Throught his talk Mehdi hassan saab kept expressing his love n respect for Indian artists. and how much reputation Khan saab has got in India- i need not say; Presence of Lataji n Naushaad saab itself tells it! I ahve no music knowledge but appreciate music. Mehedi Hassan can sing all the song Mohammed rafi has sung. Mohammed Rafi could not have sunf any gazals Mehedi Hassan has sung. Why we get emotional and lose logic. Think from your brain rather than heart. Appreciate good music and enjoy with open mind.

@versatilias ... Take it easy, actually you are just comparing two different kind of singers. Mehdi Hassan is the king of ghazals and Mohammad Rafi (whom you are calling Rafi) was the king of playback singing. The music and ghazal lovers of this world all know this king of ghazals.

Finally the last words for you are that if you close your eyes infornt of the Sun, the sun still keep on shining.

Keep loving the music, the music of subcontinent, which we all love and listen.

rashed,chicago.Iam a fan of both mehdi hassan sahab and mohd rafi sahab in my opinion both are incomparable and versatile singers and mohd rafi sahab sung some pretty good ghazals and mehdi hassaan sahab sung songs but not to the effect of ghazals.

Mehdi Hassan saheb and Naushad saheb are like jewes, a kind of anmol ratan.

Both never became victims of westernized music and always stuck solidly behind classical hindustani music. who cares whether one was in Pakistan and one in India as both of them have found a permanent place in the heart of 1.5 billion people.jab tak chamke chaand sitare, hum hai aaapke, aaphai hamare.

I do not agree. Lata Mangeshkar, Jagjit Singh etc., will not have these financial problems if they, God forbid, became ill. It is a disgrace on Pakistan for Mehdi Hasan Sahib to suffer financially.
