Im going to try this again!I too was in the Marines(Force Recon) and i too was taught the hand to hand and i have boxed golden glove! Mixed Martial Arts has ruined the tradition and have the young (meaning time in training, Not age) really beliving it is something other than a SPORT. The CAGE, UFC, ETC are all sports. That is why there is a ref and a weight class. It has nothing to do with defending yourself. MMA teaches you how to fight, not defend yourself.
let's point this towards martial arts.. you can't bitch slap somebody seven times without moving your feet and expect that they don't hit back.. and don't you dare say anything about pressure points:P
Martial arts should focus on "alive" training. meaning that the opponent resists your attack. overemphasis on drills and block will only bind you down. it will make it up to your opponent to manipulate the situasion.
I agree with your statement 100%. Did you notice how long this video is? I guarantee you that GM has a whole lot more going on than what you see in this video. You know how easy it is to take a video clip or statement or ANYTHING out of context and manipulate it to represent one perspective or another. You are an intelligent person, please go to Chicago and see for yourself. Peace
there is a time and place for what your talking about but in this case hes using it to show all the possiblity of motion n if a person keeps trying to move forward that does work but more than likely a person changes where they go because of the way they were striked. 4 example i was hooked in the faces i wont b still looking forward i would looking to my left or right n my feet would e facing that way thats what you are taling about there is a time n place for those of these either 1 ...
missing and you have a few things missing but i totally understand what your talkin bout he does practice both of these i no becauz ma master guy trained wit these guys back in the day n he trains us the same way
With all due respect, Black people NEVER had a good reputation in this country. Your point is moot. Bro. Anthony is very capable of handling himself. I've known him for about 17 years. His brother Wayne (may Allah be pleased with him) was good as well. He was about 5'3" and could take down a man my size (6'3" and over 300 lbs.).
I think we need to go back to the 60's 70's period in Chicago where all this loud talk would actually be tested. I practice something other than this style, but I have attended class with some of these guys in Chicago. I have much respect for them and Master Powell. This is a serious, street applicable, well tested and dangerous martial art. RESPECT.
I bear witness 100%. One of the young brothers here in Milwaukee disarmed two armed (pistol) would be assailants (at different times)and pistol whipped the stupidity out of them muthajumpas.
To "MPA2000"...We prove our fighting skills everyday in the hood, and trust me, where I grew up and the environment I come from is a hell of a lot tougher than yours. I dont know Ju Jitsu but I have studied several martial arts, including boxing and practice what I can. I have never been beaten in a fight (by the grace of ALLAH) nor have I even been hit in a fight.
you can probably fight better than this guy in the video.. but I find it a bit disturbing that you have never been hit in a fight.. something is wrong when your opponent can't even land a punch on you..
This brand of Jujitsu works his instuctor Dr.Moses Powell taught this same art to the US Secert Service and the FBI. So it has been tested on the streets!Look people because a system is the in thing does not mean its the best system in the world! So lets stop the nonsense and TRAIN and use what we can from any and all! Because you wear a belt or a tile or study a certain system dont mean a thing it all comes down to "CAN YOU FIGHT" Not all BJJ fighter win in the MMA so that say what about BJJ?
you should be very skeptical when somebody says that they have trained secret service.. This is a sure sign of bullshit. some styles can decreases your fighting capability and you should be really skeptical when you train something that you are planning to use to defend your life/health. you wouldn't jump of a plane with a defect parachute now would you?
Dr Powell was the first person to give a martial arts demonstration at the United Nations building as well. One of his comrades teaches hand to hand fighting skills to the 101 Airborne, and ATF agents too. Do a little research for your self to verify what I am saying before you respond.
Hey MPA2000 Grandmaster Anthony is world reknowned but since you think that BJJ(the new hot thing) is so good and he is not i can take you to his dojo and i got a few cameras and lights we can set up and you can check his skill level out against your BJJ and then we will post it or better yet we can do a live stream from his dojo right here on youtube!!!
