opponents, forcing the vietnmease to opose them inorder to survive

I was in country in Naval Intelligence in 1965 and discovered we were not allowed to win the war. We could have won the war at any time but the directives from the White House were to perpetuate the war and every commander in that theater knew it. LBJ and his cronies were personally making millions off the US troops they were having killed. Honoring his memory in any way disgusts me.

Actually I was sort of kidding I known exactly why, I was just being sarcastic. I'm in the Army so I wouldn't consider Mai Lai to be the norm, but it did happen. Johnson reminds me of Bush cause they're both from Texas, they've both got us into wars we cannot win, and they've both been very shady in making national security decisions and both have made government more authoritarian and less democratic, here and around the world.
