But seriously, it's probably because they don't hear them in the background of video games or on movies, or they're not played out on the radio. They're not mainstream, and some people are afraid to actually look in the sidestream for wonderful music like this.

honestly, the easiest/best thing I would recommend doing is to go to a site like Pandora and, like I did, type in a band from the 'era' of ska that you like. First generation could be Toots and the Maytals, Second could be The Specials, Third could be Reel Big Fish. You will get an awesome array of bands streaming through your ears, and you can make a choice from there. For 'chill' ska, I keep getting drawn to The Toasters.

Streetlight is my favorite band but i wouldnt consider them like any other ska band. Theyr their own genre, punk with horns basically, but just becuase they have horns people label them as ska.

I have asked them why, and they claim it's the tempo. They seem to think Kalnoky sings too fast and they can't understand the lyrics, which apparently makes the music no good. After all, anything without lyrics is clearly not music.
