I love this show! However, the later episodes felt kinda campy to me with the introduction of Robin, Batgirl and the Justice League. Actually, it didn't feel that much campy when Robin was introduced, but when Batgirl and the Justice League came, it felt kinda like Super Friends to me. IMO they should have just sticked with Batman.
FIRST TWO SEASON WERE GREAT REINVENTION OF CHARACTERS AND ENOUGH DARKNESS. What the fuck happened after season 3? Batgirl seriously? now batman should be campy even brave and the bold had ?chill of the night" to tie it down ended well too. Respect but this series went down hill. first two seasons rock. rest suck
I liked this joker for two reason and one is he could FIGHT batman hand to hand and not have to pull a knife or some cheap trick, he was literally a physical equal to batman, the only comic he's ever been like that in is Dark Knight Returns. The Second Reason the look was unnnerving and less organized so you felt more at unease watching him
This show wasn;t as good as BTAS. But it had something better than BTAS. Batman fights more like a martial artist and not some brute wrestler/street fighter. He actually is very swift and very powerful. Batman is supposed to have peak, almost near-superhuman strength and speed, ike in the comics, were he punches through a brick wall to knock out a SWAT officer, and, sometimes, dodges bullets at pint blank.
This show wasnt that bad until they brought Batgirl and Robin as childhis sidekicks for comic relief. Think the start of the serie was too dark for some gummy bear parents..
I agree I hate it when these parent groups interfere with the quality of the shows wanting to have every so bland and boring. How about they butt out.
@Kryptonian250 how about instead of sheltering us just let us have stuf close to the truth? it would help us adjust easier in the future too. its detriemental to our development cause we are being kept away from such things. after all parents int he wild bring up their kids to survive in the harsh reality not coddle them too much
This show. I couldn't stand it. Even though I was in the target audience I had watched BTAS and Batman Beyond when I was younger. Around the time this came out I saw Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and couldn't stand the watered down crappiness of this show.
@kingofburnttoast That Batman the Animated series was awesome does not mean that once that show is dead they should never try to make any new Batman shows again.
@kingofburnttoast simply to promote the Chris Nolan movies which actually do kick ass. So I guess one could say there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
@Apathy45 ya they like reimagined the characters which is good because theres no point in doing the same thing over and over but instead something fresh and this was fresh. it was still a dark series mostly in the beginning before robin and batgirl but it was still one of the top batman shows cause his enemies could actually fight like joker, and penguin, and the riddler
It was nice interpretation of his in this one. Not a slim guy as what were used to seeing. He seemed to have more muscle in this one as he was jumping around walss and such in some episodes.
@Apathy45 I liked it much better. the AS seemed to old timey to me. people can hate as much as they want I always liked the show. its stupid for all these old fucking men to complain "its not dark enough" when its a kids show...
@Kilox1000 yea but IMO this show was darker than BTAS at times especially the movie (I only know of one) as for favorites BTAS was my original and my childhood it's irreplaceable but this show was cool too especially since the villains all could fight
omg, I loved this cartoon because it didn't follow the classic batman type, it was something a bit more original, but nooooo, they had to change it and put gay robin and batgirl in there
This show isnt great compared to BTAS, but what about the stuff it did right? They knew they couldnt top BTAS, so they went a completely diffrent direction, and for what it is, its okay.
@TheVehicleDESTROYAH I agree, people hate on this show too much. Sides, Joker was even more psychotic than usual in this one, AND this one had vampires!
@djgodzilla94 In my opinion the fifth season got ruined because they were trying to make it more like a Justice League show than a Batman show and focused more on showing of the new heroes than making episodes with good and exciting storys.
Teen Titans fifth season had the same problem in that they were trying to make into a copy of Justice League instead of concentrating on the wonderful main characters and its great mix of serious storys and very funny crazy comedy.
I loved this show. It was dark and it was great for its first few seasons. It wasn't as good once Robin and Batgirl came on. If Twoface and Scarecrow would have been on here it would have been epic.
