why the hell everybody in those bloody videos skip the step sending settings to FCB - because that's the real stumbling block. In my case, although I follow all the instructions in the pop-up window after clicking send, I never actually sends the parameters to FCB. So why not show how this very "sending procedure" works??? Everybody says "I've already done that". Come on! that's a tutorial, so you can't take anything for granted? Please do show!
hm can't get any MIDI input at all in amplitube in cubase here - I can't even enter CC values in that box, it does nothing! Any ideas? you seem to have got it working but didn't explain how to get the pedal to actually talk to amplitube - the only MIDI input selector I seem to find has StompIO and Stealthpedal options, and nothing else.
@sonicwingnut yeah, if your using it as a plug-in, the host has midi control. So what you need to do is map Cubase functions and use the "host automation" feature of Amplitube. Not sure if that helps, but I don't have Cubase. Maybe google Cubase plug in midi control. I'm happy to walk you through the Logic/Mainstage method if that gives you any idea to work on - just let me know.
@JasTheMusicman ah yeah, I shall have a quick look for that option now... oh dear I completely missed the bottom section where it says MIDI and AUTO..(doh) awesome I think I may be able to figure this out now. The nice thing with the behringer is it can send 10 commands at once so I'm guessing I can use program change messages for guitar rig and CCs for amplitube without changing settings on the behringer.
When will you give a tutorial on how to use the Behringer FCB 1010 with Ampli Tube 3 in Pro Tools LE 8. Can get FCB to work in stand alone but not in Pro Tools when using Ampli Tube as a plugin, By the way great video,Very helpfull.

Man thanks for your video , after watching your video I programed my Arduino Uno to act like a midi foot controller : sites.google.com/site/bharatbhushankonka/home/diy-midi-over-usb-using-arduino-uno
I just got a FCB1010 and a e-mu usb MIDI interface on a PC, and im using a program similar to iFCB called FCB1010 midi editor utility. i've tried and tired and still Amplitube fails to recognize the presets, it only seems to recognize the expression pedals. could it be that i need to update the frimware or could it be that i'm using a PC. if you could help or point me in the right direction i'd be greatful
- The FCB1010 doesn't have Press/Release functionality. If you have specified two values for one CC in your editor and use MIDI-OX, you will see that both messages are sent straight away when you press the switch.
- I don't know if this is your particular problem or not so let me know if you're using AT3 or AT2.
- If that is the problem though, all is not lost - the UnO chip supports Press/Release and only costs about 10 bucks so that will be a good option.
@JasTheMusicman sorry that it's taken me so long to respond, but i have AT3 and AT2 and all the add ons but the fcb1010 just doesn't seem to work i think this uno chip may be my last resort
This is some great information, thank you. Do you by chance know anything about the UnO EPROM mod for the FCB1010? It is marketed towards stompbox use but I think it has just made this process more confusing for me...Should I switch back to using the original chip?
Great question on the UnO chip...as with most things, it depends on your use.
To help you figure it out, lets just cover the main things that the UnO chip does first...to me, the main advantages are:
1) visual feedback of the pedal state (LED toggles On/Off), the factory chip just leaves the LED on after you press it so you can't tell pedal state from looking at the controller.
2) it "automatically" handles the MIDI CC manipulation for stompbox mode (cc values)
3) The footswitches can be momentary...one CC/Value is sent when you depress it and another when you release it. I can't believe this isn't factory chip function, but there you go.
4) There are other items but those 3 are the main ones to me.
Ok, so with that being said...I normally use Amplitube, etc as a plug-in to Mainstage and never in standalone mode. The importance of that is that I can get pedal state information right off my screen - I don't have to look down.
As for sending the two CC values to turn the stomp on and off, I use the iFCB editor to do that and it's very simple to do, so again, I don't need the UnO chip for that. An important note: iFCB doesn't work with iFCB.
The momentary function - yeah, I wish I had that and I can't simulate that function any other way, but at the same time, I don't need to do this much so it's no biggie.
So, in summary, I can get most of what I need that's in the UnO chip from Mainstage and I'd rather have the ease of editing that I get with iFCB than the UnO chip functionality and because of that I removed the UnO chip I installed and went back to facory function.
Having said that, if I were using Amplibute, etc in standalone mode or wasn't using Mainstage, then I'd probably want the UnO chip.
Sorry for the long reply, wanted to give you as much info as possible to help you make the call.
@JasTheMusicman I get what you're saying - and it helps. I'll be switching back to the factory chip then because your YouTube tutorials are just that darn awesome. Thanks!
@JasTheMusicman After switching back to the factory chip and trying to follow the tutorial...I am having no such luck. I get to the X-Gear part and it will not "learn" anything. Is there an initial start-up sequence that you've performed on the FCB unit (such as holding pedals 1 and 6 when turning on, or some other pedal combo)? I am able to send and receive...
Sure, no problem...I can create a stripped down version for you - like the test one I used in the videos. Let me know what you want programmed and I can do it and send it to you.
@JasTheMusicman That would be super. I am using the new Impact Twin interface and iFCB. I'll go ahead and find MIDI Monitor. As for the programming, I think essentially what you had in the video would be just fine, maybe including the expression pedals for volume and wah/whammy. Other specs. include: MacBook Pro, Mainstage 2 & Amplitube 3.
No problem, yeah, I would re-set to factory settings just to be safe. The 1 and 6 is fine.
You should also download MIDI Monitor (from Snoize, it's free, just google it) and that way you will be able see what MIDI messages are being sent out of the FCB1010 before it hits Mainstage.
Thanks!! This was very helpful and now I am turning stomps on/off. I do have one problem. I can only get one expression pedal working and then it only turns the volume from min to max - not gradually. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, this can happen for a couple of reasons...the first thing I would check is the calibration of the pedal itself.
Do the pedal calibration procedure, the instructions are in the FCB1010 manual, section 2.9 on page 12. Also make sure the low value is 0 and the high value is 127. Then re-learn the pedal in Amplitube, that should work. If it doesn't, just let me know and I'll help you work through the problem.
Rioght, I did the calibration and all is working now. I had also asked the question to Mel at iFCB and he walked me through it - suggesting the same thing you did. Now all is good. The only small problem I have is that the volume pedal seems very touchy. All the control seems to be in the upper 50% of the pedal action. The wah seems fine. If you have any ideas - please let me know. And thanks for the reply and awesome videos!
Thanks...got it set now as you suggested. I have it set the same in all presets, and it is with a range of 0-127. I was using CC#11 and switched to CC#27. In testing it was still seeming like all the volume is in the top half of the pedal action. Then I had a novel idea to turn up the Min level on the volume pedal. That gave me what I was looking for! Thanks for the help!
does anybody out there know if amplitube can sync to an external midi clock? i can't find that info anywhere.

Great, glad that worked. Glad Mel helped you out as well, he's a good guy who knows his stuff too..we Canadians are glad to help out :)
On the volume pedal, I would do two things:
1) Go through the same calibration process for that pedal too.
2) Check the range values of CC#7 (assuming that's the CC you're using for vol) in the preset of the FCB1010 and make sure the range is 0-127.
The range for the vol pedal can be set differently for each FCB preset, is the vol problem in all presets?.
