  • i did this in school 3 years ago and i am in grade 9!

  • 2:52 Dude almost lost a finger...

  • Boiling the cabbage also works to get the purple indicator

  • RAIIIINNBOWWWWS.

  • I wish he wasn't so rushed and could actually explain why the carbon dioxide makes the solution acidic by the production of carbonic acid.

  • so if i breathe on red cabbage it turns invisible 0_o

  • If you add red cabbage juice to baking soda it will turn GREEN

  • i was expecting to be able to become an acid spitting monster :(

  • I call him the "Isn't that amazing?" guy!

  • ISN'T THAT AMAZING?

    It was :D

  • is it safe to drink after you drop dry ice?

  • @johnpaulnatividad No its poisonous.

  • OOoooooh!

  • Every night, i am stuck, watching this

  • will i ever sleep tonight =)

  • wow rainbow in a bottle!!

  • OHHHHHHHHHH!! OHhHHHHHH!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

  • *Reads title* AAWW!! I wanna corrode my enemies faces!

  • he said purple juice

    hahah

  • Oh Carbonic acid how I love thee.

  • anyone else hear the little ding sound at 1:54

  • 3:00 OMG he turned water into BEER! <3

  • Titration. :)

  • Nyan Cat juice! :D

  • well co2 is not an acid what happens is the co2 reacts with the water to form carbonic acid which then decays to bicarbonate and h+

    CO2+H2O=H2CO3=HCO3+H

    the equals are yeilds

  • exactly 1 year ago

  • *isnt that absolutely gorgeous*

  • is the jucie drinkable?

  • believe it or not i´m addicted to this videos

  • Isn't that amazing? Haha he says that every episode

  • so thats how beer is made

  • Gorgeous? This guy is the Steve Irwin of science.

  • it blended

  • om worked :b

  • lol :b

  • "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOK AT THAT!!!!!!! HOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!'

  • I just realized something. when people say ballons are filled with air, thats ncorrect...their filled with c02!!!!!

  • @TheEverythingGirl122 not really... air as we know it is about 80 percent nitrogen, which we just breathe out. the other major componants are about 15 percent oxygen, a bit of co2, and some other gasses. As the human lungs are not 100% efficient at extracting oxygen, so the ballon would have all the elements of air, exept with a distorted ratio of co2 to oxygen.

  • omg u rock....

  • I cant believe I'm enjoying this stuff so much, and I'm 19 xD

  • The information for this experiment can be found on our website. Go to

    Steve Spangler Science . com

and search "cabbage juice". Then go to the "Experiments" tab. Enjoy!

  • @SpanglerScienceTV why arent you on 9news anymore?

  • @SpanglerScienceTV the srinking chip bag experiment was AWESOME!i did it 5 times and my microwave is fine.Still cool, though!

  • yeah cool but whats the liquid he uses to blend the cbbage with?

  • is that just water to make the cabbage juice? reply quick please, i want to know if you can make it white and then just give it to someone as if it was water lol... i know it would smell like cabbage, but is it drinkable? without acids or bases, of course

  • What did he have in the blender???? Please tell cause I am doing this for a science fair

  • @9Spike7

Just water and red cabbage I suppose

  • that is cool

  • This is great!!

  • we did this in biology today except we used bromthymol blue and it turned yellow

  • it does blend

  • The indicator isnt very good because the colour changes only at a certain pH, and it stays that way till a certain pH. For example, for pH1-6 it may be purple while from pH7-14 it may be another colour. This isnt the most accurate indicator.

The colour changed after adding in the acid due to neutralization of the base..

  • @PilotOfTime its useful if you are trying to titrate

  • ISN'T THAT AMAZING?

  • the old dude makes the vidios so much better

  • will it show the pH after you have been blowing CO2 into it?

  • well duh! Lmao

  • omg this is sooo kewl, cant wait to try it :D

  • i did this in my lab in school, really cool

  • OMG RAIINBOW :3

  • ya im 11 we need somthing safe and and fun

  • @mrsmilly12345 How is this not safe?

  • @mrsmilly12345 omg im 10 lets be frends k :D

  • @mrsmilly12345 you will learn about pH in Grade 9.

  • @mrsmilly12345 ever hear a 11 year old say that? XD riiiiight

  • @mrsmilly12345 Forget Safety, I blow stuff up with SCIENCE!

  • Hi Steeve. I was planning to to the first part of the video with some kids, but i read on the net that phenolphatein can be carcinogenic for man and that if ingested, you had to make yourself vomit, which would not be cool with kids.. What do you think about it ? Thanks in advance !
