People often see the conductor as superfluous during performance, but he / she is the one responsible for the orchestra's performance, even though not largely required during the performance, yes.
This is my favourite Mozart Piano Concerto and the slow movement is one of the most profound he composed. Radu Lupu performs with great insight and depth.
This is the most perfect, wonderful performance of this concerto, on par, if not better than the Kempff's legendary one on DG. Thank you elegant110 for this post.
I wonder what year this concert took place. It must have been prior to '97, when Vegh died, but also because no female musicians played in the Vienna Philharmonic until that year (and from then only sparingly, although it now has a female concertmaster).
Irrespective of this little factoid, it's always good to know in what year a performance took place.
Thank you! My channel is all Sandor Vegh. I have just about all of his CDs so I think I'd be correct to say that this was never released on CD. And yes, I'm going to have to check some of Radu Lupu's other work. I have also have the box set with Andras Schiff.
Finesse and deft touch, well polished interpretation delivered with style. Tremendously enjoyable! I've been playing it nonstop for the past hour or so. Thanks for posting!

This is way better than Bohm, Pollini, and the VPO. Great articulation and excellent dialogue between the piano and orchestra.

Lupu looks a bit like Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks.

yes, vegh is great! I especially enjoy watching him absent-mindely turning two pages at a time instead of one.
