You haven't witnessed anything, my dear. You have just seen a well organized propaganda video that was filmed at two different scenes. Yes, the police overreacted in the first one because it was a provocation. A set up organized by a bunch of extremists who previously tried to burn down the building of the national TV and rioted all over the city. They deliberately lead the police into the peacefuly celebrating crowd. It was terrible.
The second part was the termination of an illegal demonstration for a legally banned nationalist /racist troop. The propaganda video was prepared by those who are lead by the lady shown at 4:58. She is the one who is trying to put Hungary as a police-terrorized country. (Sorry, in between there was another demonstration, which was also terminated because of several violations.) The police was criticized by many organs because of inproper actions, but extremists do a lot of damage to our country.
Remind me again about what article 62 of the Hungarian Constitution says, and what Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights says or what Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights defends: the inalienable right to free political assembly.

You might not know, but in a democratic country, there is no "illegal demonstration". A demonstration can only be illegal, if it is violent, f.e if people beat/kill/harm/assault other people. This was clearly not the case.
You might want to read something about the basic human rights and you may find that you have the right to demonstrate against(or for) EVERYTHING you want!!! EVERYTHING!! No matter if that is legal or not, unless you do not harm other people.
I'm not a lawyer. All I know that you have to get permission for a demonstration. Not only in Hungary. Nevertheless, I do not approve of many things police did during the past years. I don't like them either. I'm not happy with them at all! My problem with the video is that it's message is very confusing, trying to put Hungary as a cruelly police-ruled state. But still, edited or not, the things shown in this video DID happen. The people there had a legal ( based on the basic human rights and the Hungarian Constitution) demonstration, which was dissolved illegally by the police. This is the point, and nobody can deny this.

If you demonstrate against, lets say, high taxes, don't you demonstrate against an existing law?! If you demonstrate against a government decision, don't you demonstrate against a law in effect?!
If this demonstration was illegal, then with the same logic we can say that ALL demonstrations who question a government decision are illegal, so this leaves us with almost all demonstration being illegal.

I can't deny (and don't want to) that you are right in many issues. I have my own experiences about demonstrations in western countries. Every state, which has a Police is a police-state in one way or another. Then we have a problem with legalization of demonstrations in Hungary, because police is just an executive organ, especially the poor guys who have to do the dirty job on the video. I also agree with the role of dictatorships, ...not necesarilly communists.
One more thought. The EP is full of similar incidents in Tallin, Paris or Berlin. I don't think this video will make an impact. Let's see. The problem is universal, the way police handled it might provoke some sympathy. I still think, Europe has to deal with much more problematic cases. I don't know. Just an opinion.

You haven't witnessed anything, my dear. You have just seen a well organized propaganda video that was filmed at two different scenes. Yes, the police overreacted in the first one because it was a provocation. A set up organized by a bunch of extremists who previously tried to burn down the building of the national TV and rioted all over the city. They deliberately lead the police into the peacefuly celebrating crowd. It was terrible.

The second part was the termination of an illegal demonstration for a legally banned nationalist /racist troop. The propaganda video was prepared by those who are lead by the lady shown at 4:58. She is the one who is trying to put Hungary as a police-terrorized country. (Sorry, in between there was another demonstration, which was also terminated because of several violations.) The police was criticized by many organs because of inproper actions, but extremists do a lot of damage to our country.

Remind me again about what article 62 of the Hungarian Constitution says, and what Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights says or what Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights defends: the inalienable right to free political assembly.
Now tell me again how the evidence of my own eyes is a cooked up propaganda orchestrated by an internationally respected human rights lawyer; and about an illegal demonstration for a legally banned nationalist/racist troop.

You might not know, but in a democratic country, there is no "illegal demonstration". A demonstration can only be illegal, if it is violent, f.e if people beat/kill/harm/assault other people. This was clearly not the case.
You might want to read something about the basic human rights and you may find that you have the right to demonstrate against(or for) EVERYTHING you want!!! EVERYTHING!! No matter if that is legal or not, unless you do not harm other people.

I'm not a lawyer. All I know that you have to get permission for a demonstration. Not only in Hungary. Nevertheless, I do not approve of many things police did during the past years. I don't like them either. I'm not happy with them at all! My problem with the video is that it's message is very confusing, trying to put Hungary as a cruelly police-ruled state. It doesn't put the events into their contest., doesn't show the other side. Very manipulative. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

You need to get a permission for a demonstration, this is true. But it is not possible to deny the permission just on ideological grounds. But still, edited or not, the things shown in this video DID happen. The people there had a legal ( based on the basic human rights and the Hungarian Constitution) demonstration, which was dissolved illegally by the police. This is the point, and nobody can deny this.
The fact remains, the police DID attack people who were sitting on a the ground. You can't just edit this...
But still, the main point is, you can not dissolve a demonstration just because they protest against a law or decision.

I was there with my spouse and we had lots of fun. We didn't mean to participate in the demonstration, it just happened :o) Civil movements and conscieousness is at different level in western countries. You can not expect the same in Hungary where the ruling forces are the revenge, blind hatred and other primitive instincts. I'm sorry to say this, but see nothing else around myself. I wish, I'd be wrong.

If you demonstrate against, lets say, high taxes, don't you demonstrate against an existing law?! If you demonstrate against a government decision, don't you demonstrate against a law in effect?!
If this demonstration was illegal, then with the same logic we can say that ALL demonstrations who question a government decision are illegal, so this leaves us with almost all demonstration being illegal.
Usually it is communist, totalitarian dictatorships who do not approve demonstrations.

I can't deny (and don't want to) that you are right in many issues. I have my own experiences about demonstrations in western countries. Every state, which has a Police is a police-state in one way or another. Then we have a problem with legalization of demonstrations in Hungary, because police is just an executive organ, especially the poor guys who have to do the dirty job on the video. I also agree with the role of dictatorships, ...not necesarilly communists.

One more thought. The EP is full of similar incidents in Tallin, Paris or Berlin. I don't think this video will make an impact. Let's see. The problem is universal, the way police handled it might provoke some sympathy. I still think, Europe has to deal with much more problematic cases. I don't know. Just an opinion.

Complicated. As you see here the Hungarian Police are not about Law & Order, they are the political enforcers of the post-communist state.
As a result crime in the provinces is an enormous catastrophe. The Hungarian Guard was formed as a civil defence group, to go to areas where crime is rife. But they NEVER carry any weapons and NEVER were conviceted of one crime in their two years of existence.
