I like how he sings more parts in falsetto than on the studio recording, but that's just me. I think it adds more depth to the song. I do not sing, but I do believe it's a hard song to sing right indeed.

it's because singing in falsetto is easier than singing in chest voice, and also easier on the vocal chords if you're touring.

i prefer the epicness at the end of the studio one but it's all opinion and some people (like yourself) will prefer the falsetto melody he sings here.
