@dreekd80 That is only if you can't play and you need a bunch of fancy smancy equitment. ok. i was just trying to inform anyone who was interested how to get that sound. but if it makes you feel good to shit on me... do what you do brother.
if you play guitar and you want the Hendrix/B.O.G. sound, you need these:
a Strat or really any Fender other than a Tele; a tube amp (a Marshall if you really want to be authentic); a Fuzzface pedal; a crybaby wah; a vibe pedal (BBE Soul Vibe, Moen Shaky Jimi, Fulltone UniVibe, any of those or another will do); a good Octave pedal (octave up).
I've got all that shit (Strat thru PV Delta Blues 115, bbe soul vibe, red fuzzface, MicroPOG octave, ERnie Ball wah) and it sounds friggin GREAT!!!!!!!!
@KAWT1 I can't. but as was previously stated, I can't play. I need a lot of "fancy shmancy" crap to convey the notion that I can play more than three notes. Anyway, I think Strats and Teles sound completely different.
The record producers have sucked the life out of music in pursuit of the almighty dollar. Maybe after the country has crashed and burned, another era like the 60's will rise from the ashes.
@added23 i totally agree! good perspective! i guess people just wish they had grown up in the era when this music BLEW UP the radio and record stores. heck, i think i should have been born in the '60s. my parents were DAMN LUCKY to be able to grow up during the time of Hendrix, Mercury, McCartney, Lennon, Starr, Harrison, Joplin, etc etc etc!!!!
I saw Jimi twice in my life. ONce at Winterland in 1968 and again a couple months before he became a Voodoo Child in Berkeley 1970. Sure wish he was alive today then America would really have talent.
@Darkneuromancer1 I was only three when he passed. I never had the chance, but it is because of him that I decided in my teens that I just HAD to get me a Stratocaster...
I've always likes this track. It has no real no chorus or hook but I dig the vibe. It's pretty original. I heard this when I was 6 - my brother 10 years older than me played all this sort of stuff so it seeped into my consciousness at a very tender age.

hendrix man. people complain that it sucks to live in our generation but i think its pretty awesome. we get to witness jimi hendrix, and other bands of the 50, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and truly appreciate how great that music is because of the shit thats currently on tv and radio.
@added23 What you said makes sense, except for the fact that the quality of life is declining and never getting the chance to experience those artists live.
@NocturnalCucumber well ive got to see some really amazing bands live. ive seen cage the elephant, the black keys and numerous local bands. im not saying that i wouldnt have LOVED to see hendrix, zep, or beatles live, but we have some pretty cool perks that we live in our time and find it so easy to discover a shit load of bands that we never wouldve if we lived 20-30 years ago.
@added23 I was born in 71, and happen to be a professional musician myself, so I've been attuned to music from a super early age....I grew up with the best music, and through all my studies and research have been exposed to the best of the best. I totally agree with your statement. Thanks to YT we get access to all this incredible stuff now that would have been so much harder to find back then. @eldeano1 sometimes its hard to listen to all these great bands without feeling shame that we werent around during those times, but many times we forget how fortunate we are to witness ALL this great music. but yea it does suck that we dont get to see them live. i suggest getting out there and seeing modern bands too. theres still some great music. i recommend cage the elephant, the black keys, mgmt, john frusciante, miniature tigers, radio moscow, arctic monkeys, and witchcraft

Jimi was murdered because he was a major CIA COINTELPRO 60's anti-war political target AND he was sending lawyers to the CIA's most sensitive secret banks in the Bahamas where his MI-5 manager was depositing his stolen money. Jimi was murdered because not only would he have exposed the fact CIA was tapping him through Jeffery but that the banks themselves were part of this critical Cold War operation. CIA then murdered Jeffery in a plane crash to keep any investigation from figuring this out.
@skovie23232 There's always trolls out there willing to show they can't intelligently face the real facts behind Hendrix's murder. I despise these people because, ultimately, they work for and help Jimi's murderers and are ultimately saying, indirectly, that they don't really care if Jimi was murdered or not or why. I can prove every single thing I wrote. I think trolls can't disprove it and that's what bothers them, because it makes them feel guilty over their worthlessness towards Jimi.
@Exiles800 Yes, I am a Secret Government Agent, ID:19087700, Name: John Smithie, you are a clever one, you have discovered out plots to take over the world, Now prepare to die, there will be heavy artillery on your hometown and everyone reading this will know the dangers of fucking with us.

