  • George Clinton has been performing for over 50 years and Parliament was formed way before Kiss. Also both bands were on the same record label Casablanca during the 70's as well. They also had the same stage designers for their concerts during that time too. In a way funk is a form of rock music but with r&b and soul infused within it to give a different feel. By the I like both parliament and kiss as well.

  • Love that Funkenstein! Thank you!

  • Hit me in the proton..baby

  • TOO $hort used it too...song was It's Your Life

  • @arleighasdad W.C curb servin' also...imma check out too shorts version...i didnt hear it yet

  • @CRMunir1 KISS started in 1973-present. Hey George got the funk tho!

  • Back in the day, the Mothership would land on the stage, and Dr. Funkenstein would get out his Gangsta Brim, and walking cane. And Parliament would bust out with this song.

Parliament would put on a great show back in the 70s. They were the first group to put showmanship into their shows.

  • We want to get FUNKED UP!!!!

  • Kiss me on my ego baby!! What??? Can not be explained. I'm like McDonald's when it comes to this track, I'm lovin' it.

  • If someone is trying to argue that George Clinton was inspired by KISS in this 76 release, George was freaking out in 70' with "Momma What's a Funkadelic". Their dress continued to get wilder as the "Not of this World" themes for successive albums developed. Even Patti LaBelle and the Blue Bells transformed to "Star Children" in 71 as LaBelle. It was a wild, transitive time and the music was great. KISS' did their thing, but George didn't need to, nor did he, piggy back off of them.

  • Kiss formed in '73. This is still the biz, but credit where it's due.

  • WelAwright - we lov u funk - n - stein!

  • Owww! Get Down! Dr. Funkenstein!!

  • We love to funk you, Funkenstein

  • Ice-T sampled this song to perfection on "Bitches 2".

    Causing a friction fire

    Burnin' you on your neutron

    Causing you to scream

"Hit me in the proton, BABY!" now that what i'm talking about

  • I really hate the times when i see people ganging up on someones comment, i become so curious and then search the entire thread only to find out that the comment has been removed. Damn it!!! i just wanna know what he says!!! LOL :D

  • I started in space doing the Cosmic Slop, until the Mothership landed and had me Tearing the Roof Off the Sucka! Starchild shot me with the Bop Gun while I shined my Flashlight on the devoid of funk who's nose had grown. Bootsy came and Streched me out, while I figured out my Telephone Bill. Then P-Funk took the damn party underwater and showed me I could dance without getting wet! Funkenstein warned of the clones and got the Nation Under A Groove!

  • @MrPrincepop that was just too cool , p.funk lives forever!

  • The bigger the headache, the bigger the pill!!

  • Before De-evolution of music there was P-Funk, now we can only taste the cold dust of the stars...

  • This isn't even my preferred style of music, and I can't stop listening.

  • @CRMunir1

  • Hit me in the proton BABY!

  • I get sooooooo hung up on bones!!! ;-p

  • When it comes to Hip Hop using this for a sample. I think it may be a little more significant that Too Short used this for 'It's Your Life'. Ice T is that dude, but I think more people will hear this in Too Short's album. 'Short Dogg's in the House' (the album) is one of the all time bangers EVER!

  • Clone in da house!

  • Most Dopest Song of P-FUNK!!!!!

  • this was sampled by playa fly, classic funkadelic shit!!

  • hap-P berfday, doctor!

  • ITS ALL THAT,DOCTOR FUNKIN WITH THAT MIND

  • WE LOVE TO FUNK YOU UP!!

  • Good music is good music who cares who dress wild while performing on stage they both kick ass.......

  • "...Swift lippin' , and ego trippin' and body snatchin'.... "

  • Parliament and Kiss were on the same record label Casablanca Records in the early 70s so they would dress wild while performing on stage and this outfit is similiar to the Kiss band members. Both groups provided that good funky sound even though Kiss is a rock band I still dig 'em.

  • Yeah, Parliament was on the scene waaaay before KISS. They began the wild attire around 1970, if not a little earlier.

  • "kiss me on my ego"

    LOL

  • Same time period, really.

  • Parliament started in 1968. Kiss came later. George Clinton has always been extreme and eccentric. Before that they were The Parliaments and did doo wop.

  • Parliament started in 1968. Kiss came later. George Clinton has always been extreme and eccentric.

  • I would've LOOOOVED to shoot Music Videos for the US Funk Mob using todays technology!!! Can you imagine if they were shooting concept videos for their albums??

Maaaaan!!! Spaceships, Crazy Doo-Loop Birds, Giant Flashlights, Bop guns, Silver Galatic Limos, Dr. Funkenstien, Bootsy, Starchild, Sir Nose, The Brides, Diaperman, Big Foot, Boogie, Kidd Funkadelic, Maggot Brain Hazel, Parlet, Horny Horns, Mud Bone Cooper, Roger & Zapp???!!!

Kiss took advantage of their look by being media monsters

  • Kiss me on my ego!!

  • "Hey Man you make me feel so bad"...one of the funkiest song EVER!!!! with Funky Worm (Ohio PLayers). NOTHING BUT THE FUNK!

