well said zayashuku! This was the style in Turkey at the time and you can see many dancers in the 80's and 90's dance in a similar style and similar costumes no different than it is now people have been swamped wit westernised egyptian styles of dancing and costuming and society is lead to believe that is the one and only true oriental dancing, which is ridiculous because of the range and variety of middle eastern countries that all have their own variation!
Nothing wrong with her costume at all as variation in costuming is one of the greatest things about Oriental dance in its many forms. The dance, however, could use a little more variation and classic moves. The dancer should have smiled more and made more eye contact especially with female members of the audience to draw them into the performance. As for the dialog, maybe next time it should be captioned so that we could all understand it.
I think it's nice...I like the dancer she's cute and sexy and dances good...what's all the criticizm why not just enjoy the art, the music and the dance...
Its to naked, for me though, we can get the wrong, picture here, i mean, ideas,, haha.., no really this is all great, il know about the cultures, and some are really alike, only the music and dances are different... but we all want to relax , look at great performing ,woman ..or, dancers....am i right .
Is the outfit skimpy Yes. But has anyone checked out the current trend among Egyptian dancers to wear a mini skirt example: Dina. And yes Turkish is less refined than Egyptian style dance. But so what. Egyptian dance was influenced by Hollywood & ballet including Latin dances like the Samba. But I am sure if you went back before the dance was influenced by the West, it was not so refined either.
Absolutely awesome old school Turkish dancing! Her arm movements are perfect, and her costume is traditional Turkish (see Pinar Elice, among others). For all those people putting her dancing and costume down, just shows how ignorant you truly are of the REAL ethnic origins of belly dance.
@naleyasemele64 The dancer is wearing a Turkish costume, and dancing Turkish style. Maybe if your teacher taught you some things, you'd know this. I hate it more when people only taught in one style of belly dance assumes it's the right one. This style may not be for you, but it's the Turkish culture. Costume looks no different than a Brazilian samba parade costume and that covers WAAAAAY less.
@Zayashuku lol, this is not even called a costume :) and she is dancing on a classical egyptian music and it's definitely not right to dance turkish style to it, sorry!
@halima34 This song is a classic. Just because you dance one style, doesn't mean it should limit your musical choice. Break dancers have danced to classical, and ballerinas have danced to more modern pieces. I'm sure she was trying to break walls down... But didn't succeed.
@Zayashuku this is not a Turkish style costume, she most definitely has been made to wear it by Turkish men who organize this program. Please research for harem costumes, dresses then you will see what is actual Turkish oryantal costume. Anyway, dancers wear what ever they feel comfortable these days.
@dansoz1 I know, they wear whatever, but this video is VERY old. Back then: Wear a costume with no sides to skirt = Turkish cabaret. Historically, Egypt already had ruled out costumes like this. Lebanese wore Egyptian costumes so it can't be them. Turkish wore harem costumes yes with choli tops, but they've also have worn less historically. Just using simple statistics. Sorry to offend :(
How could all Turkish belly dancers kept on wearing thong underwear underneath their belly dancers' skirt during every bellydance show! I mean, c'mon....gimme a break!!
It's a very nice version of the song. She needs a skirt and appropriate moves fir this song. All she was doing it's spinning and trying to cover her ass.
Thanks. She dances pretty well and I prefer the style of 80s and 90s, but many dancers such as Semra Su、Burcin Orhon、Sibel Baris、Leyla adali、Nergis - Their videos could seldom be found on the web.
