yes finally some fucker knows wut hes talking about there all fkn rednecks who make fun of boxing and think wretleing on the ground is cool finally somone fkn knows
MMA is actually not as competitive as boxing if you see people who are 5-0 then they become champions. Or Brock lesnar who is 2-1 and heavyweight ufc champ. I wouldn't call em world champ cuz to me it doesn't seem like they compete against the world they only compete within their organization. And because MMA gyms are expensive youl never see rags to riches happen in that sport, as pacquiao did who was dirt poor in a third world country and now making millions.
why would he go to a sport that pays its top fighters at most $500,000 when he made at least $11 mill in his last fight and at least $2 mill in his smaller fights. Plus the philippines don't care about mma and neither does the UK and former Soviet countries, latin america and most of the world who pay to watch championship boxing.
That's because boxing is a much more respectful art form.
MMA has taken fighting dirty and added some rules to it. If MMA is what it claims to be a real fight then it should have no rules and allow multiple people to fight. How god would a grappler go in a two on one to three on one situation?
If it was as easy as simply learning some take down defense there would be more professional boxers making the transition to MMA.
To pick up enough wrestling skills to be competent at the UFC's level of fighting would take years. But even if you were to develop good TDD and wrestling, eventually you will be taken down, in which event you'll need some damn good Brazilian Jiu Jitsu if you want a chance at surviving. BJJ takes much longer to pick up than wrestling does.
I love MMA and respect it for what it is. With that said I still don't think it lives up to the hype. The old ufc was the best where there were no rules and martial artists came to prove themselves and their art. If boxing ever gets a unified heavyweight champ, boxing will rule once again. This is particularly true if he is American. Mayweather will bust up Manny and school him. The De La Hoya Mayweather fight was a joke and Oscar should not have gotten a SD.
I love the sweet science myself. But I admit there are many problems with it. However, MMA is very overrated. I admit that the fighters are great athletes and work extremely hard. My main problem with MMA is the fact that 9 out of 10 fights end up being on the ground and in guard. I know its part of the game but it is very boring. Not to mention that with those 5 oz gloves anyone can be kod. The fact of the matter is that boxing is still more respected and a bigger draw than MMA.
MMA is also boring when it comes to the ground. But its cool because you always assured to see a knockout. But I still love to see a 12 round of exciting boxing. I totally disagree that an average MMA fighter can easily defeat great boxers like mayweather and pacman. If they learn some takedown defense and wrestling they will be like 10x the skill of chuck lidell
You still need to train a bit of Judo to prevent trips and throws. And even a world class boxer is going to have troubles striking if they face a very technical kick boxer or muay thai fighter when they've never trained for kicks, elbows, the clinch game, and knees.
You can't survive in MMA anymore as a one-dimensional fighter. A few years ago, sure, but not anymore when the level of competition has become so impressive.
mma and boxin they r two diffrent things how can u compare em and also boxi9ng brings in like 17m per fight mma does 200k for there last big one but like i said like oranges and apples
fuck you and your comment your wetback...you dont know nothing about boxing.pacquiao is the real deal...if ever gayweather wants to fight pacquiao, hell be luck if he survive 12 rounds..pacquiao well kill that motherfucker.you beanners dont know how to accept defeat. always makes stupid scuses...you guys are disgrease to boxing.....fuck all ya all...........pacman rules bitch..
First off learn to spell but that aside DLH is the only MAJOR disgrace to boxing who is of mexican heritage hell my mexican freinds no longer respect him and see him as a sell out. If you want to see a real warrior just do some research on julio cesar chavez his record will back up me calling him a warrior.
don't 4get back in 97... the prince came over here and took on the 28-0 Kevin Kelley which was the American contender @ that weight at the time.... and Naseem just took him out... and i remember hearing George Foreman saying "THE PRINCE IS FOR REAL!" which stapled the prince's credibility in the states
True but dlh is old. Boxing old i mean. Pacman might have to beat hatton first but hatton isn't no push over. Floyd dam near beat everybody and i think would beat pacmans ass. If the dlh who beat juilo cesar chavez fought pacman, dlh woulda won.
