is there a certain way id have to prepair cricket ? usually with grass hopper i pull out the head and all the insides come out . i do that just cause one man told me of the possibility of tape worms . but i really want to try meal worm and cricket . also can i just wash and cook any live meal worm from pet stores and online reptile feed shops ? sorry for all the Q's ;3

You could just drop the mealworms in a bucket of hot water, they shit themselves which gets rid of their shit.

do they taste diferent once they are cooked, or do you need to "clean" their digestive tracts first with cornmeal or something?

@PikminGhost They absorb the flavors you cook them with, I used margerine(didn't have butter) and garlic salt, they tasted like crunchy pop corn.

I get mine from local pet stores. Then I freeze them, rinse them off, and bake them for a few hours!

budtheman1234 you can put them in a clear plastic bag and place them in direct sunlight. The sunlight will quickly break down their wax layer and they will dessicate

When did you start eating bugs? I'm vegan-but I have no problems eating bugs simply because we KILL bugs by the tons with insecticides which to me is a waste of perfectly good food. You can raise your own mealworms-all they are are beetle larvae. You can also buy them a LOT cheaper on line-order them by the thousand.

interesting, I've been breading my own mealworms for my reptiles. Just been raising them on unprocessed oats. Would they be safe to cookup as well?