There's like a sinister, masterful cool jazz machination to that intro and bottom rhythm that can't be put to words and usually ends up just being called genius. It's weird how many combinations of cutting edge sound Jimi could juggle within the same song and successfully put it all together so naturally. Jimi sass shays an R&B number across the top of an innovative urban mechanical jazz groove with gospel falsettos and grinding guitar sounds that hit you deep and grab you.
@Exiles800 "Sinister" isn't exactly the right word. It's almost as if Jimi has conjured and released the tiki spirit of the guitar itself and allowed it to express its buzzing elfin spirit in sound as if Jimi had captured the actual soul of the guitar itself.
@Exiles800 That could not have been said any better!! My head spins while listening to this song. First the lead guitar licks punches me in the face, then the rhythm guitar kicks me in the balls. Once im just about on my knees, the bass guitar puts me in a headlock, then finally the drums just puts a bullet in my head. This song is beethoven like!!
@MrJettJester dude jimi was not scared to death of lsd a lot of his songs were inspired by lsd and he smoked a shit load of weed like the rest of the hippies even the Beatles did lsd and smoked weed
@MrJettJester Hendrix used a lot of LSD until at least 1969, and there are no reports of acid ever killing anyone. I'm pretty sure that crystal meth wasn't really around back then. He hot caught with heroin at an airport but claimed it was planted on him and won his court battle.
Regardless of his drug intake, he was an awesome musician.
@VanDoodah the heroin was planted on him there was a witness read: the intimate story of a betrayede musical legend by sharon lawrence. its amazing and shows a side of jimi nobody but sharon knew and its very sincere and suck you in as if you were jimi or sharon. amazing book. and most people here should read it they are very confuseddd
@MrJettJester its proven that he o.ded he took 9 (his lucky number) of some girls (she was unaware) pills and drank heavily on red wine (that he dliked) and died. the woman there (her pills) at the time wasnt too conserned but ended up spilling everying to jimis closest friend sharon lawrence. and this was taken into court. dont believe me read: jimi hendrix the intimate story of a betrayede musical legend by sharon lawrence. (its amazing)
hendrix: such a HUGE drug-addict.... right... hendrix took SSOOOOO many drugs.... yeah... right.
hendrix was just an irresponsible drug-addict. right,
hendrix just did drugs, and that's how he composed this entire album: Electric-Lady-land. cuz hendrix was SSOOOO eff'ed up on drugs 24-7

listen to jimi on the bass! I bought the bass transcriptions to this album and you can tell which ones noel or jimi plays because jimi's are twice as hard lol he could have been a one of the great bass players. I guess a musician is a musician.
1:59-2:19= EARGASM, my favorite Jimi Hendrix verse out of all of his songs. The lead guitar on that verse makes my head spin its so damn good. IMO this is his most underrated song, i have not seen one cover of this song on youtube.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll. Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll
Hey, The Man was an original, worried that other people could play better than he, (like that could happen) and couldn't write or read music. But his lyrics and style can never be bettered! Saw him in 1967. What an Experience!
You guys should check out Turtle Island Quartet. They just released a new album called, Have You Ever Been...? and all of the music is influenced by Jimi Hendrix. Check out this video about the release: youtube.com/watch?v=X-iKhTLovhs
@TheDragonfly1987 I'm pretty sure Jimi did the falsetto background vocals himself - they talk about it on the "Behind the scenes" DVD - his engineer, Eddie Kramer, says Jimi had a great falsetto
@SpyridonKaprinis Yeah your right.... could he read music? The other day this dude was trying to tell me all "signed" musicians have to be able to read music.I dont think so
If you guys want the FULL experience of this song, get your hands on an unused vinyl copy, find some Bad Ass vintage Hi-Fi stereo and play it as loud as you can handle.
Thank you for the upload, my CD's and Vinyl's are far far away, so YouTube comes to my rescue every day :)

@added23 ah man who cares how it's tuned just play it the way you want to play it not how jimi would or how some one else would, hell look what jimi did to all along the watchtower i mean just play it
@fliping2ninja haha do u play guitar man? you need to know the tuning in order to play the song. and all along the watchtower is in standard tuning for every version. jimi didnt change the tuning from dylans version. u dont know what ur talking about
@GodfatherOfSweden yo man the fucka lasted a year so far if only it lasted as long as jimis music would last.................... a fucking lifetime!?!?!?!?!
@jeanstylo You don't need to be a genius to make good music, just sing what comes from the heart. Hendrix had passion for his music unlike the people today with their computerized voices.
@dreekd80 That is only if you can't play and you need a bunch of fancy smancy equitment. ok. i was just trying to inform anyone who was interested how to get that sound. but if it makes you feel good to shit on me... do what you do brother.

Hendrix rarely, if ever did hard drugs. He did smoke marijuana, but not as often as everyone thought he did.
Hendrix was scared to death of LSD and Meth, because he actually knew that the duo would kill you.

1:59-2:19= EARGASM, my favorite Jimi Hendrix verse out of all of his songs. The lead guitar on that verse makes my head spin its so damn good. IMO this is his most underrated song, i have not seen one cover of this song on youtube.

Hey, The Man was an original, worried that other people could play better than he, (like that could happen) and couldn't write or read music. But his lyrics and style can never be bettered! Saw him in 1967. What an Experience!

Jimi was hardcore but soft & mellow, soulful, funky, metaphysical poet, humorous, self-depricating, visionary, earthy but celestial, casual cool but socially conscious.
But, most of all he loved music and life and no one expressed that better than he did.

There are no words majestic enough to capture the precious influence he has had on millions of people...

RIP James Marshall Hendrix, who passed 40 years ago today. Pure guitar genius, the like of which we'll never see again.

TheDragonfly1987 1 year ago
@TheDragonfly1987 I'm pretty sure Jimi did the falsetto background vocals himself - they talk about it on the "Behind the scenes" DVD - his engineer, Eddie Kramer, says Jimi had a great falsetto
mhotter 1 year ago
@SpyridonKaprinis Yeah your right.... could he read music? The other day this dude was trying to tell me all "signed" musicians have to be able to read music.I dont think so

If you guys want the FULL experience of this song, get your hands on an unused vinyl copy, find some Bad Ass vintage Hi-Fi stereo and play it as loud as you can handle.
Thank you for the upload, my CD's and Vinyl's are far far away, so YouTube comes to my rescue every day :)

Your only option to try and keep it on longer would be to pretend the vid's up for people to see lyrics. That works, most of the time.

@jeanstylo You don't need to be a genius to make good music, just sing what comes from the heart. Hendrix had passion for his music unlike the people today with their computerized voices.