Maybe but they would have to fight before we know if that would happen. Even though tyson lost some fights and retierd, all tyson did was come foward knock people out, and is in the record books. The match i wanna see is floyd mayweather and manny if manny can beat hatton
I hope Floyd and Manny get it on,that would be a great fight for boxing fans. I think the problem with Oscar was his weight but Manny was awesome on the day too.
So what your saying dood is UFC lacks the DRAMA of BOXING and WWE. I completely agree with you. I used to watch wrestling when it was the ROCK, TRIPLE H and BIG BAD 3:16. WWE sucks now but I would still watch it over UFC.
Anyways I like your explanation on the Pacquiao/Dela Hoya thing. MMA fans just 2letyou know Pacquiao is theREAL DEAL. He is a combination of BRUCE LEE and MIKE TYSON all rapped into one. He also has HAMED's punching power.Too bad Hamed coouldn't be Pacquio's step child
Your channel is good. I think that if you would do more MMA and Boxing blogging as much as you do Wrestling you would get a huge huge following. Thanks for your channel.
Tslay first of all nice video, but with all due respect alot of people felt Manny should have been P4P#1 even when floyd was fighting, because floyd ducks the real tough oppenants. Pacquiao KO's legends and hall of famers. Hatton,Baldimere,Old Oscar,Gatti, and Sharmba Mitchell are not legends
The only guys I have ever seen Floyd "Duck" would be guys that would out weight him 20lbs on fight night. Also by the time Floyd go to middleweight he really only needed to fight superfights which was never a big list to start with.
MMA is a white sport. Mostly white people watch it. They are suburb white people who fight in MMA. Boxers come from poverty and struggle. MMA fighters have both parents, grew up in a nice home, and never dealt with adversity. MMA is just a curiosity and will eventually die. Boxing has mystique. The mafia was involved with it since the 20's. The Mafia probably looks at MMA like a joke
"Years ago we hardly had anything to eat. Now I earn more money and I see every opponent as a man ... That man has to be eliminated" - Fedor Emelianenko
Just so you know there have been rumors for EVER that the mofia has ties with the UFC. The Russian Mafia is said to have there hands in M-1 and we all know what happend to PRIDE becouse they where associated with the Yukuza.
Ya UFC is owned by Zuffa LLC, The Fertitta bros. also own Station Casinos. They are italian-american and they run a casino LOL. Also last year they bought PRIDE cause Dream Stage Entertainment(The group behind PRIDE) couldn't get a new tv contract cause of their relations with the yakuza (who were one of the financial backers of PRIDE). R.I.P PRIDE :'(
I agree with you. It is mostly Rich suburban white kids ala "Never Back Down" i think mainly because MMA gyms are expensive to train from than a boxing gym which could charge as low as free, because some are subsidized by the government as after school programs.
Um everyone always knew that Hatton out side of the UK would be reffed diffrent. Blame that on the UK refs who let hatton get away with to much stuff.
i don't see the refs being pety when it is two americans just when they are in vegas and it's hatton or lennox lewis and they are muscleing the other fighter. i think british fans are brought up wanting to see a real fight not loads of safety rules. im not trying to start a uk v us debate just saying that is what bugs british fans.
If Pacquiao gets by Hatton then him and Mayweather makes sense. I'm going to make this statement and I know people will disagree but Mayweather vs. Calzaghe needs to happen. Mayweather can go up that 12-15 pds while he's in retirement and then you got a HUGE superfight.
The reason why Dana White won't add all the bells and whistles is because Dana is under the misconception that if he adds that stuff it takes the credibility of the product away and he fought to hard to get that he doesn't want to lose it.
You're a TSlay fanboy who's loyal to the end and I can respect that however, as a subscriber to his videos...I have waited a long time for his videos only to find out that they end up sucking. Surely you can sympathize with me
Not his fault of you being closed minded, TSlay always said he was a fan of Pro Wrestling, Boxing and MMA. Read the title if it's not of your interest then don't watch it simple as that. No need to bring bitterness here. Empathy.
