  • Totally with you there. It's timeless. It signifies a snapshot of your life at a certain time.

  • This song still gives me a thrill of hapiness. I'm almost 44 years old now, and still living my life like those early days of yore

  • I love the synths.

    Michael Mcneil is great..

    Analog machines, YEAH!

    Roland Jupiter 4!! AHHHHHHHH

  • Brilliant video quality, brilliant sound, brilliant band, brilliant song, brilliant days back then.

  • Burchill you fat hilarious fuck. Ha hahahhhhahhhhhhhha!

  • @ArchangelBoab Archangel you disgusting jive arsed motherfucker!

  • I love this version...I ever saw in the set of “classic” in the MTV Brazil...By the way, there’s any dvd of this?

  • Excellent sound work Dexbam. I have loved this song for so long and this reminds me why. Almost unreal.

  • well done dexban just feels like yesterday and looks like yesterday. I'm the guy in the leather jacket blond bob cut in crowd in middle frame 4:56 i never had a picture let a moving picture of myself from that time amazing. I blagged my way to the front I was expecting to get kicked out no one came left my mates upstairs.

  • ahh the memories are flooding back.... thanks for the wicked trip!!!

  • Thanks for uploading this Dexbam. This is an amazing version. I think the concert was on Saturday 20th November 1982. I saw them at Sheffield Lyceum on the same tour on Wednesday 15th December. China Crisis were supporting. It was a brilliant night.

    Great memories.

  • What an intro, what a sound, what a song.

  • @Dexbam, the "Pinkpop" version in the '80s of this song is just as incredible as this one.Love it.

  • This is stunning, proper amazing. That's the City Hall in Newcastle . . . I used to go there every year with my school and sing carols :-))

  • Simple Minds without Derek Forbes is Simple Minds In Name Only.

  • You can chart the decline of this band from the moment Derek Forbes left. I think he and Jim kept in good balance. After that Jim went over the top, the bass lines got crap, the drumming went crazy and poor Charlie and Mick were left trying to rescue the songs from total dirge.

Gotta say that this whole album is pure genius. We may never see the like again.

  • @Bradonomous COULD`NT SAY IT ANY BETTER!!!! you`re a 110% right!!!!!..around New Gold Dream and before this band had M A G I C !!!!!

  • Love love this song, great band, 80's forever. Great video quality, great sound, magical. Back my childhood

  • this is so amazing dex has done it again .you feel ur heart pounding in time.pure passion.

  • Absolutely magical...thank you Dex!

  • This is when they were a band, outstanding!

  • Have to agree.. saw Simple Minds live in Melbourne in 1982.. even saw them do a sound check at Bombay Rock and their sound was a million miles ahead of many during those days..they had an extra edge live..Charlie Burchill was a nice guy & a great guitarist..Jim Kerr always had time for the fans I met him 3 times....He gave me a backstage pass for their 1984 show in Melbourne..simply awesome..were Simple Minds..of 1982

  • Everyone has one album that best encapsulates their soul. New Gold Dream is mine. Its the music I want played at my funeral.

  • Oh my god....my heart just wants to explode listening to this...perfection.

  • Absolutely fantastic! I was lucky enough to see them on this tour..brings back the most amazing memories. I was there wth my first love..i cant help but think of her everytime i hear his song. Much long ago love Betty Ann.

  • The album version contains a bell voice during the verses. That bell voice is replaced here by a synth voice that is more subtle and an octave lower. On first listening to this, I was expecting that bell voice and was disappointed not to hear it, but on subsequent listenings to this, I appreciate the more subtle voice.

  • Just takes u to another place, someplace far better than this place, masterpiece, epic, enough said

  • The live version is better the original one ... somewhere, sometimes.

  • I am amazed and shocked that the computer's audio card could sound so good with my headphones. Obviously, you have done an amazing job Dexbam. Thank you. Dexbam, do you have this version on a CD? I would love to hear how it sounds in my system. Thanks.

  • whatever happen to songs with feeling and melody? New Gold Dream is a great album.

  • it has matured beautifully

  • Everyhin about this song and performance is just majestic. drums and bass are perfection, Aren many bands about who could make it sound as tight aas this. shame he cant sing anymore and no Derek

  • Great work. I enjoy it a lot. Thank's so much. Greetings from germany.

  • Great work Dexbam - sound/video are both superb - a tribute to SM. TY

  • Superb song and band. Love Charlie playing by turns staccato, Derek playing the bassguitar so powerfull, Mell improvising on the drums, Mick, cool as ever, with his great feeling for the keyboards and Jim with his mighty voice. This is the real music. An excellent, exciting live version. Love it. Thank you DexBam!

  • Go on Charlie!!!!

  • They dance really well for Scottish guys. :-)

  • Another song where "Forbesy" is just the Man !!!...

  • For 'Dolby System' now read: 'Dexbam Surround Sound'

  • A dream.

  • Absolutely magical.

  • I was thinking "Those lucky people in the front row "; but then the sound is so good that I feel as though I'm there anyway.

Thank you for posting these clips.

  • These are the best vids I've ever seen on youtube. Thanks.

  • Great job. Please remaster the whole concert.

  • Derek Forbes is one of the greatest bassplayers ever, criminally underestimated!!

  • AGREE WITH THAT

  • I agree! Derek Forbes is amazing! Does anybody agree that this version is better than the stupid version?

  • What's the "stupid" version?

  • I think another band covered this song and it was TERRIBLE. That's what I was talking about. I can't remember the band. I love the keyboard melody at 0:55.Beautiful.

  • Forbesy! Bassy spontifico perfecto! Mel G. just check out the tight high hat! You can tell CB Reaally loves this tune, too.

  • is ja mal der überhammer

  • A Glorious Noise.

  • Excellent Mate!

  • Brill mate youve done a good job.
