this is still way too complicated to be considered pop in my opinion. it's funk/soul with punk, prog and metal influences.

that's how 3 have always been, they were much more about the funk stuff on their first record, but slowly grew more towards the prog metal stuff.

their music is still very impressive as far as talent and song structure is concerned.

just because a song is listenable and enjoyable doesnt mean it's pop, because pop means popular, and 3 still arent, at least not very.

You'll probably be happy to know that "Revisions" is supposedly the band's last album on Metal Blade Records. You won't have to deal with their ironically non-metal music any longer.

Besides, although it is kind of odd that this album would be released on Metal Blade, it's not a big deal if your taste in music extends beyond one genre. The band has more than enough metal on their previous album, but each new album by 3 is different.
