  • OK... was the goverment making you pray?? why was such an issue? i mean, if there is no God why are you so concern?

  • @xfernydrummerX Make me pray? Can't be done. It is an issue to waste taxpayer's money on a display that is useless and supports religion. If they have a there is no god day then it's ok to have day of prayer.

  • @TXatheist waste..? hahaha please, do you have any idea of how much money the goverment is wasting right now? i and has wasted in the past?? is not like the national day of prayer was the biggest leach in history.

  • @xfernydrummerX Yes, like when the gov't denied Michael Newdow his case victory in noting the under god part of the Pledge is unconstitutional being another waste because it will be changed so they just wasted all of our time denying him a victory. The NDOP isn't the biggest waste but it's a waste and every little bit helps

  • I find it very frustrating when people try to prove God's existence by quoting the Bible. As a Catholic and an educated man in general, I know that this doesn't make much sense. So everyone please stop throwing out Scripture, you're just feeding the fire.

  • Dude you get a lot of hate on here but I just want to say that I really like your videos and often find them very interesting and often enlightening. I like the way you deal more in events of significance to atheists and religious tolerance I wouldn't hear about otherwise, just like you did in this video. Keep it up, I always like seeing your vids in my subscription box!

  • And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

  • @ickyHBS And in the book of Mark it jesus says " I am your imaginary friend and if you think I floated off to heaven you are naive"

  • why would you "worry" about it???

  • @ickyHBS Because

  • @TXatheist "Because" you hate Christians??

  • @ickyHBS I hate fundies, not necessarily xians.

  • @TXatheist why do you hate anyone? why "fundies"?

  • @ickyHBS Because they dumb down society and perpetuate superstitious nonsense as true.

  • @TXatheist "Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you."

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."

    -Jesus

  • @ickyHBS Yeah, or when the fictional jesus said If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother...he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26) Good ol' jesus hatin'

  • @TXatheist so u don't believe Jesus ever existed?

He also said,"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law."

  • @ickyHBS I'm all ears for a first hand account but Josephus altered and Pliny hearsay aren't enough. I'm a jesus mythicist. go check out jesus puzzle on the web.

  • @TXatheist "Because" ? well there must be something that makes you hate Christ and His followers.

    maybe it's because of this...

    John 3:18

  • @ickyHBS Maybe I hate the follower lie and pretend heaven is true and jc really will give them eternal life, maybe it's the lie I hate, not the people.

  • @TXatheist what is it that drives you to getting on yt and even calling yourself "TXatheist" and preaching hatree toward something you do not even believe exists... (Jesus)

  • @ickyHBS Well, what you call hate I call stopping deception(god/heaven/eternal life).

  • @TXatheist - Well, just because you don't believe in something doesn't make it a lie.

  • @Fike2308 Agreed, and just because you believe in something unfounded doesn't necessarily mean you are delusional but I'd say probably or suffer from cognitive dissonance.

  • @TXatheist - What is your criteria for 'unfounded' ? Something that you can not detect with your 5 human senses? Haven't you heard of the electromagnetic spectrum and that humans can only detect about one-millionth of physical reality? Even dogs can perceive sounds at higher frequencies than humans can but just because we do not detect these frequences does not mean they do not exist......if you're up to it, read the book "Flat Land" sometime....it's really short.

  • @Fike2308 The sounds a dog can hear can be detected with machines that detect sound. If you are up to it read the God delusion, sorry, it's not short. Unfounded means that in no way is it known in the slightest to be true.

  • @TXatheist - So have you studied ontology much? You seem to assume/believe/have faith that 'existence' is limited to matter inside the space-time continuum and that nothing could exist beyond these parameters.

Dog Whistle example was to demonstrate the limitations of humans' senses and I am sure there are frequency levels we can not detect with machines because we may not even realize they exist...

I'm familiar with Dawkins and his cliche arguments.....I don't find him very persuasive.

  • @Fike2308 No, I did not say that it's not possible there is more than what we know, I think SETI will prove that one day, but that's different, it's based on science, the Drake Equation, not mythology. I'm familiar with every christian argument and they aren't persuasive except to the believer.

  • @TXatheist - An atheistic arguments are only persuasive to unbelievers....what's your point?

  • @Fike2308 Not true but I get your point and think you could have a theistic argument where two theists are is strong disagreement. Is Jesus God? Muslim will say no, Christian will say yes, Jew will say I don't know. Same god mind you to many and I get that.

  • @TXatheist - What's not true and why is it not true?

We are talking about Jesus now? I thought we were talking about the existence of God and the limits of science....for me, the existence of God is more of a philosophical issue than a religious one...Muslims, Jews and Christians all believe in God....ok, they have different opinions about Jesus, I don't disagree with that.

  • @Fike2308 Serpents talking and a global flood. The fact 1 B people can't agree with another 1 B people on whether jesus is god or not is quite a issue about what god is.

  • @TXatheist - What about 'serpents talking' and a 'global flood' ? Where did that come from and what do either have to do with the existence of God? I'm not arguing for any literal biblical interpretations here.

    What are '1 B people' ?

  • @TXatheist - Also, Ben Stein interviewed Dawkins in "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" and I believe Dawkins admitted the possibility of intelligent design and a designer.

You should treat your opinions as opinions and not as facts.

  • @Fike2308 Sure, I'll admit it's just as likely that santa claus created everything as a designer. You should learn the difference between fact and opinion. It is my opinion you don't understand science and the fact is nothing you've presented shows otherwise.

