  • Instead of making a loop to finishing it off, try this /watch?v=YEpagec4fQI and this adjustable knot shown ""pulled all the way through though"" will tie it off nicely. This way you can easily tighten the rope more if you don't have it tight enough. I like to tie the truckers hitch around the tree and then tie the adjustable knot onto it and then go and tie off to the other tree with a quick release knot, then go back to the adjustable knot and pull the adjustable knot until the rope is tight.

  • sorry but knot a truckers hitch...

if you put real load on this knott you will never get it undone unlike the real knott

  • @bigyabbie Can you show us the video of the real knott ?

  • Before you ask, I'm a rigger so I know my knots.

  • Dang. This knot looked too complicated from the book I was reading. When you break down as a slip knot and a hitch, it's really easy. Good stuff.

  • I'm in my 40's & have spent my life cutting knots & waisting rope because I didnt know what I was doing. My dad has shown me this (he used to be a trucker in his early years) but without enough practice, I'd always forget what he showed me. This is on my phone now for future referance. BTW....if you loop the tag at the end to tie it off (slip knot?) you have a quick release. Great Video, thanx!

  • nice!

  • Excellent choice of subject. However: Delete the first 20 seconds and delete from 1:32 to the end of the presentation. We have little over a minute's worth of information packed into 2:12 of viewer time. Please focus on "How". Don't show us the backs of your hands (or the woods). You used 'zoom' well at the beginning of the presentation and then forgot to use 'zoom' during the 'review'. You have a good start here.

  • This video helped me out a lot, I just started my job at a hardware store in the lumber yard. I am always trying to tie lumber and other stuff down in trailers truck beds etc.. and it doesn't stay tight. Thanks

  • I found a cool product that doesn't require a knot... I use Super Rope Cinch, google it, nice product

  • Wow, Finally a decent experts village video.

  • Jon Stewart?

  • This could be perfect for slack lining.

  • Awesome vid! Subscribing to your channel right NAO!!!

  • Thanks! This is one I've wanted to know how to do for 20 years or more!! Now I know. Thank you!

  • oh come on guys - that is NOT a trucker's hitch! i know i need to be making my own movie before i go criticizing, but that's still WRONG

  • عالی بود

  • Youre awesome!!!! :D

  • try undoing it after the weights been on, correct, its a ball ache

  • I stand corrected, a slip knot can be used if you bunch it up in your hand and apply sideways force on it and 'lock' it before it can slip further. Using a slip knot means that it is only a matter of pulling the rope straight and the knot is gone... So easy! When using fine twine this is very hard tho and there is a knot that is used that is fixed but is also easy to untie even after it has been under great strain.Clearly your method works. More than one way to skin those cats! Good Work man!

  • Hi John The Truckers Hitch is the best knot to know how to tie because of the leverage you get but I have to say you don't want a slip knot in your mainline. Maybe it's a terminology thing but for the hitch to work the loop in the mainline must be fixed. And you tired a fixed knot. Anyway you helped me remember the most useful and practical knot of all when I needed it the most.

    Thanks Mate! Top Stuff!

  • Thanks Mate! Top Stuff!

  • Good job. I had to reteach myself how to do the slip knot but once that was mastered then the truckers worked great. Thanks again!

  • Thanks very much. Please use closeups for the details as it's hard to see what you're doing at some points here.

  • There's know " hitch " in that knot, been a while since I did it, but that first part can get very tight if ur pulling very hard with thicker rope, but for a motorcycle or something small it will work.

    Good job thanks pot-nah !!

    ALOHA

  • I CANT SEE!

  • good stuff bro..yeah my truckers knot is a little different but people have different styles but its the same concept awsome vid. keep posting bro.

  • Your doing it wrong...You dont make a "slip knot" and the last stage should be a quick release knot, not the way you did it as that cant be released quickly...Dont know why people make instructional videos when they dont know what their talking about...If I had a video cam I'd show you how its really done.

  • @g7vgg Myself, I don't know why people make snide comments about other people's instructional videos when they can't even use proper grammar and spelling. If I had a computer and access to the internet, I could point the finger back at them. I wait, I do......AND I JUST DID.

  • Canoe and Canayak.. Fuck yeah

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy

ah a critical Einstien and a non-sinner, to cast the first stone. way to go.. u should be proud!!!!!

  • wrong wrong wrong

  • Yeah but using a truckers knot it is free. Your Tie Tie product cost money.

  • That is not the way I was taught to tie a truckers hitch. All that knot he tied is a "power cinch". He's supposed to be a an expert? At what?

  • @scarz1951 maybe you just learned from stupid truckers...this guy is the man!

  • @mrhenderson I'm glad you think he is. Keep in mind that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Chastising and flagrancy is a trait of undereducation, in my opinion.

  • @scarz1951 I agree with you. You're supposed to do a figure 8 first. There are a few ways to do it. Also, there's a quick release method. I would go for the figure 8 if it's a big load, and with a quick release since it's much faster.

  • i dont know who he is trying to kid but that is supid! thats the best way to make a really tight knot in something and not get it out! the last "truckie" i saw tie that i slapped! then taught him the right way

  • This is not an opinion,I am appalled..................

Stop making Knot videos and go to school.

If you sinch that knot tight the rope will never come apart .

People move on or you will be learning from an inexperienced and you to will be doing it wrong source and .

I WILL POST A Truckers hitch on my chanel

  • You got the trucker YAW. But not the trucker knot. The trucker is tied with all slippies. 1st, you say to tie a overhand knot on your anchor point. 2nd, when you put your bite thru the tie off loop you pulled it through and made a TAUT hitch. Which is not a slip knot. "Expertvillage" really needs to redo 90% of their knot videos.

  • Try to contact members of the International Guild of Knot Tyers.

They are all over the world an can tell you how to make knots with or without cutting them to make them loose again.

    Good luck!

  • not useful. i didnt learn anything

  • slippery hitch at the end is easier to undo, put tag through loop to safety secure

  • Need a close-up. Thanks for doing it twice anyway.

  • Thanks man. This helped me out.

  • Thats nothing like a truckers hitch. I have cut off so many ropes tied like that. I have been driving for 18+ years and that knot is THE worst one of all to do as you cant undo it when it gets wet, exept to cut it off.

  • Good work brother, it's OK that people have their opinions, but don't let it discourge you from wanting to share your art of making knot's. What's important is the fact you are showing a skill that one day may save someone's life. God bless You.

  • Good stuff thanks

  • i don't mind that some of you people don't agree with my technique, that is fine, there are few ways, but using bad language that is not eccepable and stupid. like mister delleno01. if you think you know better please put your demo up here

  • sorry dude but thats not even close to a trucker hitch

  • That is not the truckers hitch you stupid ass!

  • A very good demo, and thought out filming using decent backdrop too. However thiat not a truckers hitch. Though it is a very close relative, and can i suppose be used in the same manner as a truckers hitch.

  • i'm a newbie to backpacking/hiking but this seems an easy way to tie down tarps/tents/hammocks to adjust tension

  • Perhaps, but this particular hitch can put more pressure on tent equipment than you intended.

A taut line hitch is much better for those applications.

  • this is not a correct trackies knot.

  • You said "trackies knot" ha ha
