  • great vid just took mine apart and back together awesome thanks again!!!

  • Great video and lots of help. I'm trying to resurrect a old Model 11 shotgun that belonged to my grandpa and its has a lot of special memories for me. It has been out of service for a long time but a good cleaning and maybe a part or two and the birds had better be careful!!!

  • You are a badass.

  • Thanks for taking the time to put this video together and sharing so others may benefit! Next time I'm up that way on Rt. 1 I'll stop in and say "hello."

  • Priceless info. Thanks for posting.

  • Jim;

Thank you, I was a bit stumped in the disassembly of model 11 bolt assembly. Your video clearly explains the details. Semper Fidelis from a navy vietnam vet & thanks for your service.

  • This VID was awesome. I just wish you went more into the reassembly part! :)

  • Excellent video - very helpful as I have inherited a Model 11 that has not been cleaned for a very long time. Would never attempt the job without your help here.

  • good stuff! In '65 or 66 I bought new a Sav. Mod.750 when I was in High School. Over the next 5 yrs I tore that thing apart so many times I could do it in my sleep. Nothing wrong with it, it was just fun. Sold the 750 when I got married. Just picked up a 740 yesterday. Your video was a great "refresher course". (Maine is a hell of a way from Nebraska or I'd stop it) Thanks

  • I am having trouble getting the bolt out of my Model 11 Sportsman. You talk about lining up the pin with the cut out in the right hand side of the receiver and driving the pin out from the screw hole on the left side. I do not have the cut out in the right hand side of my receiver that you show in the video. Can I fit a punch between the receiver and bolt on the right hand side and drive the pin out the screw holde on the left hand side? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Awesome video! I recently came accross a 1905 model 11 and was unsure how to DCOA and now I know I can handle it. The only thing I would have asked for was a little more information and description on how that magazine ring works and how it can adjust the the recoil. Thanks for the info, wish you were in Texas!!

  • was the japan model made for japan or for cheaper prices to America

  • @ST4leave

Not necessarily cheaper for the American market. Miroku has been producing Browning and Winchester marked guns for a very long time. Many are of fairly high quality.

  • JIM, YOU ARE THE BEST. YOU AND I HAVE TALKED BY EMAIL IN THE PAST. MY MODEL 11 IS STEAL ALIVE AND DOING WELL. AGAIN THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT VIDEO. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION OF SPRINGFIELD A1 MILITARY SPEC 1911 45 CAL?

  • @MRJ171717 Well if you notice in many of my videos, I carry a 1911A1 pistol on my hip. It's one of my two concealed carry guns. The other is a Taurus 608, an 8 shot .357 magnum. So it's a safe bet I like 1911's, do you think ? No striker fired plastic guns for me..... nothing wrong with them, but I am a traditional gun sort of guy.

  • thank you

  • Awesome video...thanks for putting in the time and effort, greatly appreciated.

  • @ftf1987 Thanks

  • love my auto 5. ive taken it apart the barrel from the reciever to clean it but never gone this far. great video!

  • You have an amazing Moustache, sir.

  • THANKS A MILLION. I DECIDED TO TACKLE CLEANING MY POPA'S OLD 1956 A-5. WOULD HAVE NEVER SUCCEEDED IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOUR VIDEO. THE GUN HAD BEEN HUNTED HARD AND I KNOW IT HADN'T BEEN TAKEN DOWN AND CLEANED FOR 40 YEARS. WHAT A MESS IT WAS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MUCH CRUD IN A GUN THAT WOULD STILL SHOOT . IF HE WERE STILL ALIVE HE WOULD HAVE SAID "BOY LEAVE THAT GUN ALONE, IT'S BEEN SHOOTIN JUST FINE AINT NO REASON TO GO AND TAKE IT APART YOU'RE GONNA BREAK IT ". YOU KNOW HOW THEM OLD FOLKS ARE

  • best auto5/ model 11 disassembly video ive seen. thanks i have a savage model that ive been wanting to tear down, now i can

  • @mrgq1969

Just keep in mind that even though they are similar, there will be some diferences between the Savage 720 / 750, the Remington model 11, and the Browning A5.