You want to convince me that this off brand of Jiu Jitsu works, then put it to the test like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and take it to the streets or to an MMA ring. Otherwise this is just another hyped up "Master" that any good street fighter or novice MMA fighter can take down.
u have no idea what you are talking about...this is the same form of martial arts used to train the FBI (Dr. Moses Powell) and other elite security forces. Anthony "Tony" Muhammad is also Captain Anthony Muhammad. He is apart of Min. Farrakhan's security force called the E-Team, aka Extraction Team. These negroes train just like military forces, except to protect a cult leader.
blaxidrums, respect to your comments, someone at last who realises the real way.if it works for you, then it works for you.peace to you .mark, kaeshi ryu ju jitsu uk
I used to do cage fighting before i left for college. I still train cage fighters, but i also practice a variety of combat styles. IF IT WORKS FOR YOU, THEN IT WORKS FOR YOU. It's just a waste of time arguing that any style is better than another. So long as it works when you need it to work, be happy.
am i the only one getting fed up of people thinking that cage fighting is the be all and end all of martial arts?? i personally have been training in kaeshi ryu ju jitsu for 30 years and i have been employed as a door supervisor since 1988,anyone who knows real combat will tell you 90 percent of fights start at talking distance ie wot the fuck you looking at??cage has rules street dont, unfortunately this a fact like it or not.ous mr muhammad,.im, liking wot u do,peace to you and family. mark uk
like i said before i been around since the 70's and i know for a fact that fedor emelianenko who is scared to fight in the UFC will get his fat over weight ass whipped just like you delgar1231234321,yureeka,and FloodTheBlock will!!! I am a student of Anthony's and i will meet all 3 of you guys together or 1on1 any where place or time to prove this and put it on youtube to show how you'll got you'll ass whipped like ya'll stole something!!!!!1
This "noob" used to be a guard at Riker Island. Have you ever been in a cage with two murderers with shanks in each hand?
Probably not...unless you had on a nice pastel dress and make up.
lol
thats what happens when you speak without knowledge. When you become a man, you will learn that you should know what you are speaking about before you open your mouth.
lol @ 100 lb punks...get a girlfriend or boyfriend or a life or something. I can tell by your video subscriptions that you are a lonely loser whose only comfort is vagina worshiping on the internet.
ok...I gave you a little attention...but you're getting boring now digital stalker boy.
what use is this art when you apply MMA rules to it? This isn't meant to be entertaining, it's meant to be a simple way to end a threat. VSK practioners would be disqualified in a cage match for using the things they practice. Cage fighting is entertaining BUT the skills can be used on the street, but VSK is simply for survival in a bad situation where a ref won't be around
peace!!! I want everybody to take time think back before this MMA thang jumped off when the martial arts fights were bare knuckleand for all on that MMA thang look it up and check it out!!!!
Indeed Mr. Jay...I saw how the UFC and other leagues changed from "No Holds barred anything goes action!" to packed entertainment very quickly. Do you remember when BRAWLERS dominated the game? The leagues started developing rules so the could "pretty" up the sport and package it for the masses. What do you think?
I have studied varies arts for well over 30yrs now and MMA is based on street fighting with a touch of BJJ if you can apply the technique and keep a hold of the guy!I am really so tired of guys new and old trying to say this is better then that and dont know nothing!Martial Arts is away of life not whats hot or in now!!! All arts are good in there own way cross train and develop self and learn self as well as your enemy! All arts are realistic if you are good at what you do!
I just have to say thank god people like this are a dying breed. Thanks to the prevalence of MMA, the public is no longer captivated by snake oil salesmen.
Its crazy how theres still some people out there who practice kung fu and think mma isn't realistic.
As a former kung fu practioner, I've left this guy and most others in the dust with muay thai and bjj.
I understand the nature of Martial Arts is to attract brutes with low vibratory rates. People like you appreciate the mundane aspect of the Art much more than the higher insights that come from years of physical and mental training. Mr. Silva would submit to GM Muhammad without a fight. Do your homework my friend.
