In other words, it ticks most of the boxes necessary to be considered a "perfect game", or a model of what video games can and should be.

So your comment, "this isn't even a game", is hopelessly redundant. It's more of a game than most games. You don't have to enjoy it to appreciate its value, just like you don't have to enjoy Beethoven or Bach to appreciate that it is definitive music.

In my view, Skyrim deserved GOTY. Though this game is good, it is one of those games that once you finished it - thats it. Overall, more work was put into Skyrim, from the detailed world to even the dialogue. Hundreds of hours were spent on it to make the great game it is. IGN, you have to take more thought into GOTY awards

As you stated that is your view (opinion) just because a game is shorter does not make it easier to make, I would say that portal 2 would have been harder to develop than skyrim because of how they have to make challenging but not frustrating puzzles (making the puzzles is harder than solving them). skyrim had more dialogue but it was no were near portal 2 level (I've fin it 3x). and don't forget the ever growing amount of user created portal 2 maps from sdk. both great games tho

I didn't really like Portal or Portal 2. Well I enjoyed Portal more because it was just a simple puzzle game, but I didn't love it. I think people blew this stuff out of proportion for Portal 2 because I just hated it. Everybody said it was so good but when I played it my eyebrow was raised constantly at the story and the levels. BUT the puzzles were nice, but if I were to say just open Portal 2 up to see what made it tick I'd just find Portal with a pretty dumb story imo.

Inside steam your need to go to the "Tools" section. And find the Portal 2 Authroing Tools Beta. You should have added in the installation process. If you haven't do so, it only takes a few seconds. Then go find a tutorial online.