I was gonna ask which Batman this was cause there are like a million, but then I saw the joker. What the hell did they do to the joker?! I thnk the joker from Batman the animated series was the best one hands down. In an animated series that is.
The first 2 seasons were good, Until they bought in Bat Girl with a weak story line and Started to pander to little kids(Like most shows after BTAS, Justice League and Unlimited)... Show Had Serious Potential
I kinda hated this series, they seemed a little... childish to me, well, it IS compared with BTAS, and the next animated Batman was still more shitty, no ofense
@josemontenegro777 I agree with you. I am seriously afraid that after a generation or two, this show will be considered the next BTAS. Hope I'm wrong.
man this show was actually good. if any of you saw the Movie Batman VS Dracula (not sure if that was the name but i think it was the only move this series had) you saw that this series could be dark and a bit mature. really wish they could do a new animated Batman but for a more mature audience. really think it could have potential. who knows? maybe one day some one will.
The version of the Joker was TERRIBLE in this, but everything else was pretty damn good. Especially the origin story for Clayface. THAT was pretty cool.
@redmage87 That wasn't the real clayface origins though, that was just the catoon's version of Clayface. The real clayface was an actor who had an accident.
@Deadshot089 That's what I was referring to. I liked his original story in this show. Also, only the original Clayface from the 40s was the actor with the accident; there's been about 7 people in just the regular DC comics to carry the name Clayface. Heck, the first one to shapeshift was actually the second one (though the actor eventually got those powers, too).
I loved this show. I would say the best seasons were the first couple of years. Overall the show was good. I would put it up there with the another animated Batman adventures that came out 1989. I would say they were the two best animated Batman shows. The one that came out in 60s was okay, and the one that featured the voices Adam West and Burt Ward that came out in the 70s was okay as well.
I am so sick of interfering parents who want everything to be sugar-coated and watered down.
Us 90s kids had much darker shows than this, and it didn't do us any harm! With a few exceptions, children's entertainment has become boring (with Disney being one of the main casulaties).
@PaulAnt2008 spot on i learned so much from some of the serious animes the had on back in the 90's nowadays they put so much crap on i feel so sorry for the next generation of kids
@DarthPlagieus are 4real thats y they put it all kiddy???season 1 and 2 were the best seasons of this batman they messed it up when they put the side kicks and all that ect...
I have to give this show credit. Joker was "ok", you can't compare him though to the original one. Freeze, Ragdoll, Clayface, all were "redone" very interestingly, especially Clayface, who I think got overall promoted in series to the Two-Face rank compared to The Animated Series.
This was a good show for the first season, and then Batgirl jumped in, they changed the theme song and Poison Ivy was a high schooler and I forget the rest because I gave up watching.
This was a really good series I think, just some of the bad guys like Mr. Freeze was a bit of a disappointment to me, the Freeze I know was atleast somewhat good, and was looking for a cure for his wife.
Does anybody know the name of the supervillian that was incredibly stretchy. I loved him in this series. He was able to move his limbs in such an awesome way.
I would've liked this show better if they cut down on half those damn puns. It was less conversation or enemy banter than reading cliches off of flash cards.
"Cats always land on their feet."
"Mess wit ha cat, you get the claws."
"Don't you know cats have nine lives?"
"It appears I have bats in my belfry."
"Time for the punch line, Riddler."
"Chill out, Mr. Freeze."
"I wanna get high. Grow me some weed, Poison Ivy."
...okay that last one never happened, but I bet the others did.
the only thing i didn't like was mr freeze's origin in this batman. i prefered the tragic, saving his wife origin, rather than the "crook that got caught in deep freeze origin".
@AussieWrath give them some credit, the first 1 or 2 seasons were dark and creepy. it got less dark in the later seasons. besides, i feel that this joker was more real than the TAS batman joker, seriously.
@ToxinGrey Some main villains of the comic book, such as Two-Face, Scarecrow, and Ra's al Ghul, are not included in the show. This was due to an agreement with Warner Bros. not to use them because of the movies Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
