  • Spongemom Pantsuit

    WTF? LOL!

  • I like Jodie but this woman is amazing with her imitations!!

  • A few of the actors in Band Of Brothers were English and they did excellent American accents. I didn't know they were English until I heard them speak in interviews. I'm not an actor but I think it's probably easier to do an American accent than an English one.

  • @tomthefunky They're not. We learn to do English accents right off the bat for certain period pieces for the stages. The American accent is much more blunt, and has about a million different twangs. It is very hard to master without coming across as someone who is trying too hard. Brits still have trouble saying the "r" at the end of certain words. That's not to say that there aren't American actors who do shit English accents though. It's just easier to fake your way through it.

  • Awesome!

  • she's just the best. chapeau bas miss ullman

  • shes pish

  • Are they scared of me @.@?!

  • Funny!!!! the part with her wearing sponge costume she looks so much like Jodie!

  • ha Jodie Foster is a good person to parody because she has such a distinctive voice and she has this image as an intense and serious, private actress. Which this skit is making fun of. She does have a self-deprecating sense of humor though so she'd probably laugh at this.

  • I´m laughing on the floor.

  • Hahaha, she's brilliant!

  • Tracey is actually talented...take notes Sarah Silverman.

  • tracy , veryvery fine, tks from brazil, your fa.,decade 70'

  • She is so fucking hilarious in this one. There is NO way I could interview her without soon being fired.

  • "Even as a sponge you're generating oscar buzz" - Lmao!

This impression is flawless! Love that deep butchy voice she has going that's so typical of Foster.

  • To all the people who don't believe people are born gay just watch Jody Foster as a kid. It was never a surprise. Not bein mean just statin facts.

  • I love Tracey!

  • I have often thought the toughest thing for a British speaker to do is to adapt the American accent that includes pronouncing the final r's in words. Ullman does it flawlessly. Wow. I'm in awe.

  • @restlessr84 I can't tell you how many times British correspondents say things like "Obamer" on the news. They have a real issue with "r's". lmao.

  • @fflybz Indeed. John F. Kennedy (whose New England/boston accent is among the closest in America to the English accent), would say cah for "car" while saying "Cuber" for Cuba.

  • @restlessr84 here in MA we do that a lot. Well, I don't, but my grandparents have a bad eastern MA accent. Like they say kahn for corn or call my aunt Linder instead of Linda.

  • @restlessr84 It would have been closer to an Irish accent, not English.

  • @fflybz But if you're referring to what's known as the "linking r", that's quite a different story.

  • @fflybz zIt's one of the things with English accents that when a word ends with an a it gets an r sound attached to the end. I LOVE learning accents!!!!

  • @restlessr84 Mmm but overall British and Australian actors tend to play more convincing Yanks than Americans play Brits or anyone else with the exception of very talented character actors such as Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep. Brit. actors generally have to adapt if they want to work consistently. Very few get away with doing the same accent in every film and those who do tend not to have much range anyway.

  • @AcousticUplift I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I can always tell when a non-American is putting on a fake American accent. Nearly none of them can do it convincingly. The only two who've been able to get away with it are Tracey, Hugh Laurie, and Toni Collette. That's about it.

  • Well we'll have to agree to disagree although I'm willing to bet non-Americans affecting a US accent do it far better than Americans pretending to be Brits except for the examples I mentioned.

  • @fflybz This is why I like having an aussie accent, we can do american, british and european accents better than americans doing british, european or aussie and same for british doing american or aussie lol

  • @fflybz

Well put........Tracey and Toni are very, very good (I actually give the nod to Toni because Tracey's always have a bit of caricature to them......even in serious performances).

But no British actor has ever created an American character so flawlessly, so interesting and so complex as Hugh Laurie has. How he loses the Emmy year after year after year is positively mindboggling.

    Again, I applaud your choices.

  • @fflybz I agree. Hugh Laurie and Tracey are very convincing at the american accent. Someone who was really bad at it? Joseph Fiennes. I could tell something was off about how he was talking in that show, but soon realized it was his shitty american accent.

  • @fflybz Hugh Laurie and Gary Oldman!

