God , how i love this song ,it soothes - i started to listen to him since i was 12 and he was my first superstar crash !! oh those were the days - i still listen to him with wonder and amazement for churning out good songs till today ! now i want to try to download first episode at hienton(if i got the title right) its from the same album (got it on vinyl)
I have always loved this song as well. Your words about how this song makes you feel are almost as eloquent as the song's lyrics. Bravo. I find it stunning how certain songs are so beautiful and real they are almost to much to bear. This is certainly one of them. Thanks so much for posting!
My one and only complaint about this album is that it's a bit overproduced. Elton played this song in concert later. Just him and the piano. Much better. None of this overload of strings. It's a soft, low key song. It shouldn't be grandiose.
@chapaev36 To each his own; I thought it was perfect. The live version gives you the strength of the song, but waltzing with a woman with a woman with the strings and harp...can you say "action?"
Such a beautiful song! Lyrics are touching. Sometimes we can be guardian angels to each other... Thank you for sharing this lovely video. In general, I really like Elton John's pop music. Especially the album 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' is very beloved for me. ^_^

Beautiful arrangement from Elton John! The strings add authenticity to this gem of a recording!
Bravo, Sir Elton!

Elton was undeniably a Superstar. I often wonder where he would be without Bernie's contribution of lyric.

Sounds like a Beatles rip off. Actually I think George Harrison wrote this.

@bobbyChrismikeLou Really? What song does it sound like. That would be awfully unlike Elton to steal ideas from another artist.

@ajpianoman1 Just the style. "rip off" was too strong a term, forgive me. Call it an homage.

Did you paint your smile on, well I said I knew
That my reason for living was for loving you
We're related in feeling but you're high above
You're pure and you're gentle with the grace of a dove
