That is ONE way, but matve not the best way. The best way is to isolate the left hand and work on the arm, wrist, hand and finger strength independently. The second most effective is then to do drills such as these, moving around note placement to any of the "big 15" combinations. You can do the same with the right foot, which is perfect for getting comfortable with any possible note permutations and also great for lh/bd independence, which is really rooting your balance.
Hey Jonny, play on 2 and 4 asks you to play strong (backbeats) on beat 2 and 4. So if you´re playing a 4/4 beat, you count till 4 and you play strong snare strokes on beat 2 and 4..
Yay! Cool... I'm trying this on my didjeridoo (and maybe post a video of it). It's a pity you live in Canada and I live in Italy, we could make good jam together! :-)
You wrote: "we could make good jam together!" I had such a good laugh, do you know what it means? It means we could make some great marmelade, isn´t that funny? I liked your didgeridoo skillz a lot, keep up the good work
No wonder! Sounds fantastic. I use a 14" Mapex Black Panther Birdseye Maple. How much did you get yours for? My tutor had a 10" Bronze for sale on ebay and it only went for 85 sterling! I would of paid more if I knew about it. I'm looking to buy one actually... if you know any good places that'd be great!
i presume that these exercises are relevant to using a normal snare instead of an auxillary snare. if not it would be good if you did a video about left hand exercises on a normally placed snare.
I have never ever heard such nice sounding drums , you must be tuning and recording expert whereas a perfect drummer. Could you please list your hardware specs for recording ?
The effect cymbal to my left is a Sabian Chopper and the Hi-Hat to my right is a X-Hat, means it´s closed all the time, I can´t open it with my foot. All I can do is to open it a bit for a half open sound, but that´s good enough for the stuff I use it for..
You are basically displacing the 2 notes from snare. Same on the 3 snare pattern too.

Poly rhythms will train your left hand too
Like a 4/4 beat but your left and playing 3/4
then playing these double strokes and triple strokes on top of that ;) pretty amazing if anyone reads this and wants to try it

the best way to train up the left arm, is simply to use the left hand as leading hand in drum beats
