No need here to say that you are a exeptionally talented artist who whithout any doubt comes closest to the edge than anyone else I have seen on youtube.
Your rythm is perfect, mimics are cool, and your talent to find out the right settings for the "Edge-sound" is extra ordinary. U2 should invite you on their stage to play together with them. ..... and this has only 21K views? very underrated.
Great stuff! A couple of questions. Where did you get your hat (seriously, the ones I find are all too long, or too short)? Also, what are you using for distortion/gain? You got it just right - I can't get enough distortion without the lower fret notes getting muddied...
Truly stunning. If you fancy forming a U2 tribute act I will gladly be your Adam !! (I'm serious by the way!! Know a fab drummer to be young mister Mullen jr)
Watched all of your vids, they are exceptional you make it look so easy i know some songs but hey how about you start your own u2 tutorial for guys like me on youtube,it would be very popular. are you already in a band??
Hi there. Thank you very much. I did think about doing tutorial videos but the latency sometimes caused by YouTube would be a big problem. Watch my Electric Co video with MiniBono and you will see what I mean. I end up playing a few seconds before the sound arrives which would render a tutorial useless. I might try one and see how it comes out. I can always re-upload it. At the moment I'm not in a band but it is something I would like to be a part of, hopefully one day. Take care.
Hey U2'er, really enjoying the quality and effort you put into Edge's riffs. Keep up the good work, I hope your able to put yourself into a band.
About your latency issues, i've seen a guy who has cracked it, vids come out clear and crisp. look up Edward Van Halen - wanttobe's and you should find the guy I'm talking about.
One of the very best U2 songs (after all it was probably the Live Aid performance of 'Bad' that put U2 on the map). Outstanding job. Your passion for Edge's works are evident in your effort here.
I have a Marshall stack with Korg AX3000G floor board. I will work on getting that sound - thanks for the tip, and keep pumping out those awesome tunes - Cheers!
Cheers!! The delay is set to 450ms with a strong repeat. Unless you have a Peavey stereo chorus amp the amp setting will be no good to you. The 'sound' is generated by the modelling within the GT6's patches. Take care!!
This is really good. I can't get enough of your videos, you are the best in youtube. Watching your videos has inspired me to pick up the guitar at 34 and have a try at some U2 tunes myself. I have been playing for about 6 months, got myself a cheap strat copy and a cheap multieffects pedal and have been trying to "emulate" you. If you want to check out how a "student" of yours is doing, I just posted 3 videos with my stabs at some U2 songs.
That's excellent...I can't tell if it's the backing track that has the muted 2 or 3 notes at the beginning of the main riff or if it's you? If it's you how are you getting that sound, when I play it the strings are ringing and it sounds rubbish! Nice work...
Sounds great thanks for that. I am using a software rack, and the delay setup I have isn't quite right can you describe your setup for this effects wise ?
Yeah, it's basically the delay within the GT-6 set to 450ms, level is about 80 with only one strong echo otherwise the sound will get muddled with too many echoes. Thanks for your comments.
beautifull mate....your becoming a bit of a ledgend round these parts, i know a good few folk who tune in regularly just to hear ur latest post...keep it up bud
This strat had a humbucker fitted in the bridge position when I bought it back in 1991. It's a bit of a strange modification if you ask me but there you go!
I do use the humbucker for most of the U2 tracks I play though because it gives that extra bit of power and I used it for this track. I'm saving up at present for a 70's strat and a Vox AC30 amp to be more authentic.
Thankyou for your kind comment. I agree, it sounds a bit weird at 2.20. The note is a very high A note that Edge slipped in at times during the ZOO TV period and hasn't reproduced properly in the recording. A small webcam isn't ideal really for music recording especially high notes, they're too ear-piercing.
I just want you to know, that out of all the people out there playing U2 stuff, yours is the finest I've seen. Not only is your playing great, but your sound is fantastic, and all without vintage gear and thousands of dollars in effects. Yup, as a wiseman once said, it's not what you have, it's how you use it. Hopefully Little Edge is taking an interest!
Thankyou very much, you're very kind. Spot on, never a truer word spoken. The stuff I use is knackered, my amp speakers are blown and I'm lucky if my Gibson pickups don't cut out half way through. Not only that but the numbers on my tee-shirt have turned pink in the wash!! Oh Lordy Lordy!! Yeah, Little Edge loves U2, the first ever song he heard in this world was Pride. Good start Eh?
fucking horrible

What kind of strings do you use?

Hi there,
Thankyou for your question. On the Strat and Les Paul I use Rotosound Gauge 10 strings.
Best wishes, Darren.