As far as me...I use the principles of the ancient warriors. When in a conflict, use the most advanced weaponry possible to defend your life. I enjoy training in the arts, but when it comes to REAL self defense, my objective is to win with no possibility of repercussion or revenge.
Execellent job Anthony..I'm good friends and have done many demostrations with Grand Master Anton Muhammad. Check us out as well were also part of the Sanuces family. Be blessed! Don Parker, Master Instructor Executive Self Defense. OOSSH!
Let me help you!!! google Grand Professor Florendo Visitation,Dr. Moses Powell and Soke Lil' John Davis. All our world renown martial artist!!! Grandmaster Anthomy also holds black belts in other arts also but these are his main arts he is a memeber of black belt hall of fame and other various renowned martial arts awards!dont discredit what you dont know!Even with in BJJ there are many names! If you ask any older martial artist they will tell you cross training is best! learn all you can!!!
If you have any knowledge of the system, you'd notice how different they can be. i study under one of GM Anthony's top students and i teachand and train at his main current Chicago location. If your current martial arts suit your needs, then fine- more power to you. But if your goal is to be an effective warrior, not a sportsman whose wins count only in a ring or a cage- then you might consider any part of VSK JuJitsu. you aren't gonna try an arm triangle in a dark alley with multiple attackers
My question is why would I be in a dark alley at night thats asking for trouble. If I were in that situation I'd put one in an armbar and say if they dont stop I break his arm.. Your mistake is thinking all this will help you. In a real mult. attacker scenario IDC what you train in your chances are slim to none. Im going to focus on fighting one guy because, unfortunately to the scare tactics they're using. Most fights are one on one over a parking space or at a bar.
Most fights in YOUR area maybe...lol...I have to deal with 10-15 warriors when I go to the gas station at night sometimes. I walk confidently, because I know that I can handle quite a few of them very quickly. no disrespect intended...The Police department call my neighborhood Iraq.
yes those styles exist. there are many styles of jujitsu in japan alone. bjj is completely different from most of it. and few styles of martial arts have the effectiveness of the VSK JuJitsu system
respects to you and sanuces family GrandMaster Anthony.Sir i've watched and followed you for a while i think you were in barbados some years ago,i think you embody what Doc preached in your skills;i hope to be able to meet you one day;p.s would love to buy dvds but i live in barbados too much red tape to get them though.
I trained with this man & other 2 many 2 name greats @ a Martial Art Seminar N Brooklyn N.Y. (also it was a birthday tribute 2 Dr. Moses Powell founder of Sanuces style), a couple days ago. 2 see this man get down N person up close was something. GMaster Anthony Muhammad was N a zone demostating the different techniques applied N an assault. Video does no justice you'd have 2 see N person yall hear me.
I have four daughters and a sun...I am going to have my daughters in Escrima soon.
I like it because it teaches weapons first. A woman skilled in making a weapon from any available object(s) should be a pretty formidable opponent for any one.
What do you guys think? Everyone please feel free to comment!
In the Art of War, there are countless effective ways to demonstrate a Martial technique. Technique's are only effective given the practioners skill, timing, and his/her focus in the application. Grand Master A. Muhammad in my opinion is a Martial Artist of the highest order.
Grand Master A. Muhammad is not in my opinion, but IN FACT a martial artist in the highest order. His brother, Bro. Wayne (may he rest in peace) was no joke either. He was 5'3" but he could take down a man my size (6'3" and over 300)
and for those who questioned how many times my life has been in danger and followed that by "oh let me guess...never". I did have a rough child hood, riddled with fights, running with a crew, and jail time. but i got past that and grew up. and although i was training in martial arts at the time, i was not a martial artist. it was not until about 20 years old that I really starting understanding the spiritual nature of training, and honing.
