Yes Rowan did/does hold an HGV. just goes to show- as far as wagon driving goes, all human life is here..as a driver myself I work with drivers who are university graduates, plumbers, gas fitters, brickies etc etc. we aren't all fat stupid bastards. (although I am a bit porky, I'll admit)

@mrspivvy Is the Leyland Constructor the one that Atkinson is driving? I was wondering, does that truck have dual-steering axles in the front? The way it's set up it seems like it must. I like older trucks too, both US and UK. To me, European trucks generally look odd, since I live in the US, but the differences between the two are very interesting, as well as trying to decipher why they were designed so differently. A good old US Mack or Kenworth is generally more impressive, to me at least

@justforever96 European trucks are presumably smaller than US ones since the road net and infrastructure is older and was created mainly before the rise of the really big rigs.

Scandinavian trucks can be slightly bigger than the continental ones though. (24m maximum length as opposed to 18m).

@justforever96 hi, yes its a constructor- probably the best 8 legger of the '80s, thanks to its scammell roots. yes, It is a twin steer. 8 wheelers were not generally seen outside of the UK back then, they are a result of our length/weight restrictions. probably grossed around 30 tons.

You don't see many of these Leylands any more, truck design has moved on hugely since then
