i have tryed to down grade from 3.1 to 3.0 and Itunes always pops up a restore error window... and ive made sure that i downloaded the right firmware using your link , also using firefox making sure it was in IPSW NOT zip... is it true what foxbody50302 said "you cant down grade becuase of the baseband"

you dont need firefox. just rename it from zipfile to ipsw. very simple fix

I have unlocked my iphone 3G with pwnage tool on my mac to 3.1.1. The only problem is that in the top left hand corner... there is no Tmobile or A&TT sign. Just a signal bar and wifi signal.

I can make calls and text fine with tmobile, but my iphone just does not say its connected to tmobile

i bought an iphone from a guy on craigslist i think it stolen directly from the apple store. Reason being you can't reset the iphone 3gs, you hold down any icon and nothing happens, and the photo's in the contact list look fake like taken from magazines or something. I tried to restore but it keeps saying not elligible for that build or something.

If u got a new 3gs u cant downgrade your phone. U have to w8 to the 3.1 jailbreak. Hopefully it will be out soon =)

Like an Idiot I did the upgrade to 3.1 I have a 16gb 3G bought this May. I have been able to get the downgrade to 3.01 from 3.1 using itunes on windows-twice,so far so good--But there is where the prob starts.After I downgraded to 3.01 even though the modem firm ware didn't change I should be able to re-jailbreak using the 3.0 .ispw method on 3.01- but I cannot get it to re- jailbreak-Hope you understand what I did and trying to do - Even in itunes it says 3.01-redsnow wont jailbk plz help if

sorry once you update to 3.1 on the 3GS you won't be able to downgrade. You will ahve to wait for the 3.1 jailnbreak. If you're subscribed then you will be updated once i upload a tutorial once the dev team releases the jailbreak.

Once you update to 3.1 your baseband will be upgraded so you will not be able to unlock until Dev Team releases a jailbreak for 3.1

so i have a problem... i am overseas with an american iphone 2g. i watched your videos and upgraded to 3.0.1 and then jailbroke and unlocked it myself. had no problems, everything worked great. well i accedently upgraded to 3.1. now i cannot get the phone unlocked again. it will jailbreak but it wont unlock. it just says no service. i have tried everything and i have no idea what to do. tried downgrading to 3.0 and 3.0.1 again then unlocking, nothing is working. please help!!! any ideas?

You must have an internet/data plan with tmobile to use the internet on the iPhone. But you can use the wifi for free.

You dont necessarily have to use firefox to download the firmware - use winrar and all you have to do is edit the name i.e change the name (and the end) to .ipsw as opposed to .rar or .zip

I was told on Cydia site that you can not downgrade to from 3.1. Only chance was if Cydia had an ECID SHSH on file for your phone.

The dev team said that the baseband can't be downgraded at the moment. I haven't updated to 3.1 so i can't confirm this.

I tried to down grade (3.0) but no luck. It would get about half way through and an error would come up in itunes. So I don't know if its a hit and miss for some that seem to be successful at downgrading or what. Any thoughts?

Did you reboot the iphone after installing ultrasn0w? You must reboot and if you're using Tmobile then you need to turn 3G off.

Since trying to downgrade from 3.1 to 3.0 my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode. I tried to restore using the IPSW for 3.1 but it requires the original sim or an iPhone supported sim, which I don't have. Any ways around this that you know of?

How do you know which iphone you have? 2G or 3G if your version is 3.1?

2G 3G or 3GS is the generation of the iPhone not the firmware version. 2G, aka is the original iphone with the aluminum and black back, the 3G is the one with the plastic white/black backing.

While restoring the process is unsuccessful and gives me an error code of 1015. From Apple I found this about error 1015:

Note: "Error 1015" is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone or iPod touch software available from Apple.

So what can I do to get past this?

i think its not about downgrading only but i think right now u can't install any firmware older than 3.1 on any 3gs...

my iphone came with 3.0.1 and for some reason it crashed during purplera1n then when now i cant install any firmware except 3.1... im stuck with it... damn ive waited nearly a year to get an iphone lol even before the 3gs came out !

Try rebooting your iPhone first.

If you didn't reboot your iPhone after you installed ultrasn0w (unlock) then it will not work, so you can try to uninstall ultrasn0w and then reinstalling it and reboot after install.

This video is correct you need to downgrade from 3.1 to 3.0.. I have mine fixed already and it is now working... I have not repaired it by myself but if you are in the Phils. you can have it repaired in greenhills..look for this guy "Minso"... not all of them can repair it. They will just charge you big and will have it repaired by the same guy..Minso..

Nice Video, thanks, but what I want to know is if I had updated to 3.1 firmware on itunes, can I still be with a different carrier i.e unlocked, because from what I understand this update changes the baseband which you can not downgrade, the current baseband 5.08 or something in that nature can it be downgraded? Otherwise this video is useless to many people whom updated a software unlocked iPhone.

Once you update to 3.1 you wont be able to jailbreak, even if you downgrade. I just put this video info not so you can downgrade and jailbreak 3.0 but so people know how to restore using a specific firmware they want.

you mean upgrade... since 3.1.1 is the newest. Downgrading means restoring to a previous/older firmware.

yes you can downgrade to a older firmware for ipod touch, use the same method by holding shift or option and press restore.
