Ive never understood why people say Trivium and Metallica sound alike.Ascendancy was a metalcore album that sounds NOTHING like anything Metallica has done.(i havent heard much of the Crusade) and Shogun, while it is alot thrashier then Triviums older stuff, still sounds like NOTHING Metallica has done.I never hear James screaming like Matt does, and even there normal singing styles are different.

Man what a fucking badass solo!! There I definetily realised that they are not like metallica! Allthough the singer sounds a bit like Hietfield he doesn't sound like a "pale"-copy, he has his own "trueness" in his voice and just happens to sound similiar in a positive way.. the riffs are heavy as hell!
only the style of singing would be similar. i guess the similarity comes because of the rarity of that style and sound. in other words, you wouldn't see similarities if many bands sang like that, for example, like when "growl" is used in modern thrash, death, black, power or speed metal.
But soo many people are saying trivium are trying to be the next Metallica, and its sooo bullshit. A few people start sayin it, now LOADS of people are saying it just cause others have said it. fucking lame, if anything, their solos are more like judas priest, and their riffs are more slayer/anthrax influenced. As for the singing well, in a FEW places it sounds like Hefay is trying to sound like hetfield, it dont actually sound like hetfield though.
trivium are easily more skilled musicians, but there practically would have been no trivium without metallica.
and heafy does pull a similar vocal tone to hetfield, and the sound of the band is similar, but trivium have started to branch into their own sound now

Ive never understood why people say Trivium and Metallica sound alike.Ascendancy was a metalcore album that sounds NOTHING like anything Metallica has done.(i havent heard much of the Crusade) and Shogun, while it is alot thrashier then Triviums older stuff, still sounds like NOTHING Metallica has done.I never hear James screaming like Matt does, and even there normal singing styles are different.

My opinion, Trivium and Metallica have both bit it hard. And I'd say no, they don't have any good stuff. I think it's all pretty emo, unless you like that kind of stuff.
BUT!
If you're still on the boat with Metallica, which is awesome for you, good stuff, then yes, you'll enjoy Trivium. And don't listen to my opinion if you like them.

Allthough the singer sounds a bit like Hietfield he doesn't sound like a "pale"-copy, he has his own "trueness" in his voice and just happens to sound similiar in a positive way.. the riffs are heavy as hell!

only the style of singing would be similar. i guess the similarity comes because of the rarity of that style and sound. in other words, you wouldn't see similarities if many bands sang like that, for example, like when "growl" is used in modern thrash, death, black, power or speed metal.

As for the singing well, in a FEW places it sounds like Hefay is trying to sound like hetfield, it dont actually sound like hetfield though.

trivium are easily more skilled musicians, but there practically would have been no trivium without metallica.
and heafy does pull a similar vocal tone to hetfield, and the sound of the band is similar, but trivium have started to branch into their own sound now

Now,to say what I came to say... both are great bands, Metallica was obviously the best in it's time, but they are declining... Death Magnetic was a step up, but they are going under... and Trivium is a fairly new band who continues to change each album, and I honestly can't wait to see what they do in the future.

It's very easy to hear the similarities in Metallica and Trivium. I love both bands, but at the end of the day, I would say that trivium is the better band... Sure they take after Metallica, but this is the rare case of the student beating the teacher. thats all. Both bands are great! ROCK ON!!!
