I was in CAAT 7 3/25 right after you guys left there. I lost 4 of my guys KIA and 8 others wounded out of 23 total on May 7th, 2005 in Haditha. All I gotta say to these posters here is that they are TOTALLY ignorant to what war is like and rely on 4th hand infofor thier insolent remarks against Marines. When I was in Haditha with 3/25, we trained WPNS 3/1 to take our patrol routes in Haditha. They knew how pro-terrorist Haditha was. Thank God they have woken up and now support our efforts there.

Yep. We lost 48 men. The guys in my platoon were SGT Aaron Cepeda SGT Michael Marzano Lcpl Lance T. Graham and HM2 Weiner. We were known as "KABAR 7" WPNS Company 3/25. We got ambushed May 7th 2005 in Haditha by a coordinated car bomb and small arms and RPG fire. Out of our 4 vehicles, only one was able to make it out of there. SGT Jeff Schuller laid down suppressive M240 fire and killed over 40 or more insurgents firing from and exposed position and was awarded the Silver Star

Yeah basically what happened to us is they (Marines and Army who fought in Fallujah November 2004) pushed all the Fallujah fighters west to Haditha. By the time the 3/25 - 1/23 turnover happened, Hit and Haditha was no longer a one-battalion AO.

We saw more action than any Battalion since Vietnam. We were in 9 major combat ops and were the first battalion to lead an operation to take a city back from the enemy for the 2nd Marine Division since WWII. Unfortunately, we had the highest body count (48 to 31) out of any Battalion that has been to Iraq, Army or Marine. Its dubious distinction but illustrates my authority to speak on the subject. I know Haditha, Ana, Barwana, Haqlaniyah, Baghdadi, Hit, and Juba'a all like the back of my hand.
