Shoba we miss you a lot, Rest in peace, and come back to see us , we are your real lovers waiting for you to come . I love you, I love you, I love you,
The reason for her murder it is said that the person believed to be killed her was jealous of her great success whereever she went she was adored by the public and this caused frequent quarrels between them and resulted in her death. We really miss u.
Shobha did not commit suicide and it is widely bellieved that she was killed. She is a malayali actress from Kerala and it is said that since the person behind her death had strong connections in the political and cine field he managed to escape from justice and is still roaming free.Hats off to Indian justice system.
I wonder how ignorant these people are. She was killed and later hanged. The man whom she loved a lot (B......u M......a) was the culprit. There were a lot of manipulations at that time to make this case unheard of. Thanks to the police and judiciary. The justice died. The culprit is roaming around as genuine human. By then there was no one to talk for her. Everything was hidden. The answer for her death by then was ''''the viscera has been send for analysis''. But the reports never came up.
@nastykurtbadboy .Shoba was such an amazing actress.she even won a national award i guess.Brilliant actress competing Saritha in 80's.my friend named murali in malaysia is a very big fan of her.whatever it is she is gem of an actress tamil field possessed.it was balu mahendra who brought out the talents of shoba.hats off.
maha(shobha)i miss u a million..............sometimes god becomes very cruel....balu sir i hav a question 4 u...may i?it may be any reason..... hw u lost shobha in ur life she is an angel.....really u r a unlucky person...
only actress after the great "Savithri" to xpose her mind instead of body...I verymuch like the "girl next door" image, which I never find among todays's gals
16th of September 1980 her death, she was stated be having affair with Balu Mahendra, the ace cinematographer. She's 'THE' best actress of South Indian Cinema. Although, she was lacking in beauty, her acting was not.
I still recall that evening as Maalai Murasu carried the news "Urvasi Shoba Thideer MaraNam" and I can't ever forget the overwhelming sadness that pervaded the city - atleast where I lived in Royapettah - on that day. Whoever you saw spoke about only this poignantly. I still recall the teary eyes of my Mom! Thinking about this I feel the same way now...it was May 1 - not sure if it was 1980 or 1981.
once we see her great performances with this video we realize what a horrible and violent her death was. just heart-breakingly sad. amazing video, slick editing, so cinematically real.
She went on to act in few more Malayalam movies as a child artiste, before making her debut in an adult role in Balachandra Menon's 'utradaraatri' (1978/Nangaserry Films). In a brief period (1978-1980), Shobha made a fetching mark in all the four southern languages, covering herself with glory by winning the coveted 'urvashi' award when she was just 19 years old. Shobha was a natural performer and essayed her roles with realistic simplicity.
Noteworthy among her Tamil movies as a child artiste was Chandrababu's 'thattungaL thirakkappadum' (1966/Vishwabharathi) wherein Baby Mahalakshmi's performance as the child Lakshmi won widespread praise, perhaps an initial indication of the greater laurels to come. And in Malayalam, Mahalakshmi, renamed as Baby Shobha stole the show in 'udyOgasta' (1967/Geetanjali) amidst the presence of veterans like Satyan, Prem Nazeer, Madhu, Sharada and Sukumari.
Prema had acted in few Malayalam movies in the 60s, but could never make it to the top league. Her own failures had made Prema determined to make her daughter Mahalakshmi succeed where she had failed. Mahalakshmi went to work early; she acted as a child artiste in a few Malayalam and Tamil movies.
The story of Shobha (1961-1980) is a saga of astounding professional success overshadowed by overwhelming personal insecurity and anguish. Shobha, whose real name was Mahalakshmi, was the daughter of actress Prema.
Shobha is a great actress..She won the Best actress award for her role in Pasi. Her mother ( who is also an actress) broke down on stage while accepting the award on her behalf. She is a natural born actress - May her soul rest in peace.
Shoba we miss you a lot, Rest in peace, and come back to see us , we are your real lovers waiting for you to come . I love you, I love you, I love you,