Its not hard to not click the mouse. I am not a fanboy just like watching his view on certain subjects. And I dont sympathize with you because I really can care less if you like his videos or not
De La Hoya pretty much got me into boxing, I always thought "old school" Mexicans would hate him because De La Hoya's "Golden Boy" status was figuritive and literal. It was almost sad and good to see De La Hoya get beat - Sad because De La Hoya is clearly not the guy who used to be and happy because it introduced me to Pacquiao on a mainstream level.
I agree, for the first time in a long time I want to see a boxing match - Mayweather vs Pacquiao = Success!
those who didn't believe that pacquiao can defeat dela hoya often pointed out that dela hoya is taller (5'11") than pacquiao (5'6") and the former had a longer arm reach. they would also point out that dela hoya is an established name and he's a legend and he's The Golden Boy.
nobody believed too that pacquiao didn't have punching bags but he's powerful enough to handle tree trunks as punching bag substitutes (yeah, i know, it's an urban legend here but somewhat believable)
it was published on the local papers that when dela hoya went against mayweather, he hired the training services of freddie roach (the guy responsible for training pacquiao and mike tyson before). when dela hoya lost, he put the blame on roach for misleading him. roach's simple reply is "you just don't have it anymore".
pacquiao did a great job of proving everybody wrong by manhandling dela hoya the way no one ever did. the last time dela hoya got it bad was agaisnt bernard hopkins.
No idea that is why I said I would like to se De la Hoya fight one more time just to get a better idea of what we saw. We will not get that of course. I am sure some of it was that Pacquia may have been faster at that weight and he he still had some power mayweather is not really known for his power.
I like how you said that MMA is "hot" right now. I understand that it is a hot trend right now, but it will eventually cool off and not be as big as it is today. Just look at the Attitude Era in Pro-Wrestling. Back then it was acceptable to be a wrestling fan. Now it is back to being a niche entertainment product and looked down upon in mainstream culture.
I was comparing to other combat sports. Of course they are not ALL top notch well rounded fighters but unlike boxers they have an idea of others aspects of fighting, they may not be great in other areas but they have an idea. For example Mark Hunt is a striker from K-1 and almost kimura'd Fedor and Shinya is maybe one of the best LW grapplers but of course he trains striking cause he compites in MMA.
Good topic. MMA/UFC..is on the rise for being the most watched over>>> boxing IMO,compared to the way boxing is.. for it not being as huge as it once was on ppv's. You and i both know that boxing use to be the most anticipated sport. Back when we had Hagler, Hearns,Leonard,Duran...plus Heavy Weights Tyson,Spinks, the list goes on. To sum this up,boxing is still unique, but the golden age has gone for now.
But MMA can sometimes can be a borefest. Some causal MMA fans or most just like seeing raw action, not the technical stuff. MMA is a mixture of many fighting styles, Boxing is one aspect of fighting.
Thanks, but dont get me wrong, im still more of a pure boxing fan than MMA/UFC though. To give a better understaning, i was leaning towards the UFC (ppv's) being most watched in this day and age compared to (pure)boxing, then again it depends on who is on the card also.
Umm" correction, i could careless about what the sport is called, you still have UFC on spike,if thats the case.. why not change the title to MMA in stead..if its a so called (monopolic) wich i never heard of btw define that for me if you will ?
Monopilic lmfao i never saw that one my self i do see your point on the pro boxing ppv's compared to UFC not much anticipated like it once was good point.
u dont know shit from a jack ass who is uneducating bullshit to every body here on youtube dumb fuck MMA is part of UFC stand alone, but mix martial arts is the style from its on.
It depends though. You have to probably need to do a re-match with Oscar and Mayweather in order to lead up to that fight. Also the problem this is the featherweight division no? (Unless I'm wrong), UFC's heavyweight division is just more stacked and more known that's Boxing Heavyweight division.
Prince Naseem was always a nothing fighter he had hand picked opponents his entire career and was protected until he fought an anyway decent fighter(Barrera) he was out classed he was a joke and if any body rates him as a fighter they buy into hype and have not much knowledge about boxing . .. . .
