my jazz combo and i transcribed this whole song together. its way more crazy if you actually pay close attention. it changes time signatures 4 times... maybe 5. its so much fun to play though.
Nice job, that's a hard tune to transcribe. But about it changing time signatures 4 or 5 times: the way I see it, there is a section in 6/8, then a section in 9/8 with 1 bar of 12/8 built into the form, and then there is a coda at the end back in the original 6/8. I don't know how you could get 4 or 5 changes out of that unless you were including the 12/8 bar every time it came around. I myself wouldn't consider that a change because it doesn't stick around; it's just part of the phrase.
aaron put out a chart for this tune, and the section before the solos definitely feels like it's in 6 (that's how I always played it before i saw the chart) but it's written in 9. So the time signature doesn't actually change between bass/piano interlude and the solo section, even though the feel changes drastically.
ohh shit I cant believe I missed it to, though I saw him at smalls two days later with rosenwinkel and kendrick scott, they played these exact songs and it was unbelievable.
Also, I've met Matt Penman. Really nice guy!

@iplaytehbasspipes It feels like 6 cause he's playing that pattern of 6 with the chords over the 9. Its frickin awesome
