Ya most of the ideas on here simply would not work. Some are not cost effective, some are not possible for legal reasons, and some just simply would not work, but this, this could actually help a few people. Granted it would be expensive, but over time it could be cost effective, compared to other ways to help people get clean drinking water.

I beg to differ. While micros may not be able to reach the glass by catching a ride on the rising water molecules they will eventually get onto the glass and into the clean water well. It's there were the sunlight would help in killing any microbes.
I like this idea. Plus I hear that the suns radiation kills a lot of microbes that can make people sick. Maybe install these in third world countries to give people clean drinking water?
By the way, the suns radiation does not kill the microbes. Here's what happens: as the water temp rises, the water molecules evaporate. A molecule is H2O... this is a very small entity which rises to the top. Since microbes are very large compared to the size of an H2O molecule, a microbe cannot be carried to the surface by the H2O molecule. The the microbes are left behind, while the pure water rises. It would be like a fly trying to carry a banana to the roof. Aint gonna happen!
