nah, the pickups on the mexican 70's strats are reallly thin sounding. they sound really good clean but can't really handle overdrive. i have one and I'm upgrading mine to seymour duncans. it's a shame cause youd think the guitar would come with good pickups considering the price you pay. thats modern day fender for ya. sweet guitar, lousy pickups

Yes it is- the American one was way out of my price range and couldn't find one with a maple fretboard. I think this one rocks though! Highly recommend 9/10.
