Good fencing, is this Kolobkov the Olimpic champion ?

I always have to smile when I see the fencers jumping like kangaroos! This has absolutely nothing to do with the traditional (sport)fencing!

I'm fencing epee and sabre for more than 15 years now (I'm coach in a big German fencing club) but we always try to keep the "tradition" a little bit alive.

Opinions may be different, but I like more the "aesthetic" style - not the "jump-fencing", even if this might be more "sporty"!

No, I never won any big title or trophy!

But that's not the reason why I'm fencing by the way!

As I told I want to keep the "aesthetic" attributes in fencing a little bit alive. That's it...!

@leuchtfeuer1 All this jumping around looks like a waste of energy. I suppose the idea is to throw off your opponent's timing but most of these guys keep a pretty steady rhythm as the jump around, which defeats the purpose. Or maybe it's just because I'm 39 and can't jump around like that without tiring myself out.

Well if you did fence you'd be able to at any pace you want. So that has nothing to do with why you dont fence

I believe schokoprinz means he fences sabre, in which bouts last few seconds.