  • @TXatheist - I don't know of any adult who seriously believes in Santa Claus or a Spaghetti Monster.....millions of people currently believe in God....that's significant.

I know the difference between fact and opinion and it's a fact that you are treating your opinions as facts.

In my opinion, I do understand science and I understand how limited science is.

  • @Fike2308 Argument Ad populum as some would say. It's also not a coincidence the less educated a country the more religious with the USA not as high as I'd like. I agree and didn't mean to misinterpret fact from opinion.

  • @TXatheist - I still think the comparison between Santa Claus and God is ridiculous but again I think you are arguing about the existence of a god I do not believe in and maybe that's why it makes sense to you and not me.

Lots of Christians in America with Doctorates, lots of Atheists too....can you provide any reliable statistics that more educated is equated with less religious?

  • @Fike2308 I think god and santa are perfect analogies. You can define god any way you want but it doesn't make much difference if it's unproven and that's why you think it makes sense. Michael Shermer has done multiple studies but if you go to wikipedia and put this in you'll see...Religiosity_and_intelligence

  • @TXatheist - Ok, you BELIEVE they are perfect analogies but I do not. You define a god that I don;t believe in and that is your belief.

Again, what do you mean by 'proof' ? Is existence limited to the realm of empiricism? That seems to be your position but not mine. I also believe in the powers of intuition and reason.

"if it's unproven and that's why you think it makes sense." So, now you are putting words in my mouth and telling me what I believe ??

  • @Fike2308 Of course I do. God is an imaginary friend who has special powers and so does santa. It is my belief your god is just as imaginary as the guy who thinks moses stood there with 2 tablets cause god told him to. If you can't show me why or how god exists then I just leave it that you have an imaginary friend. You are putting words in my mouth saying I'm defining your god, you've defined it somewhat and it's just like the other gods, an idea in your head.

  • @TXatheist - Ok, you believe in Santa and a god that I don't believe in....and you are free to believe in both because I am not interested in discussing any of your imaginary friends.

Do you believe in eternity? I do and I believe that time sprang forth from eternity. The Universe had a beginning according to Science....it exists in time....it either had a cause or was self-caused but I believe it was caused by an eternal itelligence and, to me, this is rational.

  • @Fike2308 No, I meant to say I don't believe in god or Santa. I do not agree with the First Cause argument and you do.

  • @TXatheist - Ok, so do you believe that Universe, time and space and matter were uncaused? And, if so, were they eternal or did they come out of non-existence into existence supernaturally ?

  • Very cool news... :O) Some people are finally taking the US Constitution seriously...

    Katalyzt

  • I vaguely recall reading something through Google news about an investigation by some body finding no wrong doing.

  • @Gravitationalist Thanks, that's one tally for hearing it in the news very recently, I'll put up the new video about climategate tomorrow.

  • Now we have to work on striking down laws in our country that are based upon religious so called moral beliefs! Strike while the iron is hot!

  • @SlinkySim it's only a temporary thing.... God is long suffering... it's all in the book

  • @ickyHBS The fairy tale book, the bible.

  • Jesus said not to pray in public like the hypocrites do, but pray alone in your room.

It never ceases to amaze me how Christians (and all religions for that matter) just make shit up, pretend it's "God given" and cry persecution to push their delusions on others.

Only a schizophrenic or a liar could say they follow Jesus AND support public prayer. It really is that simple.

  • @tyrongkojy You heard about the review panel statement in the last 96 hours?

  • Piece of shit... better wake up to the fact that religious people outnumber you 10 to 1. And once all religions see you taking away Christianities religious right to assemble in prayer, they will know they are in the same boat as us. You secularist's won't stand a chance with the entire religious world against you and out for your blood. So keep flapping your big Texas mouth. The one that matches your big texas hat... The hat your gonna' be eating before to long...

  • @2222554 That's because it takes 10 xians to equal 1 atheist intellectually and physically. No jew, hindu or muslim is complaining about the removal of the national day to babble to your imaginary friend. I am not worried about you and after i eat my hat I'll take the crap filled thing and put it down your throat.

  • @TXatheist lol you dont look very tough at all hahaaa maybe to a 16 year old

  • @ickyHBS The you must be 16.

  • @2222554 you can still pray and you can still assemble. it's just not making it a state sponsored day of prayer you tool. you can talk to anyone you want inside your own head and you and all your delusional friends can hang out and be crazy together. but there isn't state sponsored days of prayer.

  • @2222554

    You're stupid.

You still have the right to assemble in prayer, you don't need the government to assign a special day for you.

  • @2222554 how the fuck is it not unconstitutional. There is a seperation of church and state in the United States you dimwit. It should not be a national day as it openly breaks the fucking constitution

  • I heard about climate gate and basically it amounted to a few e-mails between scientists to double check their info (which they did and climate change was still right) and as far as national day or prayer goes...so I could drink a beer in public and claim it was prayer (since I am a Pastafarian and beer is part of our holy sacraments)?

  • @RavenBlaze Thanks but have you heard anything very recently about climate gate? Last 96 hours or less.

  • Ars Technica had an article about "Climategate" not long ago...

  • @navimud maby not "mainstream" but...

  • @navimud Thanks :)

  • Obama is for a NDoP, but I think it is purely political. This is America, you know. But once he had outside authority say this, I am sure he had no second thoughts on declaring it illegal. If he did. I haven't heard of him doing so yet...
