Und auch wenn es wirklich sehr schön gespielt und episch ist... man hört aber dennoch deutlich, das die Wiener den "Walzer" und das "Zärtliche" einfach nicht aus ihren Interpretationen heraus bekommen. Es klingt einfach etwas zu sanftmütig und mir persönlich fehlt es an vielen Stellen an Dynamik&Drama.

Dennoch trotz allem eine wirklich tolle Darbietung.

An awesome performance from perhaps the finest orchestra in Europe ( only equaled by the Royal Concertgebouw and Berlin Phil). It must have sucked having to hear the live music through speakers outside instead of at the Musikverein.

John Williams conducts his own piece with Boston Pops in that video, with the same dynamic levels, but a bit faster, and a very different mindset to the music.. But I must admit that I'm in love with LSO recordig for the movie, combines raw nature with refinement, in almost every aspect of the performance, thanks to the great musicians in the orchestra at that time..

I love the Wiener Philharmoniker's playing of Star Wars. The Brass section is powerful, the sound grand and on par if not rivaling the London Symphony Orchestra's section. One could only wonder what the scores would have sounded like if they had recorded it.

What a brilliantly overdone interpretation! Quite fitting for a galaxy far far away.

Unfortunately the live sound was highly disappointing, quite clear but the PA seemed really too small for the vaste space. Too often wind and the diesel generators were as loud as the music. I left after the Imperial March and watched the rest of the concert on TV with much better sound - but less athmosphere, alas.
