I was serving on Ike when then vice president Dan Quayle visited. We were in the Red Sea. She was going so fast(my berthing was E2 Division-port side just ahead of the fantail) vibrations were nearly teeth shattering!
I'll never know how fast the Ike was going on one dependent's cruise, but we were delayed in leaving due to heavy fog..Once we rounded Cape Henry, the skipper rang up balls to the wall to get out to the VACAPES op area..One could watch the wave build up nearly as high as the hangar bay 3 port side door, and it would collapse and rebuild at 5 minute intervals..All ahead flank and then some!
yup.i have to agree...was on the carl vinson....and i seen way bigger rooster from her...great vid thou:)..and they will do much more that 30knots....when we was heading back from hawai...she hit over 40 on the ships tv station that says how fast you are going..escorts had a hell of a time tring to keep up..lol
Not even CLOSE to full power. Just breaking 20 KT in this picture. They all do 30+ as quoted by the Navy. Just finished 3 yrs on GW and there's nothing but white foam behind her for 1/4 mile at full power with a huge wave in the wake
@mike71085: Those were my thoughts, too. I spent over four years on Ike. I've seen her go full power. This wasn't even close. Good video, but definitely just cruising along.

Thanks for the comments, but you guys may be taking the title a little too literal. I guess I can change the name if it will help.

@mike71085 I remember seeing a rooster tail years back on the Vinson from the fantail. I think that must have been full power.
