  • One month later, ALLSTATE AUDITION! :D

  • @MrOwlyBird Not bad!

  • Todays the audition. :D

    Here I come regions.

  • @MrOwlyBird Good luck!!!!!

  • You wouldn't happen to know what mouthpiece he plays on would you? I'm in the market for a new one and I'm thinking I'm going to go for the Bach 5G, but I just want to get some other opinions.

  • college audition piece found =D

  • @GreatlyHated college?! this is the audition piece for my sophomore band

  • @HaLo3GoDs21 :O

  • I'm a sophmore in high school and I'm playing this for my Region audition solo. Merp I wanna play as good as Carl Lenthe.

  • An Excellent and grand beautiful work, and you 'Carl Lenthe' portrayed it perfectly.

You captured every detail, precise rhythm and articulation, a grand sound spiced with written and creative exaggerated dynamics. Its a recording of Allegro et Andante that I prefer over all recordings of it. You never disappoint, I love your playing and I look up to you for I'm a young trombonist trying to improve, hearing your playing gives me a higher standard. You (and I'm sure you know) are a well master

  • @allyman10 Thank you very much, but again, I am not Carl Lenthe; he is the one who recorded this song in a recording studio somewhere else and I am in no relation to him whatsoever. You can even purchase these two tracks from Amazon, which is how I obtained them.

  • @allyman10 I am in complete agreeance with you. I am playing this piece this year as a freshman. I am excited to play this beautiful piece. I am going to upload it as soon as I think I can play it with greatness. Not as great as this recording studio version, but hopefully at least half as good. My recording equipment is not any good, but I would like your opinion, stranger, on my performance once I get it up. You seem to know exactly what you are talking about in music terms.

  • I really like this, the first half was amazing! Just an opinion though- too much vibrato in the second half, it sounded just a little too much like the first half to me. Just a thought, still a spectacular job! :) Better than how I played it ha

  • @mattro124 "Played by original performer, Carl Lenthe."

  • @TheMaridPrincess Good for you! It's so awesome that you are really applying yourself in this degree for music! Music speaks an individual's mind; music describes a person's feelings; music plays on our souls. Look in the description for a link containing tips from Carl Lenthe.

  • i'm playing this piece for GSA audition in 2 weeks. could u give any general tips to make it sound better?

  • @yoondory Copy every little thing Lenthe does as closely as possible, but be SURE to play louder than the piano, but not overblown. Judges like that for some reason. Also, visit the link I just put in the description.

  • @Marth8880 the audition's supposed 2 be unaccompanied. so then, would that mean i can play softer on the pianos?

  • @yoondory You're playing the Piano?

  • @Marth8880 no, the trombone solo's supposed 2 b unaccompanied, so i'm on my own without the piano

  • @yoondory Hmm, I've never ever heard of an unaccompanied solo (other than Piano solos) before. So play it as normal, but make sure you follow Lenthe's speed to the last digit, otherwise it sounds way too fast. I swear, every other recording of people playing it is waaay too fast. He starts it off at about 44 BPM. Just make sure you follow him.

  • @Marth8880 Sorry, I hate to intrude on your conversation, but I highly disagree with what you're saying. Trying to copy everything Lenthe does in the solo makes it absolutely unoriginal and therefore has less emotion. When I played this, I took liberties with the tempos, played some sections slower than marked, one faster than it was marked, and made it tons more enjoyable for me. The advice you should be giving is to play what feels best to the individual playing it. Gives it much more emotion

  • @turdferg098 I only instructed him to "follow Lenthe's speed to the last digit", not everything that he does, lol. When I practiced this I would play alongside this track and I have kept the tempo inside my mind and my playing ever since; I myself would actually, honestly play it the same way as Lenthe.

  • Okay, thanks.:D

  • No, but I could check really fast. :)

  • This is amazing. Ohmygosh.<3

Do you happen to know what type of trombone he used to play this?

  • @bandgeekFTW Alright, so Lenthe plays the B&S Model MS14K “Stolzing”. Visit the second link in the description for more info on it.