@biostyle Well the show started releasing its inter potential with the Movie Batman vs Dracula but when parents noticed all the blood and etc the realized how violent the show was and complained. I believe U2 demanded too much money for the original The Batman intro,
@biostyle Agreed. The fights were top notch. I expected nothing less from the guys who worked on Jackie Chan Adventures. Robin and Batgirl were introduced way too early. That, and getting rid of the first theme kind of sucked.
@biostyle Batgirl was nice, but Robin gets on my nerves. The problem was in the end they tried to make this into a Justice League cartoon, a bad move, if the show is called The Batman they should focus on Batman
For the record batman rocks. I'm a spider-man mega fan but batman is my DC pick( other than the 2nd version of Superboy the over confident brash irresponsible clone of Lex luthor and superman DNA combined) this Cartoon was cool although I personally wish it were as dark as Batman TAS and Batman Beyond. They should make a new batman cartoon and tailor it towards his true roots make it more like his cynical edgy bad ass comic version
@PrivetCyan That's how they should do a new series of Batman. Just like that though with more characters most of whom are updated (like Goth Riddler from The Batman but more psychotic)
I don't understand why they got rid of this awesome theme and replaced it with a more campy theme. Is it because parents thought it was to dark for a kid's show? If so that's stupid! It's just music and it's not even scary.
I only liked the "JTV" episode due to all the hints to retro Batman. Other than that, it was okay...i didn't like the re imagined Mr. Freeze or Marilyn Manson inspired Riddler much.
B&B gets compared to TAS and TB, but what people need to realize is that those are very different shows. B&B isn't trying to be dark like TAS, nor is it sadly making a kiddy-dark like TB (not counting when he fights Dracula, of course). Rather, B&B is modern campy Batman; it adds enough action and dark to be above 60's Batman, but it's also ridiculous to provide comedy to long-time fans. It's SUPPOSED to be stupid, and if you think that as you watch it, you may find it better than you thought.
Also, it's really much better at putting focus on other DC heroes who are lesser known. I never knew most of those guys he worked with existed until I saw them on B&B.
Although, my biggest problem with B&B is their Joker; he sucks ass.
To many haters on this show. you all need to focus your hate on removing brave and the bold from the air waves of anything cause dear god i can't stand that show. NEXT BATMAN PLEASE!
bruce timm's version of all dcau characters r way better, joker is not suppose 2 fight he is suppose 2 be feared & over the top insane & unpredictable, plus evil funny
I've actually watched a lot of this show, and honestly its not too bad in my opinion. It's no where near as good as other Batman series, but there are some pretty good episodes of it and it's fun to see some different takes on Batman's characters. I will still say, that I dont like the Joker that much in this either though.XD
Brave and the Bold is about Batman training new coming, angst, teenage super heroes, and an emo Aqua man, while constantly flying out to space to combat aliens utilizing Green Lantern's power; that's not how Batman do his things.
90's Batman and Batman Beyond > Batman in Justice League >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brave and the bold
but batman's ambition is not about training superheroes and fighting galactic super villains to protect the world, and every superhero have moral, otherwise why do you think they become super heroes in the first place?
this show was, for the most part, awful. The character redesigns were hit and miss, hits being Mr.Freeze and the Riddler and misses being the Penguin and the Joker. Plus you know once you take away the Bat-Signal, its going to be all downhill.
i never watched this... i don't really like the animation style... taking into account that my favorite were the first 3 seasons of Batman: Animated series, and Mask of the Phantasm movie, is there any chance i'd like this, regardless of the animating style?
What are you talking about, the first 2 seasons are largely forgettable with lackluster origin stories that were stupid. I agree batgirl was crap, but those few shining episodes when it was just batman and robin were by far the best and most memorable, almost felt like tas, almost. Dracula was awesome as well.
this version shld be given more credit, the villains are radical!! i mean, c'mon martial arts joker and penguin, more sinister mr freeze, and bane, awesomeness!!! how can u not like it?

