@dyllys9 I'm not going to say you're dumb, just that that was a very dumb comment :p Chameleons don't change color to blend in with their environment. They do so to communicate and, if you would pay attention to the uploader comments, you'd see that this one was getting territorial after seeing a rival male.

Is the shape of the chameleon related to it's color change? At first it's all skinny and and when the color change takes effect, it's all bloated. Do all chameleons do that during color change?

@rudy4pl Not always. The chameleon in this video was reacting to seeing a rival male (off camera) he ws puffing up and trying to make himself look big and impressive to scare off the other male. If he would have seen a female he would not have puffed up and just turned colorful.

changing color to blend it with it's surroundings kinda fails when it become BRIGHT RED against green =/ Not very effective. But very pretty none the less

@1575windwolf LOL yes that is true. But actually Chameleons don't change colors to match their environment (that only happens in cartoons) A Chameleon will change color based on mood or tempature. They will change color to impress females or to try to intimidate another male. Also if a chameleon is cold or unhappy he will be dark brown. The cham in this video was neutral coloration in the beginning then 'fired up' because he was shown another male off camera.
