Shitttt... No words... just beautiful!!! Beautiful filmmaking, beautiful song and BEAUTIFUL band members!! Wow this video, just the sheer EXILE-ness in which it's drenched.... ahhh how can this, how can the Stones, NOT be the love that keeps everyone happy! ;)
To have this as my all time favourite album for most of my life is, in its self, a blessing. To then have these prev. unreleased gems grace my ears is nothing short of pure bliss. Stray Cat/Ventilator Blues has it
Something about this song, maybe even moreso than any other song on Exile, this takes me back to that time. Does anyone agree that this song makes it feel like that time period?
@dannyd1572 Not at all, because Mick's voice has changed since then and it shows in this song. The vocals are an overdub. Still a great song, but it's not Exile, to my ears anyway.
@mredyhcapamab But I was kind of curious as to how much of the vocals were overdubbed. THe backgroud singers may have been but the ragged strong vocal prescense in the background sure sounds like Keith during the Exile era. I fully agree that Mick's voice sounds too polished like something off his solo album. However, did they keep an original of any of these vocals on here?
This vid is better than the main one. Something about this song that grows on ya. I know Jagger's vocals were redone, but when I listen to this song and watch this video it takes me back to 1972 like I was there when actually I was still in my mom's womb.
@jstohler i love "just want to see his face"...funny hey. greetings from devonport tasmania. go to "the real thing russell morris" uploaded by zatopecara and press "see all" to find my 3 recently posted comments. you will not be disappointed i guarantee you. my callsign is figbat1. regards.
Beautifully poignant song and great video. But I have a feeling they dropped it from Exile because it sounds much more like The Faces, than The Stones?
From what I understand, this was left off "Exile" as it was too similar to "Tumbling Dice." OK, fair enough ... but to not put it on any album thereafter? This is such a great, classic-Stones sounding song. The overall vibe of hearbreak and regret. The lyrics: "I smelled rubber, and soon discovered you were gone for good." "You'll be a hard act to follow, a bitter pill to swallow." Oh Mick, we've all been there. This song would have been perfect on "Black and Blue." Great video, too.
16mm fun! With Bianca and the whole gang! Very nice.
I heard the Madison Square Show was $6.50 a ticket - too much! I mean, they were the Stones and all, but nobody else was charging over $5 a seat. So f#ck 'em.
I mean, really - would you pay $6.50 to see the Rolling Stones in 1972?
@audadvnc would i pay 6 fifty for the stones in 72 i most certainly would in fact i probably would have paid the tenner the scalper on the st corner wanted.......lol
@audadvnc I only wish i'd had the chance to see the Stones at Maddison Square in 1972, the fact that nobody else was charging over $5 is irellevant, no one else is the Stones.
i discovered this song last Dec via this video. I love it. Keep watching it over & over.
I moved into my dorm at college w/ Exile on Main Street casette tape blaring in my used Pontiac Ventura. It was a beautiful Fall day in New England. A pretty cute girl walked by & just looked @ me & my buds with this huge smile.. guess she liked the Stones too. I always remember that, that smiling girl. Impossible to forget. Just one of those things.
Love the song. wish they had printed it back then.
Somehow "Soul Survivor" made the final cut, but this didn't. "Survivor" always sounded like after the killer opening riff that they mailed in the rest of the song. I'd love to hear a version of this with 1971 Mick singing. That man had the greatest voice in rock... and Keith had the greatest backing vox voice as well. They were the perfect storm of talent and being there at the right time. God bless the Rolling Stones.
I just can't believe they did not put this song on original " Exile On Main Street". It just add to its greatness....Unfuckin believable.....Amazing......
Not so quick, Baby! Look again....most are just hidden, tucked away Safe
In our Individual "Edens"...Havens of Grace....The Heart of an Artist will forever keep Pace, even if only in Exile Below.....SWAK!!! doesn't this tune rock! Your S, so Truly!
It's amazing, even this throwaway is superior to anything that they've done in the last ten years.....sorry Ronnie, y'should've stayed with the Faces!!
I was 6 when the Exile album came out didn't here it until recently. This video and the music with back ground singers and horns really captures the time period and the out dated material. One of there top 10 albums no doubt.
man, you are totally right, but i´d include Beggars banquet in your list. simpathy for the devil, no expectation, salt of earth, parachute woman, etc. as good as the ones mentioned here
@IronSaban I saw the clip right before I read your comment and I was like "wow...I mean, that, THAT iS a fuckin rock star..." its like 3 seconds of seeing him and you can just see it. Its 100% undeniable.
Nice acceptable Exile groove...nothing less & nothing more.
Suspect though.these were (like some other "outtakes"),present day Jagger vocal overdubs.
It's just now, that it struck me, why these rare Exile promo's appeared on YouTube,Sir Jogger must've dived in his home movie library,to wet peoples appetite, for this DeLuxe money grabbing excercise.
