@Stainlegend The bible definitely paints it a bit differently. Thankfully, It's a very clear picture! Apart from Him we are indeed failures, capable of accomplishing nothing, much less pleasing God. However, when we become His children, we become new creatures -- no longer of the lineage of Adam -- and receive a measure of His spirit which enables us to do all things! Christ said, "Be perfect as I am perfect, and holy as I am holy." That's our goal. He just uses our mistakes along the way :)

@Ashenion22 To me, life is about following Jesus with all you have inside, to live a life that is a blessing to others. It's not about all of the rules of religion. You can have as much religion as you want, but if He doesn't have your heart, it's meaningless. I think it's more of him asking God to bear with him while he's going through these things. It's like a letter to God telling Him that he acknowledges his short comings and he's down here trying his best, you know?