Yes, that's why I consider PRIDE as the best fighting promotion ever. It was like Pro Wrestling and Boxing melted together with real all rounded fighters.
With fighters like Pacquiao Boxing is FAR from dead. Also Boxing has a long history as a professional sport so it's more mainstream. MMA in the other hand is a young pro sport and it's growing fast but most of the people do not really know about it's tactics, they only know what a K.O. is and that's what they want to see which is wrong.
Its already over taken boxing. With the exception of the "Superfights" MMA kills Boxing in PPV buys. The reason why Fedor/Crocop is still seen like that is do to PRIDE and K-1 Knowing how to promote DUE to pro wrestling.
MMA is 98% hugging/spooning and 2% fighting? There is a saying which gets to the heart of Judo: Ju yoku go o seisu (Softness overcomes hardness) add this to the other forms and aspects of fighting of various martial arts (including Boxing) in a fighter and that will open a lot of doors and possibilities. And UFC is just an organization not a sport. For many MMA may be boring cause they are closed minded people that the only thing they know about fighting is punching. No PRIDE. No life.
well to stand up a bit for MMA in all honesty 1 thing they have over Boxing is the ability to get the whole audience to care or some what care about every fight on the card with hype videos promos ect that is something that i wish Boxing would try to do as the undercard on the De La Hoya vs Pacquiao fight had some talented fighters who need to be hyped up more but nobody at the MGM Grand saw it becasue they didnt care.If Boxing could get that they would be in a much better state than now
Like I said I didn't see the undercard so I didn't knwo what happened and didn't happen but yes MMA puts on a better product top to bottom just Boxing does a better job with the EVENT part of it.
in a way that is true i fell MMA can do the same with there SUPERFIGHTS just look at Liddell vs Ortiz Liddell vs Couture Shamrock vs Oritz Wandy vs Jackson i mean Couture vs Lesnar had that BIG FIGHT FEEL which is very hard to capture in todays day in age but Boxing does do a better job with making there fights SEEM IMPORTANT which is the name of the game in Combat Sports
Minotauro vs Mir is gonna be exciting cause both have BJJ backround maybe the best in the HW division and the winner of that bout will be the interim champ that is gonna face Lesnar for the undisputed UFC HW belt.
The other one is a TUF (The Ultimate Fighter reality tv show) bout for the LHW belt both fighters were winners of their respective season of the series. Forrest is the current LHW champ (I still think Rampage was robbed) and Rashad is undefeated and got this title shot after KOing Chuck Liddell.

And because MMA gyms are expensive youl never see rags to riches happen in that sport, as pacquiao did who was dirt poor in a third world country and now making millions.
combuzz 3 years ago
why would he go to a sport that pays its top fighters at most $500,000 when he made at least $11 mill in his last fight and at least $2 mill in his smaller fights. Plus the philippines don't care about mma and neither does the UK and former Soviet countries, latin america and most of the world who pay to watch championship boxing.
combuzz 3 years ago 2
That's because boxing is a much more respectful art form.
MMA has taken fighting dirty and added some rules to it. If MMA is what it claims to be a real fight then it should have no rules and allow multiple people to fight. How god would a grappler go in a two on one to three on one situation?
gojustyle 3 years ago
If it was as easy as simply learning some take down defense there would be more professional boxers making the transition to MMA.
To pick up enough wrestling skills to be competent at the UFC's level of fighting would take years. But even if you were to develop good TDD and wrestling, eventually you will be taken down, in which event you'll need some damn good Brazilian Jiu Jitsu if you want a chance at surviving. BJJ takes much longer to pick up than wrestling does.
Robopencil 3 years ago
I love MMA and respect it for what it is. With that said I still don't think it lives up to the hype. The old ufc was the best where there were no rules and martial artists came to prove themselves and their art. If boxing ever gets a unified heavyweight champ, boxing will rule once again. This is particularly true if he is American. Mayweather will bust up Manny and school him. The De La Hoya Mayweather fight was a joke and Oscar should not have gotten a SD.
