I would be happy to (try to) show you how I play this. I am traveling for a month or so. Will work at it after that. And you certainly don't have to pay me!
Why the hell would you play an acoustic song on an electric? The whole beauty of it is how well it comes out when the only sound is it reverberating out of the hole in the center, not a digitized wail.
I'm not saying that I dislike songs done with electric guitars, I'm just saying that some acoustic songs need to be left as they are.
Thanks JimmyPage 159, Thorzak and darraghok for your comments. I'm not trying to be modest or anything...but half the trick is in the tuning...the alternate tuning ( DADGAD) makes the song a lot simpler to play ( compared to a standard tuning with which I initially tried and very promptly abandoned playing this song)
"white summer" is pretty much a cover of "she moved thru the bizzare" by davy graham, which is a guitar arrangement of the old irish folk song "she moved through the fair"
This guitar is a Yamaha Pacifica. Nothing spectacular. And it's my only guitar. After I make buckets of money I'll get a Les Paul!!!
I see that you like Sabbath. They were a great band. The genius of Iommi can be appreciated on 'Warning'. It has some amazing guitar. Some of his solos have the same guitarin both speakers with one lagging a fraction of a second behind...and sometimes the 2 tracks vary subtley...often not even evident until looked for... And Geezer Butler was phenomenal too.
Yeah, Jimmy Page was in The yardbirds right? Initially he played bass This was after Eric Clapton left the Yardbirds and Jeff Beck took his place on the lead guitar. After Paul Samwell Smith, the bassist left the band, Page played bass until Chris Dreja took over the bass guitar and Jimmy played lead guitar along with Jeff Beck. Subsequently Jeff Beck left the band and Page was lone lead guitarist. Their album 'Little games' has the original 'white summer'.
Thanks. Its actually much easier than it looks. Page and most other great guitarists sorted out half their problems by alternate tunings. This song is tuned DADGAD.
I am honoured that you even saw my video. You play the guitar as well as Jimmy Page! I especially like your 'The Crunge' and 'Since I've been loving you'. Really fantastic....every note is correct and no improvisations...Amazing!!
I loved it, a couple of things needed to be fixed up but other than that, good job. It looks like you self taught yourself based on the White Summer from the Royal Albert Hall, and I honestly respect that.
Thanks man, yeah I did try (unsuccessfully) to repeat it note for note from that concert. Sacrificed a whole day of studying ( I'm doing my post graduation in anaesthesia) and neglected my wife and son the entire day tying to get it right!
I have put up an acoustic cover of this song. Take a look

livehappy4ever 4 years ago
the song that comes after your time is gonna come is black mountain side, this is white summer and it has black mountain side riffs mixed in it
Explosive184 4 years ago
this isnt the song on LZ1, its on the box set, and its kind of a mixture between Black Mountain Side and White Summer