  • Calvin music

  • "Let me hear it for me!"...lol

  • Microbiologically speaking, when I start churning, burning, and turning, It'll make your atoms move so fast, expanding your molecules, causing a friction fire, burning you on your neutron, causing you to spring hit me in the proton.

  • Parliament and Funkadelic dressed this way in the 1960's when most of their music was a form of rock mixed with a dab of soul. check out some of the music from the album maggot brain and others.

  • if YOU WANT TO GET YOUR HOUSE PARTY ON.STARTED OFF WITH THIS JAM. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED.

  • sounds like the guy that sings Banana zoo

  • Dr. Funkenstiiiien!!!! The disco king with the monster sound. LOL!!

  • so many rappers have sampled nearly any and every thing by George Clinton, I could name ten rappers who have sampled this song alone, that's what makes listening to the original song so much fresher!

  • does anyone know the song that talks about the afronauts and the funk

  • i have to listen to this if im trippin. cause i have soul. greatful dead -phish- dave matthews is green bean bullshit.

  • This group was pre-Kiss as they recorded as Funkadelic doing what they called Acid-Funk in the early 70's. Check out Maggot Brain on Westbound records

  • This group was pre-Kiss as they recorded as Funkadelic doing what they called Acid-Funk in the early 70's

  • WHO in the HELL are the four people who disliked this? Must be descendants of Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk

    Waldstiem

  • believe me they were BEFORE kiss

  • one of my fav basslines...We love you Dr Funkenstein your funk is the best!!!!

  • i hate it when rappers take sweet riffs and grooves and shit and uses them in there rap and make thousands of dollars goddammit

  • @PR122094 Why? they keep the funk alive!! If it wasn't for hip hop a lot of people would not listen to the old funk, soul and jazz.......

  • @PR122094 And I know George Clinton doesn't mind, He collaborated with a lot of rappers that sampled him

  • damn the memories. i'm old. Real music. not all of the fake crap we get these days.

  • "Er, micro-biologically speaking..."

Only a band as awesome as Parliament can start a verse like that! :D Had this album on vinyl as a teenager and loved it - still do! Truly "ego-tripping" stuff.

  • Oh Man, who cares about Kiss??? I mean they were ok and all that, but THIS stuff is the bomb!

Kiss never did a song that makes me wanna move like this song does.

  • Well, Funkadelic came out in 76, but Parliament came out in 1970. The first album in Osmium, which oddly enough is a country album. They dressed like funky indians in space, so I'd say they had the idea from jump street, or at least georges high ass did.

  • @wanawa87 FUNKADELIC WAS ALWAYS A GROUP. IT WAS A TAKE OF THE WORD PSYCHADELIC. THEY WHERE FUNKADELIC IN THE LATE 60'S

  • @everyone simmer down bands where doing the crazy space glam thing since 73

  • why do white people have to always bring up white groups fuck kiss this was shit

  • they dressed like this before kiss george said himself kiss shoppwed in the same store neil bogart signed parliament before kiss anyway then donna summer. it was a friendly rivalry george said he wore gene simmons boots and gene wore his boots. kiss did try to hire pedro bell to do some artwork for them but george phukked that deal up.

  • King of tha funk!!! haha

  • Comment removed

  • dr funkmaster!!! thanx doggg

  • Ed O.G. & Da Bulldogs - Dedicated to the Right Wingers.

  • this shit right here reminds me of Compton High days when my dude would pick me up early in the morning bangin' this and we'd be dippin' in the low rida' hittin' three wheel motion on Compton Blvd. and Wilmington.....'86 was the year.

    thank you!

  • Funk upon a time, baby bubby!!!!

  • A true classic for the real funk-a-teers

  • remember kiss & the parliament we're label mates!!

  • they where dress crazy long before kiss came out

  • Happy New Year !!

  • did this group dress like this before or after the rock group kiss?

  • good question... this came out in 1976, and kiss was active before then so my guess is they dressed after kiss

  • Funkadelic (Westbound Records, 1970) the first record, sound, and look for Parliment. The self-titled debut album, Kiss, was released on February 18, 1974.

  • @sodr2 ah yes but didnt kiss dress differently to start with?

  • @sodr2 George Clinton formed the group in the mid 1950s and kiss came after then

  • @sodr2 i thought Funkadelic nem was dressing like these and so, back in the late 60's?

  • @sodr2 Sorry to have to correct you but Parliament Funkadelic was doing this since 1967. As a matter of fact, Parliament had the original Starchild, not Kiss.

  • @sodr2 Before KISS!! They were dressin like this before 1973.

  • @sodr2 At the very least, around the same time.

  • @sodr2 this wasnt when they started dressing weird tho u can see videos of them in 1969. it was a little less glam but still outlandish

  • @sodr2 They dressed like this before KISS. George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic was all together formed in 1968, five years before kiss. But interesting point

  • @sodr2 Parliament is actually 5 years older than KISS.. though I couldn't tell you when they started dressing like this. Who cares though because this shit is FUNKY.

  • @sodr2 Funkadelic started in 1970 and started dressing outrageously pretty soon after.