Johnnyawesome24 3 years ago
I love the sweet science myself. But I admit there are many problems with it. However, MMA is very overrated. I admit that the fighters are great athletes and work extremely hard. My main problem with MMA is the fact that 9 out of 10 fights end up being on the ground and in guard. I know its part of the game but it is very boring. Not to mention that with those 5 oz gloves anyone can be kod. The fact of the matter is that boxing is still more respected and a bigger draw than MMA.
Johnnyawesome24 3 years ago
Used to love MMA but switched to boxing.
12punches 3 years ago 2
MMA is also boring when it comes to the ground. But its cool because you always assured to see a knockout. But I still love to see a 12 round of exciting boxing. I totally disagree that an average MMA fighter can easily defeat great boxers like mayweather and pacman. If they learn some takedown defense and wrestling they will be like 10x the skill of chuck lidell
yasserbit 3 years ago
You still need to train a bit of Judo to prevent trips and throws. And even a world class boxer is going to have troubles striking if they face a very technical kick boxer or muay thai fighter when they've never trained for kicks, elbows, the clinch game, and knees.
You can't survive in MMA anymore as a one-dimensional fighter. A few years ago, sure, but not anymore when the level of competition has become so impressive.

Bozzza69, boxing had 2008's number #1 PPV in North America at 1,250,000 purchases. UFC 91 had the second biggest at 1,010,000.
The thing is, for the last 3 years in a row the UFC has had 7 of the top 10 biggest PPV spots, and boxing has only had 1. (Wrestling having 2)
So while boxing occasionally rakes in the big numbers, the UFC is putting on more events that continually sell for large numbers.
Short and simple, the UFC is selling more pay-per-views annually than boxing can manage.

The ref was protecting mayweather from the first second in that hatton fight, one rule for hatton one for the american, just like 99

Um everyone always knew that Hatton out side of the UK would be reffed diffrent. Blame that on the UK refs who let hatton get away with to much stuff.
TSlay1974 3 years ago
i don't see the refs being pety when it is two americans just when they are in vegas and it's hatton or lennox lewis and they are muscleing the other fighter. i think british fans are brought up wanting to see a real fight not loads of safety rules. im not trying to start a uk v us debate just saying that is what bugs british fans.

Bongoinc 3 years ago
those who didn't believe that pacquiao can defeat dela hoya often pointed out that dela hoya is taller (5'11") than pacquiao (5'6") and the former had a longer arm reach. they would also point out that dela hoya is an established name and he's a legend and he's The Golden Boy.
nobody believed too that pacquiao didn't have punching bags but he's powerful enough to handle tree trunks as punching bag substitutes (yeah, i know, it's an urban legend here but somewhat believable)
kapengmabula 3 years ago
it was published on the local papers that when dela hoya went against mayweather, he hired the training services of freddie roach (the guy responsible for training pacquiao and mike tyson before). when dela hoya lost, he put the blame on roach for misleading him. roach's simple reply is "you just don't have it anymore".
pacquiao did a great job of proving everybody wrong by manhandling dela hoya the way no one ever did. the last time dela hoya got it bad was agaisnt bernard hopkins.

Xnake 3 years ago
Well if that is the case there are few well rounded fighters. But I see what you are saying.

Xnake 3 years ago
To bad the folks at UFC don't understand that. They think both PRIDE shows in the US where falures
TSlay1974 3 years ago
With fighters like Pacquiao Boxing is FAR from dead. Also Boxing has a long history as a professional sport so it's more mainstream. MMA in the other hand is a young pro sport and it's growing fast but most of the people do not really know about it's tactics, they only know what a K.O. is and that's what they want to see which is wrong.
Xnake 3 years ago 2

No PRIDE. No life.
Xnake 3 years ago
well to stand up a bit for MMA in all honesty 1 thing they have over Boxing is the ability to get the whole audience to care or some what care about every fight on the card with hype videos promos ect that is something that i wish Boxing would try to do as the undercard on the De La Hoya vs Pacquiao fight had some talented fighters who need to be hyped up more but nobody at the MGM Grand saw it becasue they didnt care.If Boxing could get that they would be in a much better state than now
