yea terminators were underrated at 390 to the crank. I have seen cobras dyno in the 380's to the wheels stock so im sure they will be putting out more than 390 to the crank.

im not saying that i would beat one im saying it would be a good race 03/04 cobras 0-60 is around 4.8 sec. the impala is around 5.7 sec but you also got to think that the cobra is rwd and the impala ss is fwd so sure o-whatever the cobra will have it hands down but from 30-90 i think it would be close but thats what i think
a second is a huge difference in a 0-60 time and from a roll the cobra would win by an even bigger margin because you wouldnt have to worry about launching the car just punching it to the floor if your from a roll

And, a 30-90 is where the majority of hp and tq is at so hed be pulling a strong 420hp over the impalas 300hp thats a 38% power increase mixed with 29% pwr increase, AND with a 6spd manual you can stay closer to the max in the power band being that he has shorter gears and a 4spd auto spends all of its time all over the place hitting the actual hp briefly....

The '05 GT that I raced kept up for the most part, but took him in 2nd by just a little bit.
Folks that's 390 crank hp not whp... Try around 364 whp in these cobras... And at 3800 lbs for the coupe and 4000 lbs for the vert they are pretty fast... Yes they ran 12.9 at around 112 and that was the fastest time any magazine got... they averaged 13.1 at 110 mph with a very good driver and traction.....

To be honest even a stock 03/04 would smoke the ss. I respect the ss for what it is but there is no race against a stock or modified 03/04 cobra. By 60mph a stock cobra would be nearly 2 seconds ahead of you.

Cobra is not going to run a low 12 in stock trim. I consider this rolling off the lot, hitting the strip, and clicking off a low 12 second pass. Now with some minor mods and some really sticky tires, I can see it happening.
Well I guess since YOU say it can't then it must be true. When the 03 Cobra first came out I witnessed one guy at Atlanta Dragway rip off consistent 12.60-.70 passes in his Cobra with the dealer tag still on it. His car was stock all the way down to the rubber and I know this because he was proudly showing his car off to anyone that wanted to look at it. Considering this was done in the middle of summer and he had wheelhop coming off the line a low 12 is not unbelievable.

A car with 390whp (thats on the high side for stock) in a GT will click off low 12s with ease. However, with a car weighing almost 2 tons its a different story. There is a one in a million shot a cobra is going to roll off a dealers lot (no mods) and click off a low 12s pass.

The cobras are sick, but a good set of tires is all it will take to get there, not street tires. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. A lot of people were dynoing them brand new and even though Ford rated them at 390hp a lot of people were getting close to that at the rear wheels so Ford underrated the power. Admittedly the almost 3700lbs it carries and the Independent Rear Suspension aren't ideal drag racing components but it does pretty good regardless. At least the 2010 Shelby's are running 11's bone stock.

My friend just bought a 2010 WRX, he had some upgrades done,got it up to 326 HP...I ran away him from a 40 MPH roll...just saying.
And no my Cobra isnt stock. BBK CAI, underdrive pullies, Venom 400 PCM, 3:73 gears and exhaust.
When my Cobra was stock the Cobalts SS SC could keep up till about 80...then race over.

@97KingCobra There you go. You are comparing a decently modified car to most likely a stock car. And I'm talking about GT's. My Cobalt walks on every generation of GT that I've raced. Foxbody 5.0, '94 5.0's, 95-99 4.6's, 00-04 4.6's, 05-09 4.6's. The only on I don't have a chance against is the new 5.0. The '05 GT that I raced kept up for the most part, but took him in 2nd by just a little bit.

Folks that's 390 crank hp not whp... Try around 364 whp in these cobras... And at 3800 lbs for the coupe and 4000 lbs for the vert they are pretty fast... Yes they ran 12.9 at around 112 and that was the fastest time any magazine got... they averaged 13.1 at 110 mph with a very good driver and traction.....

To be honest even a stock 03/04 would smoke the ss. I respect the ss for what it is but there is no race against a stock or modified 03/04 cobra. By 60mph a stock cobra would be nearly 2 seconds ahead of you.

I pretty much live at Atlanta Dragway and Jackson Dragway (House of Hook). And to also give you more info I don't just spectate. Me and my whole group race a variety of mustangs and I can honestly say on days where I have seen Cobra's and GTO's racing it's usually the Snakes that win.

Cobra is not going to run a low 12 in stock trim. I consider this rolling off the lot, hitting the strip, and clicking off a low 12 second pass. Now with some minor mods and some really sticky tires, I can see it happening.

Well I guess since YOU say it can't then it must be true. When the 03 Cobra first came out I witnessed one guy at Atlanta Dragway rip off consistent 12.60-.70 passes in his Cobra with the dealer tag still on it. His car was stock all the way down to the rubber and I know this because he was proudly showing his car off to anyone that wanted to look at it. Considering this was done in the middle of summer and he had wheelhop coming off the line a low 12 is not unbelievable.

You may not consider him a pro, but you state yourself he is an avid drag racer. This seems right since I remember all other magazines getting 12.9s out of the Termis. A car with 390whp (thats on the high side for stock) in a GT will click off low 12s with ease. However, with a car weighing almost 2 tons its a different story. There is a one in a million shot a cobra is going to roll off a dealers lot (no mods) and click off a low 12s pass.

A lot of people were dynoing them brand new and even though Ford rated them at 390hp a lot of people were getting close to that at the rear wheels so Ford underrated the power. Admittedly the almost 3700lbs it carries and the Independent Rear Suspension aren't ideal drag racing components but it does pretty good regardless. At least the 2010 Shelby's are running 11's bone stock.