its rediculous to me that someone who calls themselves a martial artist would be so narrow minded. even bruce lee said "technique with no sparring is like swimming on dry land". and thats true.
dude...do the knowledge for yourself. Go to any VSK dojo in the world and ask them to spar you. If you like sparring, I guarantee you a good time. It's no big deal G. Cats spar dang near everyday.
yes i know but some of your comrads have thought it prudent to write me to tell me about my ignorance, and to find the "truth" and whats "real". All because i asked a damn question weeks ago. I've grown tired of this "i don't want trophies in my coffin" bs i hear all the time from dudes that claim to have been in dozens of street fights, and try to put me down because i no longer go that route and instead compete against other trained fighters
but my question to those who have been writing me telling me how in competition you can't punch to the throat or groin or break fingers....when do you actually do that in the dojo. how often do you actually do a "deadly technique"???? you don't. you simulate it, as this video shows. of which there is nothing wrong, but how can you put me down for competing, and use the old cliche of "there are too many rules in the ring, i train for the streets" line to excuse your lack/fear of competing...
apperantly some think that competition training is "such a waste of time" because it doesnt translate into reality, because there are rules in competition....well ofcourse competitors like myself train all techniques, but competition despite the rules allows you to adjust, react, adapt, to a flowing combat. no body will just stand there while you throw 4 punches, and elbow then flips them. all techniques, training, and competition make for a well rounded fighter, ring or streets....
These are probally the same idoits (the people commenting)who think MMA and Brazilan Jujitsu are the" best martial arts" around...Give me a freakin break! I had the pleasure of seeing a tribute seminar to Moses Powell in Brooklyn and yes those techinques work! I study wing chun, vee-jitisu and shotokan and now saunces ryu...there's no "real or best martial art" It's how can u express urself with that art is what counts. Much luv to the VSK teachers! R u guys in nyc?
Keep up the fantastic work that you,and the rest of the Sanuces family are doing to keep Dr. Powell's legacy alive. Prof.Wm.Allen Jukidokairyu Modern Veejitsu Arnis Karate-Do
looks like straight Kempo Jujitsu mixed with a little Aikido and Lima Lama which came from Which art???? hmmm 3 degrees? uh no. Good technique? sure but I did notice he was helped a little. The guy fell before the scissor was locked on. Is this Moses Powell stuff? looks like the problem is trying to do too much and have no depth.
Where did the Japanese get their instructions from? According to Shinto legend, the Black Gods of the Mountains civilized them and taught them martial arts among other things. Hmmmmm
what is a "real" martial artist? ...and what qualifications do you have that makes you an expert at certifying "real" martial artists?
let me guess...a "real" martial artist moves in slow motion, has supernatural powers, dodges bullets and all the other movie crap that your malnourished mind has been fed. you talking gorillas crack me up!
when was the last time you had a dojo situation in a real confrontation? ...the techniques are very fluid when applied by a practitioner who understands the free flowing dynamics of conflict interaction.
It is not a "traditional" style...you are correct!
with the punch past the uki's head, the GM was trying to avoid punching the uki in the face this is called focus and re-direction so that you can avoid injury to the uke when teaching very basic
ahhh the days of being an ooki. although I am thoroughly happy with the system I'm in now, i do sometimes remenisce of my childhood days in bujutsu, aikido, and ninjitsu. all of which were terribly similar....to this day i havent had the chance to throw a star at somebody = )
I don't understand how GM Muhammad having a choreographed demo (emphasis on DEMO) with trained partners detracts from his skill and abilities. Unless I'm missing something, GM Muhammad is a skilled practitioner, and I would say that if those techniques were performed on someone not expecting them (or someone untrained in martial arts), the results wouldn't be good for the the person at the receiving end of GM Muhammad's techniques.
don't you think technique is proved through competition, i would like to see him against other practitioners. its easy to beat up an ouki. does anyone know how he's faired in tournaments?
