  • You are basically displacing the 2 notes from snare. Same on the 3 snare pattern too.

  • man that snare sounds good!

  • loving the snare drum, its so joey jordison

  • Poly rhythms will train your left hand too

Like a 4/4 beat but your left and playing 3/4

then playing these double strokes and triple strokes on top of that ;) pretty amazing if anyone reads this and wants to try it

  • That is ONE way, but matve not the best way. The best way is to isolate the left hand and work on the arm, wrist, hand and finger strength independently. The second most effective is then to do drills such as these, moving around note placement to any of the "big 15" combinations. You can do the same with the right foot, which is perfect for getting comfortable with any possible note permutations and also great for lh/bd independence, which is really rooting your balance.

  • he reminds me of jason segel for some reason

  • how is that snare mounted? suspension mount?

  • Yeah, that´s right!

  • @jodgey4 @jungleritter What means Suspension mount?

  • you rule man... thank you

  • the best way to train up the left arm, is simply to use the left hand as leading hand in drum beats

  • really impressive, bro- thanks for the neat tips...rock on

  • hay jung what does it mean when drummer says play on the 2 and 4 what do they mean cheers jonny

  • Hey Jonny, play on 2 and 4 asks you to play strong (backbeats) on beat 2 and 4. So if you´re playing a 4/4 beat, you count till 4 and you play strong snare strokes on beat 2 and 4..

  • say your counting 4 beats.....1, 2, 3, 4. play on the 2nd beat and the 4th beat

  • Yay! Cool... I'm trying this on my didjeridoo (and maybe post a video of it). It's a pity you live in Canada and I live in Italy, we could make good jam together! :-)

  • Yeah, that would be fun!

You wrote: "we could make good jam together!" I had such a good laugh, do you know what it means? It means we could make some great marmelade, isn´t that funny? I liked your didgeridoo skillz a lot, keep up the good work

    Ciao

    Ydna

  • LOL ^_^ ... I meant to say "jam session" but my english stumbles sometimes. :D

  • Ive been playing 5 years, and my left hand still needs to speed up...

  • hey you are the man

  • What's your snare drum you used in this video?

  • That´s a 10" Mapex Black Panther

  • No wonder! Sounds fantastic. I use a 14" Mapex Black Panther Birdseye Maple. How much did you get yours for? My tutor had a 10" Bronze for sale on ebay and it only went for 85 sterling! I would of paid more if I knew about it. I'm looking to buy one actually... if you know any good places that'd be great!

  • I found this one on ebay for 250 bucks, that was about 4 years ago, I don´t know about any on sale at the moment, keep on looking :-)

  • nice..

  • Machste richtig gut! *****

  • jeez you look sleepy! lol great video!

  • i presume that these exercises are relevant to using a normal snare instead of an auxillary snare. if not it would be good if you did a video about left hand exercises on a normally placed snare.

  • It really doesn´t matter which snare you wanna use for these exercises, if definitely works on any snare drum

  • I have never ever heard such nice sounding drums , you must be tuning and recording expert whereas a perfect drummer. Could you please list your hardware specs for recording ?

  • Nice video Ydna! Your drums sound great! Which software do you use?

  • Hi Ydna

    Is that a remote Hi-Hat?

  • The effect cymbal to my left is a Sabian Chopper and the Hi-Hat to my right is a X-Hat, means it´s closed all the time, I can´t open it with my foot. All I can do is to open it a bit for a half open sound, but that´s good enough for the stuff I use it for..

  • Thank you for the left hand placement exercises.

  • Thanks for another amzing video Ydna!:)

Can't wait for the next one!

  • thanks for this. very helpful and you sure can play!
