Honesly,, my take on it is that the British Prick is judging based off of his own personal preferences in taste - that is not the correct way to judge at all.

iron chef symon is the only one of the judges i actually like, for two reasons:

1. he actually CAN cook, he's not just a critic

and

2. he's not an arrogant condescending prick, even though by #1 he could be.

Am I the only one who sees judge Simon Majumdar as a sour old prune who seems to stake more importance in finding fault than in complimenting great results?

I mean it seems that THE most controversial and meanest old prick on EACH televised talent contest ends up being the pretentious Brit.

Kind of explains why they always give sci-fi alien characters British accents when they speak English onscreen.