vsk was created for the urban streets of nyc not particulary for tournament trophies but the reward of making it home at night to your family which is the greatest medal and by the way this is just a demo not an actual fight so relax
no really?? its a demo? im sorry you felt you had to explain that to me. and trust me, there are much more realistic ways to train and demonstrate martial arts. unfortunately you have many "masters" who look awesome in such demos with unrealistic attackers, in these one punch scenarios, who i've sparred and suck pretty badly.
and this whole "urban street combat", "trying to make it home to your family" cmon man, these demos like most dont even simulate realism. that was my point. competition, whether grappling, mma, tai boxing, or whatever are close simulations of actual combat. no one in real life is just standing there while you manipulate them for 5 minutes.
i wasnt even trying to take anything away from him. i was just wondering if there was footage of him going against someone that was actually providing some resistance. thats all. i was actually please to see more black practitioners, so ummmm, you relax there "brotha"
On a personal level let me take this time to give you first hand information.Regarding the reality of Sanucues techniques .This style of Jui Jitsu as taught by the Grandmaster Moses Powell and passed down to GM Anthony Muhammad definitely does work .1st off myself..as
a student of the martial arts for over 30 years .Also as a student specificaly of ..the SANCUES founder . GM Moses Powell in Georgia and Michigan starting in 1989-1992 for 3 years .
Also as a student of one of his `7th degree black belts Master Bruce Sehou Landers .Whom this sensi has taught self defense techniques to a number of law enforcement officers state and federal .
are people still replying to my comments from months ago? I just asked if he had competed, because many people look awesome in choreographed demos against simple linear attacks. so i was hoping to see footage of him in some type of competition....oh let me guess, the techniques are too deadly for competition right? you guys are so touchy
I have never seen the Grand Master in a tournament. I HAVE seen his students (and his students students) hospitalize muthajumpas at tournaments though. lol.
I have even seen people leave a tournament when his students walk in.
is there any footage of that? im just curious, as a competitor and student of martial arts, its always good to see how a training style fairs against other trained opponents and not just demos. and again, my asking this is in no way disrespect. im just curious. im getting hate male from what seems to be some pissed of 5%-ers, and i dont see the reason.
My man Knowledge is on his way to my office...I'm going to check and see if his bldg has the surveillance footage of him disarming and pistol whipping a would be stick up kid. I respect martial artists who get down in the ring and at tournaments and such. The Police Officers in Milwaukee call my neighborhood Iraq. I am way more interested in knowing how to get down in the streets...lol...I don't want trophies on my coffin...lol!
I'm one on the "well trained dudes" in this video. Certainly we're taught how to "react" to techniques. But I don't understand why, logically, that implies that my teacher is anything less that what his title connotes. O'Sensei Ueshiba had students who uke for him. All great teachers have good students that can help them demonstrate their artform. His Grandmastership was bestowed by Dr. Moses Powell and is recognized by Soke Lil' John Davis (under whom he is Kudan). That's qualification enough!
naw that was for real they are really getting, hit he don't play, and that's like my uncle i know him, and the other people that were in the video personally!
That's awesome, though that doesn't stop the fact that Anthony's fighting a well trained "dude" who can react well to what he's putting him through. I just think a "Grand Master" title should mean a lot more than a well made video.
Sorry looking at this video, seems a little choreographed. Reason: foot stances of people being thrown ( look at toes up Stanc-feet back- before being thrown). And your grand master title 10, 20th rank whatever, is only as good as the grandmaster that gave it.
This "guy's" grandmaster is The late and legendary Grandmaster Moses Powell. Is that good enough for you? By the way GM Muhammad is hosting a seminar in Chicago June 22, and June 23. Please come and participate if you have doubts.
grimreaper68, the seminar will be at Gwendolyn Brooks High School on 111th and King Drive in Chicago. Friday from 6 - 8 pm and Saturday from 1-4pm. visit the VSK jiujitsu website for more info.
totally incredible; i'm from barbados and trained directly under doctor powell through zen 2 jiu jitsu sanuces it's simply brutal but yet beautifull;how could i get G.M muhammad's full training tape
Salaam and Ous Sullihcra, GM Anthony's has 3 training tapes ($60 for all 3). If you are interested call me (Abdul) at 773-220-0011 and I'll put this in motion.