  • @fflybz I think Christian Bale and the actor on The walking dead are very convincing with their accents but once in the Terminator Movie I heard Christian make a slip.

  • @fflybz Thats three people not two, but whatever you say.

  • @fflybz i have to disagree with you. brits are more adept at doing american accents than americans are. the actors you mentioned plus kate winslet, cate blanchett, kate beckinsale, ian mckellan just to name a few.

  • @MsDDiddy I think the reason Brits and Aussies are able to do great American accents is that they've grown up with American movies and TV shows. I'm sure that plays a big part. And the English-speaking film industry is located in America so they have to perfect an American accent in order to widen their roles. Whereas we in America are not as exposed to British/Aussie TV/films and thus the accent.

  • @fflybz have you seen Helena Bonham Carter in Fight Club? I thought she did the American accent flawlessly and convincingly as well.

  • @AcousticUplift Obviously it depends where you're from- someone with an American accent will be more critical of a fake American accent, just as someone with a British accent will be more critical of a fake Brit accent- what mistakes you notice depend on what way of speaking you are most familiar with. I'm used to French Canadian accents and Tracey's Celine Dion sounds way off. This one seems pretty accurate to me.

  • @AcousticUplift oh shut up. Johnny depp and meryl streep are not the only actors with good british accents. And u sound totally biased. Funny how you picked the most overrated actors and said they are convincing. Such a generalized opinion.

  • 1st of all, it was just an opinion and not a personal attack on you so learn some manners. Also on what authority do you call Johnny Depp and Meryl 'overrated'? They are both talented actors worthy of acclaim. Are you? Of course I'm 'biased'. I'm British and in a better position to say who does a convincing UK accent than you, an American. Just as it was pointed out by some1 else, correctly I must add, that I wouldn't be an expert on decent American accents done by non-Yank actors.

  • And yes there are other US actors who do good Brit accents, Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman aren't bad at all for example.

  • @AcousticUplift

They ARE bad examples. Anne Hathaway's British accent in Becoming Jane was terrible, and Portman's in V for Vendetta was equally unconvincing, sorry. Renee Zellweger in BJ was ok.

On the other hand, Hugh Laurie, Hugh Dancy, Kate Winslet, Emily Blunt, Rachel Weisz are Brits with convincing American accents.

  • We'll have to agree to disagree esp if you're not a Brit ergo not an expert. Anne's accent in 'Alice in Wonderland' was decent and I thought Natalie's in '...Vendetta' was fine although I had her turn in 'The Other Boleyn Girl' when I cited that example. I'd agree with you regarding the Brits who do good American accents. I think most do with the exception of Ralph Feinnes and maybe one or two others. However as has been fairly pointed out, as non-Americans we're not best placed to say...

  • @restlessr84 It sounds vaguely American, but it sure does not sound East Texan.

  • @restlessr84 Her accent is obviously fake. She is still great but her accent is not that good.

  • Uuuuh... Great. LOL

  • oh god, holding to someones head or getting raped., or both. hahahahahahaha.

  • Well done! Jodie is usually quite serious in her interviews. The voice is good! Btw now we know who the father is. Lol

  • spot-on

  • thats so funny ! i think she nailed it

  • Unbelievably hilarious! Incredibly real! Great! Leaves you speechless.

  • Its good but she should smile and use a higher voice. Sounds a bit too serious for Jodie

  • @contact1araya

its not nearly as good as jennifer saunders, who was absolutely spot on in the "silence of the lambs" sketch.

  • she can impersonate anybody spot on. she's great

  • LOLZ

  • ;-)

  • Loathe Jodi. Love Tracey.

  • lol

  • It's good to see some see straight through Jodie Foster. I used to think she was really cool and out there, but as time went on it became clear that she's just another player.

  • It may not be perfect, but scroll down and imagine Jodie Foster while listening. It's actually quite good. That "Aaah .. Great." just kills me.

  • No, no no no no no.... This was freaking funny!

    Very good impersonation.

  • whats with the lisp?

The impression is ok but not great

  • She sounds so much like her. Its fucking crazy.

  • "Holding a gun to someone's head or getting raped..Or both!" lol

  • Wow, she imitates her voice and actions well.

  • Uncanny!