I love this show! However, the later episodes felt kinda campy to me with the introduction of Robin, Batgirl and the Justice League. @kievon the ending of this ? with the creepy voice

WHY DID THEY CANCEL THIS!? ITS BETTER THAT SPONGEBOB OR THE OTHER CRAP THEY PUT IN TV NOW!
Hypastpist 1 year ago
the only thing i didn't like was mr freeze's origin in this batman. i prefered the tragic, saving his wife origin, rather than the "crook that got caught in deep freeze origin".
wantonmee23 1 year ago
God I would love to see a Batman show thats stay true to the Comics a dark kind of tales and stuff let the Joke be the Real Joker
AussieWrath 1 year ago
@AussieWrath give them some credit, the first 1 or 2 seasons were dark and creepy. it got less dark in the later seasons. besides, i feel that this joker was more real than the TAS batman joker, seriously.

Never saw this one!

i missed two face and scarecrow very much in this series
ToxinGrey 1 year ago 65
@ToxinGrey Some main villains of the comic book, such as Two-Face, Scarecrow, and Ra's al Ghul, are not included in the show. This was due to an agreement with Warner Bros. not to use them because of the movies Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

@MrSouthAfrica2006 ok, thanks for that info

This show had potential. It became shit after Robin and Batgirl joined :-7
biostyle 1 year ago 75
@biostyle Well the show started releasing its inter potential with the Movie Batman vs Dracula but when parents noticed all the blood and etc the realized how violent the show was and complained. I believe U2 demanded too much money for the original The Batman intro,
Daxter609 1 year ago
@biostyle after it introduced other superheros too...
AdrianMorrison101 9 months ago
@biostyle we all agree with u man altough take out the sidekick characters and the parts with Clayface are really cool
shadowrizer3 8 months ago
@biostyle I could not agree more
VenomXR5 5 months ago
@biostyle This show had as much "potential" as the Nolan movies had.... in other words, jack shit.
kurvos 5 months ago
@biostyle Agreed. The fights were top notch. I expected nothing less from the guys who worked on Jackie Chan Adventures. Robin and Batgirl were introduced way too early. That, and getting rid of the first theme kind of sucked.
flaco3188 3 months ago

Kdotkon 1 year ago
@Kdotkon Look up Batman: under the Red Hood, new cartoon movie, incredibly dark, it's really good, someone put it onm youtube actually
Murdock129 1 year ago
@Murdock129 i was suprized how bloody it was saw it other night
PrivetCyan 1 year ago
@PrivetCyan That's how they should do a new series of Batman. Just like that though with more characters most of whom are updated (like Goth Riddler from The Batman but more psychotic)

Is it just me, or does this theme song slightly differ from season 2's? Sounds slightly faster and higher-pitched.

The only good thing about this show is like the last ten minutes of the theme. The show itself wasnt nearly a quarter of what the 90s one was

I don't understand why they got rid of this awesome theme and replaced it with a more campy theme. Is it because parents thought it was to dark for a kid's show? If so that's stupid! It's just music and it's not even scary.
KraigTheMan 1 year ago
I only liked the "JTV" episode due to all the hints to retro Batman. Other than that, it was okay...i didn't like the re imagined Mr. Freeze or Marilyn Manson inspired Riddler much.
Rexco33 1 year ago
B&B gets compared to TAS and TB, but what people need to realize is that those are very different shows. B&B isn't trying to be dark like TAS, nor is it sadly making a kiddy-dark like TB (not counting when he fights Dracula, of course). Rather, B&B is modern campy Batman; it adds enough action and dark to be above 60's Batman, but it's also ridiculous to provide comedy to long-time fans. It's SUPPOSED to be stupid, and if you think that as you watch it, you may find it better than you thought.
BalladOfGales 1 year ago 6
Also, it's really much better at putting focus on other DC heroes who are lesser known. I never knew most of those guys he worked with existed until I saw them on B&B.
Although, my biggest problem with B&B is their Joker; he sucks ass.

Brave and The Bold is Silver Age
Animated Series and all associated were Modern Age
And The Batman is Elseworlds!
Simple!

the ones that can't move on from TAS
RaphaeldeGhetto 1 year ago
To many haters on this show. you all need to focus your hate on removing brave and the bold from the air waves of anything cause dear god i can't stand that show. NEXT BATMAN PLEASE!
RaphaeldeGhetto 2 years ago
Brave and the Bold is based on the Batman that existed before you were even born. Respect the roots.

bruce timm's version of all dcau characters r way better, joker is not suppose 2 fight he is suppose 2 be feared & over the top insane & unpredictable, plus evil funny
jonizforce 2 years ago 2
@jonizforce he fought in that series too and he wasn't always feared either
and Ironic the Mr freeze in this show (was) more accurate to the COMIC
marnerbroman 1 year ago
I've actually watched a lot of this show, and honestly its not too bad in my opinion. It's no where near as good as other Batman series, but there are some pretty good episodes of it and it's fun to see some different takes on Batman's characters. I will still say, that I dont like the Joker that much in this either though.XD

the first 2 seasons of this show were the best the other ones were just crap.

Plus you know once you take away the Bat-Signal, its going to be all downhill.
thepope1932 2 years ago
i never watched this... i don't really like the animation style... taking into account that my favorite were the first 3 seasons of Batman: Animated series, and Mask of the Phantasm movie, is there any chance i'd like this, regardless of the animating style?
MatoVuc 2 years ago 2
First few seasons are mostly garbage, but when robin was added into the mix it was infinitely better.
originalarmo 2 years ago
@originalarmo what are you talking about? The first 2 season and The Batman vs Dracula movie are the only good parts about this series
It got crappy when they added Batgirl and even crappier when the added Robin
SuperGoku339 1 year ago
@SuperGoku339
What are you talking about, the first 2 seasons are largely forgettable with lackluster origin stories that were stupid. I agree batgirl was crap, but those few shining episodes when it was just batman and robin were by far the best and most memorable, almost felt like tas, almost. Dracula was awesome as well.
originalarmo 1 year ago
@MatoVuc No. The show is just plain bad.
