it was a joke, supposed to make the candidates appear to be taking unscripted "town hall" type of questions, when in fact they all had the questions well in advance with their nice pre-written answers. Addressing the video screen as if they were really talking to the questioners in real time via satellite or something was quite lame. Nothing new from any of them and no real answers to any questions, just more lame beat around the bush feel good nothingness.