With all due respect, Black people NEVER had a good reputation in this country. Your point is moot. Bro. Anthony is very capable of handling himself. I've known him for about 17 years. RESPECT.

To "MPA2000"...We prove our fighting skills everyday in the hood, and trust me, where I grew up and the environment I come from is a hell of a lot tougher than yours. I dont know Ju Jitsu but I have studied several martial arts, including boxing and practice what I can. I have never been beaten in a fight (by the grace of ALLAH) nor have I even been hit in a fight.
question772000 3 years ago
you can probably fight better than this guy in the video.. but I find it a bit disturbing that you have never been hit in a fight.. something is wrong when your opponent can't even land a punch on you..
stigander 3 years ago
This brand of Jujitsu works his instuctor Dr.Moses Powell taught this same art to the US Secert Service and the FBI. So it has been tested on the streets!Look people because a system is the in thing does not mean its the best system in the world! So lets stop the nonsense and TRAIN and use what we can from any and all! Because you wear a belt or a tile or study a certain system dont mean a thing it all comes down to "CAN YOU FIGHT" Not all BJJ fighter win in the MMA so that say what about BJJ?
mrjay15 3 years ago
you should be very skeptical when somebody says that they have trained secret service..

Do a little research for your self to verify what I am saying before you respond.
xsmegazine 3 years ago
Hey MPA2000 Grandmaster Anthony is world reknowned but since you think that BJJ(the new hot thing) is so good and he is not i can take you to his dojo and i got a few cameras and lights we can set up and you can check his skill level out against your BJJ and then we will post it or better yet we can do a live stream from his dojo right here on youtube!!!
mrjay15 3 years ago
You want to convince me that this off brand of Jiu Jitsu works, then put it to the test like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and take it to the streets or to an MMA ring. Otherwise this is just another hyped up "Master" that any good street fighter or novice MMA fighter can take down.
MPA2000 3 years ago
u have no idea what you are talking about...this is the same form of martial arts used to train the FBI (Dr. Moses Powell) and other elite security forces. Anthony "Tony" Muhammad is also Captain Anthony Muhammad. He is apart of Min. Farrakhan's security force called the E-Team, aka Extraction Team. These negroes train just like military forces, except to protect a cult leader.

I used to do cage fighting before i left for college. I still train cage fighters, but i also practice a variety of combat styles. IF IT WORKS FOR YOU, THEN IT WORKS FOR YOU. what use is this art when you apply MMA rules to it? This isn't meant to be entertaining, it's meant to be a simple way to end a threat. VSK practioners would be disqualified in a cage match for using the things they practice. Cage fighting is entertaining BUT the skills can be used on the street, but VSK is simply for survival in a bad situation where a ref won't be around

yes theyre all like the same thing though. Imma stick with BJJ, Judo, nd Kickboxing
judo1120 4 years ago
If you have any knowledge of the system, you'd notice how different they can be. i study under one of GM Anthony's top students and i teachand and train at his main current Chicago location. If your current martial arts suit your needs, then fine- more power to you. But if your goal is to be an effective warrior, not a sportsman whose wins count only in a ring or a cage- then you might consider any part of VSK JuJitsu. you aren't gonna try an arm triangle in a dark alley with multiple attackers
blaxidrums 4 years ago
My question is why would I be in a dark alley at night thats asking for trouble. If I were in that situation I'd put one in an armbar and say if they dont stop I break his arm.. Your mistake is thinking all this will help you. In a real mult. attacker scenario IDC what you train in your chances are slim to none. Im going to focus on fighting one guy because, unfortunately to the scare tactics they're using. Most fights are one on one over a parking space or at a bar.
judo1120 4 years ago
Most fights in YOUR area maybe...lol...I have to deal with 10-15 warriors when I go to the gas station at night sometimes. I walk confidently, because I know that I can handle quite a few of them very quickly. no disrespect intended...The Police department call my neighborhood Iraq.