  • @davidgoodlettmusic

They are black stoners. Hippies. Weed, acid, mushrooms, etc.

  • @sodr2 they're not dressing like kiss

this is what they look like when not disguided as humans

  • @sodr2 Since their first album was 1973

  • @n64wilbert .......There first album was long before 1973!

  • @n64wilbert , Whose first album was in 1973, surely you don't mean Parliament?

  • @Impex7 Kiss

  • They were before KISS

  • @PantheraAtrox actually they were not. Kiss came out in 1972,-73 and were dressing like that.

  • @diamonddust22 , wrong....( Snip) (Taken from Wikipedia.)

The Parliaments did not meet with great success at this time, recording only a handful of singles for the relatively minor label Revilot Records. These included a hard-won hit in 1967 with "(I Wanna) Testify/I Can Feel The Ice Melting", but the band struggled to achieve recognition..

  • @PantheraAtrox doesnt matter they didn't have the costumes til after kiss did.

  • @diamonddust22 , on the 1970 Parliament, album, "Osmium" they were still in costumes which was before 1972.

  • @PantheraAtrox say what you like, you're wrong

  • @diamonddust22 , both bands were original in different ways. Regarding who wore the first wild costumes? Take that up with the ancients like the stone Age artists.

Have to wonder, did they meet up with the ancient PFunk landing the Mothership Connection? XD

  • Parliament was actually signed to Casablanca before Kiss & as far as the dress they were freaky as far back as "70".

  • Funkadelic (Westbound Records, 1970) the first record, sound, and look for Parliment. The self-titled debut album, Kiss, was released on February 18, 1974.

  • @brownmachine6969 On Unsung (TVOne), it showed where they began dressing like this in the early 1970s.

  • @brownmachine6969 They've been dressing like this back in the 60s as well. GC was far ahead of his time, your time and my time. <3

  • @brownmachine6969 And you obviously have a great sense for patterns because they were label-mates and had the same leather taylor. I even read somewhere where they sometimes borrowed each other clothes

  • @brownmachine6969

This is where Kiss, The Tubes and Elton John learned to Mack. Fact. The Parliaments sang doo wop in the 50's and in the 60's they "turned on" and got extremely funky largely because of Funk Lord Sly and his Family Stone but Parliament created rock theater. Louis Jordan created rock and roll.

  • @brownmachine6969 - these guys dressed like this in the late 60s....

  • @brownmachine6969 also, way before kiss and a bit before parliament there was a brazilian band (1971) called "secos e molhados" with similar costumes. theyre also great, check'em out at: youtube.com/watch?v=uBdg4SnOzm8

  • @brownmachine6969

Kiss had their first performance in 1973, Parliament had already cut their record by then (1970) and were already on tour with it so my guess is before Kiss

  • ...this song makes u wanna pimp walk...

  • ...sounds like bootsy on drumz 2 me...1 thingz 4 sho', it aint jerome... he had mo'funk and sophitication...

  • funkin fantastic..."whoa" his voice is sexy as hell!

  • 8biminiroad ........You are absolutely right, Jerome Brailey (BigFoot) did not play on the recorded version of this tune. I had a scientist do a sound DNA and the analytic analogy results came back placing another drummer on this recording. If you said it was Cordell Mosson (Boogie) , I can relate to that .....Thanks for the correction

    Peace

  • Jerome E. Brailey (BigFoot) on Drums delivering a instrumental lyricism rhythmic sound to your ear hole........

    Funk No Question

  • Although J. Romeo is all over this album, Cordell Boogie Mosson actually plays drums on this track.

  • Thanks for the correction

    Peace

  • Microbiologically speaking, When I start churnin', burnin' and turnin' I'll make your atoms move so fast Expandin' your molecules Causing a friction fire Burnin' you on your neutron Causing you to scream "Hit me in the proton, BABY!" (I don't know what I'm talking about) Ohhhh, over! (Hey man, you make me feel so bad)(Bootsy said) We love to funk you, Funkenstein Thanks for posting it. Peace from Chile, SouthAmerica.
  • Phoneke, you are right there with me. I see it too.

  • Speaking of funk pictures, there was a crow on the back of the album. The voice that laughs and says "Dr. Funkenstein, king of the funk, yeah" reminds me of a talking crow/man in that junkyard.

That's one of the reasons why I believe Clinton has wings on the cover. Kind of like a monster clone created with the crow/man dna.

  • <<< sticking Tongue out at ya'll

  • Every one that Commented Before me...

    FUNK U!!

When I start churnin', burnin' and turnin'

I'll make your atoms move so fast

    Expandin' your molecules

    Causing a friction fire

    Burnin' you on your neutron

    Causing you to scream

"Hit me in the proton, BABY!"

  • Kiss me on my Ego 8)

  • That horn drag is felt deep in my funk bone. The horns really do it in this song . It gives it a kinda sanford and son junkyard funk feel....ya dig!

  • Love how you explained it, how you painted the picture, the landscape. It really does have a surreal urban funk junkyard feel.

  • Microbiologically Speakin'!

  • We love to funk you Funkenstein!

  • So much for Engolstad. This is something Victor would of been proud of.I love this album its one of the best!
