Isn't it ironic that a dj like David Guetta lead me to this song, thinking that his 'The world is mine' is rather brilliant. Years later I buy a Simple Minds album and I realise who the real geniuses are! Sampling is good, but let's never forget the original.
well done dexban just feels like yesterday and looks like yesterday. I'm the guy in the leather jacket blond bob cut in crowd in middle frame 4:56 i never had a picture let a moving picture of myself from that time amazing. I blagged my way to the front I was expecting to get kicked out no one came left my mates upstairs.
Thanks for uploading this Dexbam. This is an amazing version. I think the concert was on Saturday 20th November 1982. I saw them at Sheffield Lyceum on the same tour on Wednesday 15th December. China Crisis were supporting. It was a brilliant night.
You can chart the decline of this band from the moment Derek Forbes left. I think he and Jim kept in good balance. After that Jim went over the top, the bass lines got crap, the drumming went crazy and poor Charlie and Mick were left trying to rescue the songs from total dirge.
Gotta say that this whole album is pure genius. We may never see the like again.
Have to agree.. saw Simple Minds live in Melbourne in 1982.. even saw them do a sound check at Bombay Rock and their sound was a million miles ahead of many during those days..they had an extra edge live..Charlie Burchill was a nice guy & a great guitarist..Jim Kerr always had time for the fans I met him 3 times....He gave me a backstage pass for their 1984 show in Melbourne..simply awesome..were Simple Minds..of 1982
Absolutely fantastic! I was lucky enough to see them on this tour..brings back the most amazing memories. I was there wth my first love..i cant help but think of her everytime i hear his song. Much long ago love Betty Ann.
The album version contains a bell voice during the verses. That bell voice is replaced here by a synth voice that is more subtle and an octave lower. On first listening to this, I was expecting that bell voice and was disappointed not to hear it, but on subsequent listenings to this, I appreciate the more subtle voice.
I am amazed and shocked that the computer's audio card could sound so good with my headphones. Obviously, you have done an amazing job Dexbam. Thank you. Dexbam, do you have this version on a CD? I would love to hear how it sounds in my system. Thanks.
Everyhin about this song and performance is just majestic. drums and bass are perfection, Aren many bands about who could make it sound as tight aas this. shame he cant sing anymore and no Derek
Superb song and band. Love Charlie playing by turns staccato, Derek playing the bassguitar so powerfull, Mell improvising on the drums, Mick, cool as ever, with his great feeling for the keyboards and Jim with his mighty voice. This is the real music. An excellent, exciting live version. Love it. Thank you DexBam!
I think another band covered this song and it was TERRIBLE. That's what I was talking about. I can't remember the band. I love the keyboard melody at 0:55.Beautiful.
Totally with you there. It's timeless. It signifies a snapshot of your life at a certain time.

This song still gives me a thrill of hapiness. I'm almost 44 years old now, and still living my life like those early days of yore