In the Art of War, there are countless effective ways to demonstrate a Martial technique. Technique's are only effective given the practioners skill, timing, and his/her focus in the application. Grand Master A. Muhammad in my opinion is a Martial Artist of the highest order.
Ous!
BCS01 4 years ago
Grand Master A. Muhammad is not in my opinion, but IN FACT a martial artist in the highest order. His brother, Bro. Wayne (may he rest in peace) was no joke either. He was 5'3" but he could take down a man my size (6'3" and over 300)

and for those who questioned how many times my life has been in danger and followed that by "oh let me guess...never". I did have a rough child hood, riddled with fights, running with a crew, and jail time. but i got past that and grew up. and although i was training in martial arts at the time, i was not a martial artist. it was not until about 20 years old that I really starting understanding the spiritual nature of training, and honing.

its rediculous to me that someone who calls themselves a martial artist would be so narrow minded. even bruce lee said "technique with no sparring is like swimming on dry land". and thats true.

yes i know but some of your comrads have thought it prudent to write me to tell me about my ignorance, and to find the "truth" and whats "real". All because i asked a damn question weeks ago. I've grown tired of this "i don't want trophies in my coffin" bs i hear all the time from dudes that claim to have been in dozens of street fights, and try to put me down because i no longer go that route and instead compete against other trained fighters
leroydh 4 years ago
lol...I feel you G.
there are over 6 Billion perspectives in the world, and I try not to get caught up in any of them. ESPECIALLY mine!
xsmegazine 4 years ago
but my question to those who have been writing me telling me how in competition you can't punch to the throat or groin or break fingers....when do you actually do that in the dojo. how often do you actually do a "deadly technique"???? you don't. you simulate it, as this video shows. of which there is nothing wrong, but how can you put me down for competing, and use the old cliche of "there are too many rules in the ring, i train for the streets" line to excuse your lack/fear of competing...
leroydh 4 years ago
apperantly some think that competition training is "such a waste of time" because it doesnt translate into reality, because there are rules in competition....well ofcourse competitors like myself train all techniques, but competition despite the rules allows you to adjust, react, adapt, to a flowing combat. no body will just stand there while you throw 4 punches, and elbow then flips them. all techniques, training, and competition make for a well rounded fighter, ring or streets....

I don't understand how GM Muhammad having a choreographed demo (emphasis on DEMO) with trained partners detracts from his skill and abilities. Unless I'm missing something, GM Muhammad is a skilled practitioner, and I would say that if those techniques were performed on someone not expecting them (or someone untrained in martial arts), the results wouldn't be good for the the person at the receiving end of GM Muhammad's techniques.

vsk was created for the urban streets of nyc not particulary for tournament trophies but the reward of making it home at night to your family which is the greatest medal and by the way this is just a demo not an actual fight so relax
udeenallah 4 years ago
no really?? its a demo? im sorry you felt you had to explain that to me. and trust me, there are much more realistic ways to train and demonstrate martial arts. unfortunately you have many "masters" who look awesome in such demos with unrealistic attackers, in these one punch scenarios, who i've sparred and suck pretty badly.
leroydh 4 years ago
and this whole "urban street combat", "trying to make it home to your family" cmon man, these demos like most dont even simulate realism. that was my point. competition, whether grappling, mma, tai boxing, or whatever are close simulations of actual combat. no one in real life is just standing there while you manipulate them for 5 minutes.

Sorry looking at this video, seems a little choreographed. Reason: foot stances of people being thrown ( look at toes up Stanc-feet back- before being thrown). And your grand master title 10, 20th rank whatever, is only as good as the grandmaster that gave it.