  • where can i get a good set of screw drivers for this kind of work?

  • Thanks for the video...really good. I was afraid to tackle cleaning, but with your help I did it. I did not take out the trigger assembly though.

Took the gun out, and it will kick the first shell really good, but after the second shell chambers, the trigger acts like it is on safe, and will not pull. Any suggestions on the problem here.

Thanks in advance for your help

  • Excellent instructional video. Well presented and very well done.

  • thank god for your video, I was in a hurry and just dove in, forgot how i took it apart. Thank you for your help!

  • I've got a 20ga model 11 that was my dads. Very correct on using special screws. I "bugger'd" one of the screws up when I was younger trying to take it apart. I might give it another try now that I know how and have better tools at my disposal.

  • how many actually used in ww2?

  • ok i follwowed all your steps and dissassembled my browning a-5 but when i put it all together the cartridge lever wont lock into place which causes the bolt to not lock into place. idk what to do and i'm getting really frustrated is there something you know or to do? have you had this problem before? it' the cartridge lever which pulls shells from the magazine tube into the chamber. when i cock the bolt it just sits there. its almost as in theres some spring that is in the wrong place. help!!

  • @CodyCurry19 i had the same exact thing happen to me today! i too my model 11 apart and after a few hours of frustration i gave up. my bolt just sticks there too. Did you fix it and if so how did you fix it? i might try greasing the spring but idk.

  • @MrBuckkiller55

Guys, try disassembling it again and make sure you get the lifter installed with the proper side up.

  • @downeastgunworks i fixed mine. The spring tube was in the stock not atached tho the gun. I dont know why it would come undone? i just shot it. When i tighten the guns bottom screw up(the one with the little one next to it to hold it in place) it wont work. It works if its not real tight but its a bit loose? How common is it to have the spring tube come undone? I loved your video btw.

  • Really helpful.Thanks so much.Paul

  • Thank you for the video. I Have a question though. After dissembling my Model 11 and getting it back together, the bolt release will no longer send the bolt home and the bolt gets caught on the shell lifter and no amount of force will send it into battery. Is this common or did i make a bad mistake?

  • @morepaincom You might want to disassemble the gun again. Take you time as you do and look everytihng over carefully. You might be able to catch the problem then. Without having a chance to look at the gun myself I might have a hard time diagnosing what might've went wrong. You can always call the shop if you can't get it figured out.

  • @morepaincom i just had a similar problem after reassembly. i found that you need to remove the trigger group again. slide the bolt all the way forward. push the lifter up slightly, then replace trigger group large pin first.

hold the lifter up still as you install the small pin and test. otherwise disassemble and look for a bind or a broken spring. make sure the bolt rod is contacting the action spring.

    hope it helps

  • thanks jim, great video!!!!!

i have a savage 720 that needs some serious cleaning, this is gonna save me a lot of cussing. thank you

  • @madaboutpix

Well I reckon the air will be easirt to breathe if you ain't making it turn blue.

  • Good video , I have that very same gun .

    Thanks

  • im not sure i understood for lighter shells put it at the back?

  • @ablemancanada

I have seen these braking rings put in the back for lighter shells. This would mean NO brake or slowing down the action at all. What I failed to mention in the video is that there's a bevel on the ring. This bevel should face towards the action. It's what squeezes the bronze brake ring to tighten it against the mag tube. IF you're not shooting very light recoiling reloads then I'd leave the rings in place at the front.

  • Cool stuff.

  • Whats with the quality?

  • @HomeMadeGunNut After uploading a video, it can take up to a couple hours for YouTube to fully render the video in its uploaded quality. All GunWorks videos are rendered in 720p high definition.
