I've bred many long finned fish but I recently purchased a GIANT plakat and want to breed him not for fighting). Is it ok to spawn him with a regular sized female or do I need a giant female?
Usually you want to breed similar size fish. When they breed the male usually pecks the female and chases her around, you want her to be able to endure some of that and not be killed. Likewise, if the female is larger she is too big for the male to wrap around to fertilize eggs. I think if you really condition them for a long time and put them together when the time is right they may not have problems. However, I would try to find a large female.
